Hypothyroid and really bad hot flashes
I'm not sure if it's menopause or my hypothyroidism, but I'm having really terrible hot flashes lately. They are so bad that I get nauseous and a little shaky before I even get hot. Then I get SO hot!
![]() I'm being treated for hashimoto's hypothyroidism with 50mcg of levothyroxine. My endo says my TSH is normal (went from 3.8 to 1.2), but I'm not convinced that my thyroid is optimized. I asked for a T3 test and she did a total T3, not a free T3, and prounounced that normal as well. When I asked her assistant (she doesn't bother to call me herself) if I'm so normal why I'm still having symptoms (dry skin, constipation, insomnia), she said "it must be something other than your thyroid causing it. I have another appt. later this month, and if she refuses to help me with these symptoms by adding cytomel or putting me on Armour I may seek another doctor. So has anyone else found that their thyroid condition makes their hot flashes worse? I should mention that I'm not on any HRT. I was on BHRT but went off of it because I was gaining weight.
