Dessa:
Thanks for setting this up! You are so organized. I actually thought about doing this, but was just too overwhelmed thinking about it that I gave up before I even started. Re: Heartburn: I suck on these ginger chews that I bought at the health food store. They seem to help some. They're really spicy, so you can't actually chew them, but I suck on them like a hard candy, then bite them in half when the juice is gone. I suck, then bite, on and on, until I've slowly chewed it down into a ball of fiber. At that point, my pregnant belly will not allow me to swallow the gooey fiber and I have to spit it out. Sorry this sounds so gross, but it works. My naturalist told me not to eat Tums because of the aluminum in them, so I bought these instead. One more month down, seven to go! Re: Birthing: Is anyone considering your birth plan yet? I'm thinking of having a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), and I'm really nervous. Today, I'm looking into doula services in my area. They seem pretty comprehensive, and are more reasonable than I first imagined, at 300-500 for the prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum services combined!

Not a bad deal, I never heard of doula until i started watching Discovery Health.
I really want a vagnial birth. I would like to experience it naturally, so I ask if it still looks a "go" at every visit. I don't know if I will be able to make it through w/o meds, so I have epidural as a definite standby. My DH wants me to get one as soon as they admit me, poor thing, I don't think he wants the guilt of my pain seared into his brain! I visit the midwife again next week. I really didn't like her, there are two midwives with the same first name in my office, and I'm hoping it's the other one and not her. She wanted answers to too many questions that I wasn't ready for, and was kinda peeved at me that I didn't have the answers....When I met her I was about 11 weeks, and she was asking me if I was having an epidural. I said I didn't know b/c I don't know how the pain would be, and she looked at me as if I might have had 8 kids and out to know. I told her about the mass in my breast, and she told me it was nothing and didn't tell the doctor and the next month he was peeved b/c he detected it right away b/c it had grown a lot and she didn't say anything. I thought that the midwife would be more compassionate, but she seemed like an old school teacher to me. So I don't think I'll go her route. IF I meet the other one, then I will reconsider it. Gooey fiber? That doesn't sound very good Nik, so I don't blame ya.

Dessa: You still have a few weeks left. I have just learned about hypnobaby, a process of pain relief by hypnosis. I would look into it if I were you.
Why would you know at 11 weeks if you want an epidural? Why would the midwife care? It stinks to have those kinds of negative caregivers in your experience. I hope this appointment goes a lot better. Not to give advice, but personally, I will not be induced for labor again. If they say an induction is medically necessary, I would argue, argue, argue! It did not work with my body (I've heard of others having great success). I will absolutely NOT have another induction. NO-No-NO! |

Personally, I am hoping for a planned ceasarean. A ceasarean is more than likely with twins anyway, and if so, Id rather plan it, than have it be a last resort.
Thanks for the input on the names! And the compliments on the pic! I sent it to my family and they were all dying over the fact that I am already showing. I am going to be HUGE! Oh well..only 6 more months to go...or LESS! I can put up with being a whale for a few months, right? LOL I had some spotting again this morning. I was fairly light, and brown/rust in color, and it was gone by 1pm when I got off work, but it still makes me so nervous when I see it! This is the first time in 11 or 12 days. I thought I was done with it, but I guess not. According to everything Ive read, the babies are supposed to double in size over the next 2.5 weeks or so, so I'm assuming all the stretching and growing is probably causing some of the new capilaries in my cervix to rupture. I just wish it would stop all together! Sigh. Other than that, things are fine. I just wish I didnt hav eto wait 27 more days to go to the Dr again! Sheesh! I can't beleive how close youre getting, Dessa. Cant wait to see pictures of your new little one! Sorry about the heartburn, Nik :P

I believe I am very blessed with the ob that I picked out. I get to choose who I want to deliver my baby...a dr or midwife. I picked midwife.
I am opting to go with completely natural childbirth and I would also like to do it in a tub. I am going to find out more of the details at the next visit which is on the 11th. So I will have to let you all know what they say. |

Weezie, I'll look forward to what you find. I'm going to mention VBAC to my Dr. on Tuesday at my next appointment, and I'll let you know what he says.

Yeah, this midwife just didn't do it for me..She wasn't mean, just scolding. I think I'm spoiled by my doctors and NPC's b/c they know me as soon as I walk in door and remember my last visits pretty clearly.
I had my surprise baby shower at work!! I wasn't that surprised b/c my unit is awesome, but the entire office really gave me a LOT of stuff, I have lots and lots of clothes, plus onesies, receiving blankets, socks, burping clothes, loads of personal care items, then bigger things like a car seat, baby monitor, diaper genie, large boxes of diapers and wipes, safety gate with latches and plugs, bathtub, diapers, sun shade for car, and I probably left out a few things. I was so overwhelmed and happy. Tomorrow's my last day and it almost made me want to stay......almost. ![]() |

I feel like crap every since last night. Not all the time, but I feel like I'm having very very bad gas pains all around the parameter of my uterus. It doesn't feel like the tightening and cramping with contractions, but it feels like my body's getting ready. I just pray he holds out till full term, after next weekend. My family's throwing a shower also next weekend, and my birthday the 14th so I'd like him to come after that. I doubt that this week it will happen.

Dessa: Keep an eye on it. Do you see the Dr. on Mondays? Don't forget to mention any new pains or sensations. It could very well be your body getting into position. He'll come when he's ready, and that could be anytime now! I'm so excited for you.
I'm a bit tired today. My nausea is all but gone, with minor flare ups from time to time. My biggest symptom right now is moodiness. I'm so angry! I just spent the last hour yelling at DH about his family. DS has been with them for the past week, and we will be going on vacation with them in two weeks. I was warning DH that if his mother or sister says something to tick me off, he'd better step in before I blow up. So, I was having hypothetical arguments! It's like I WANT to rip someone's head off. Krysta? How are you doing? Are you overly angry for no reason? Just me? Hmmm... ![]() |

Yeah, it seems like a REALLY bad time in a woman's life to go off of mood altering drugs. I'm a big hippie, so I was only taking supplements, not pharmaceuticals. Well, they were helping! A LOT! My naturalist, however, does not want me taking them... Very straight and narrow, he is.

Nik, I'm fine. If anything, I will cry at the drop of a hat. I can hear a song, or see something on TV, and I start tearing up. Thats the extent of my emotional changes, so far, at least. Sorry youre so angry...don't yell at us!! LOL
![]() Dessa, that is aewsome about your baby shower! I can't beleive how much stuff they gave you! I have a baby shower on the 21st...totally unexpected. I am going to Utah for my friends wedding, and while I am there, I am planning on seeing a bunch of friends. Only one of them was even supposed to know I am pregnant, I wanted to surprise everyone, but somehow, my former boss/friend found out and now she is giving me a baby shower! It won't be very big, but still, I'm very flattered that they would go to the trouble, considering I haven't even seen them for a year now! All my other friends still don't know, though, so I will still have my fun with the surprise with them ![]() Well, no spotting since that brief incident on Wednesday. My tummy has been a little sore, however, and I'm wondering if it is stetching right now. Its not cramps, more like the feeling of a sore mucle, or something, and mostly right down at the bottom between my belly and my pelvis. I really think I need to order a pregnancy "excercise" video. I know that they are mostly stretching and toning so as not to raise the heartrate too much, but I think that is exactly what I need...I need to be doing something. My body is already starting to feel worn out, especially my legs and back. Other than that, I think I am going to order some more tops from Old Navy Maternity. I got an extra 20% off + free shipping coupon in my email on all their clearance items and there is the cutest shirt on clearance that I want to get before my trip. I love Old Navy Maternity, cause their stuff is cute AND cheap, so I don't feel like Im wasting a bunch of money on clothes I am only going to wear for the next 6 months, or so. Granted, they will be ALL I am wearing, but still If anyone wants the coupon code, it is extra20 and its good till July 10th. |

Thanks for the code! I'm going to have to go shopping; maybe today. We're leaving on vacation in two weeks, and I think my limited wardrobe of TWO outfits may needs some supplementation!
Krysta: I've been weepy, too. Luckily for me, I get all ends of the spectrum! Luckily for you, there's a delay between typing and posting a message, so I don't think I'll need to yell at you. It's awesome that you're having a spontaneous baby shower. You're really going to need all that stuff. With one baby, it seems like people go overboard on burp clothes and the like. With two babies, it may be JUST ENOUGH! I'm so overwhelmed with all the stuff we need to buy for one... Holy Momma! It's been 9 years since we had a baby, so we kept NOTHING. (I take that back. We have the pull-cart that attaches to the back of the bike to carry the baby. That's it.)Have a great weekend, ladies! I hope to see you around again soon. |

Well, Nik, before you go shopping, I had better warn you...I went shopping and apparently, the 20% is only off "select items" and you have to spend $100 to get the free shipping! After all was said and done, only one of my shirts was a "select item" so I only got .50 off my entire order! I was so mad, I didnt even buy them! Oh well...I will probably go back and get them, cause I really want that one shirt, I'm just mad about the fine print of the coupon!

Hi, Ladies...Krysta, you're looking good, there! That's awesome about your shower. What a nice surprise...you're planning on telling everyone when you get there, if word hadn't already gotten around?
I didn't have the opportunity to go to Old Navy...it was the first place on my list but they just built the one nearest my house a month ago, and I hadn't had the chance to go back. I was having trouble getting online b/c my comp was not updated at the time for the site. Other cool places for maternity clothes online: Walmart (the store is kinda blah, but most of my dresses were from the online store, plus the CUTEST dark wash denim overall capri set, I got for $20 that I wore every week I love their dresses online, the XL's fit a little big if they are flowy. The dresses in person look cute online, but better in person. JCPenney, good deals online especially for work. Motherhood : the store's "ok" but if other stores don't fit, may be your best bet. I wasn't that impressed. I heard Babies R Us has maternity clothes, anyone hear that? Have fun shopping! |

I looked at Meijer today and was NOT impressed. If I want to wear babydoll T's and capri pants, I'd be fine. Plus, I don't see how replacing the waistband with a 2" strip of elastic is going to help. I expect my gut to widen by at LEAST 8"!

Hey Sandra! Your baby is adorable!
Dessa, I didn't know Walmart had more maternity clothes online. They have like 5 things at my store, so I never even bother looking there. As for Motherhood, I got my denim capris there, and Im going to get a couple pairs of jeans there in the fall, cause they have the invisible belly, or whatever it is called, that I LOVE. They are so comfortable, and NO LINES ANYWHERE! I'm waiting for Penneys to get their new fall clothes in, cause I don't really like any of the stuff they have right now, and my favorite maternity thing, which Im going to stock up on while Im out in Utah, is the Shade Maternity shirts. I guess I will be doing a little more looking for clothes online, since a lot fo the stores here don't really have much in my style. Nik, I agree with you about the "true waist" pants, etc, with the little pieces of elastic on the sides...How do they expect pregnant ladies to really wear those? They are riduculous, not to mention they look totally uncomfortable! Give me big and stretchy, thats my motto! ![]() |

One hint for clothes - ebay. As I see it, you're borrowing them for a few months - so why spend the money!!
It's amazing how much money some women will spend - to only wear a few times. I did great on ebay and also found quite a bit of new stuff with tags at Goodwill. If you think about it, most people don't keep maternity clothes very long and they haven't been worn much since body size changes so fast. |

good advice on the clothes; thanks! (ITA that your baby's adorable, too)
I think I'll take my sewing machine, some old sweats, and some jeans and create "Frankenpants." My wardrobe is so limited anyway, I might as well butcher it. I had just started wearing a size 14 and only owned maybe 6 things in that size when I found out I was pregnant... With my first, I just wore oversized shirts and sweats (I was in college). Now, I don't know WHAT I'm going to wear to work-peasant skirts? |

Ive looked on Ebay and have never found a whole batch of clothes that I would be willing to pay for. Oh well. I figure I'm going to try and have at least one more after the twins, so I will just pack them away and use them again. Besides, I figure if I have to get fatter and fatter during the next 6 months, I'm going to make darn sure I at least look fat and CUTE!!
I guess it's all a matter of what's important to each person.Anyway, I just wanted to say that I am 11 weeks today! YAY! One more week and I'm in the 2nd trimester!!! WOO HOO! |

11 weeks! Seems like you just got here! The second trimester was amazing for me, all of my fatiuge and aversions went away, (I hear m/s goes away too)I was starting to obviously show, and I got an incredible second wind. I looked cute too! Get some movement in as much as you can, and you can also concentrate on being more healthy...t
Cause the 3rd trimester will be here sooner than you know it, and you'll long for the 2nd trimester feeling again.... I'm having extremely bad pain for the past 3 nights or so. it feels like the worst gas pains i've ever had. The specialist thinks it might be contractions, but unsure b/c he's not following my pg. I see my obgyn 2morrow morning about it. But my fluids are up a level, which is awesome, and baby is moving moving moving! |

Check out my pregnancy web site again: babygetz Pregnancy Home Page
There are two new ultrasound pictures. The baby looks like a gummy bear, but Ben said it looks like a frog. It was so cute and exciting! My due date is still January 31, and everything looks good! Last edited by Nik : 07-08-2008 at 04:37 PM. Reason: bad link |

Cute baby, Nik! I'm on FF, too! Heres My Page... not quite as detailed as yours! LOL Sometimes I still can't believe that we got PG within a week of each other! Crazy!
So I got 3 more shirts today like the one I am wearing in my avi pic. I got them at Target for 8.99 each...one in pink, brown and white. They should last me awhile, cause they are really stretchy, and I like how long they are. They will be good alone, or layered. I hate the fact that regular maternity tops dont fit me yet, but all my regular shirts are getting too short and tight, so I thought these would be good transitional shirts. I'll take my next pic in one of them, although I am debating waiting till next week when Im 12 weeks to take the next picture. However, I think my tummy is definitely bigger than last week. At least it felt like it today! Could be some bloating, too, though. I dont know...should I wait, or take another one tomorrow?? Decisions, decisions!
