Has anyone here tried Bio idential hormone replacement threapy?

I'm getting an appointment to start this HRT ASAP.

I don't know if anyone knows about this but Suzanne Somers wrote a book about it.

She had cancer and refused chemo and instead did this hormone replacement and now she's cancer free.

The old HRT was not good for women because it was synthetic but the ones Suzanne talks about are plant-based and exactly what you're body requires.

You give a saliva test and they determine exactly what is needed... estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, testosterone and they give you a tailor-made replacement and your body is tricked into thinking it's 20 years old again.

You (according to her book) are mentally and physically more well.

I believe what I've read on the net about it. I read that when our bodies stop producing babies or it thinks it can't any longer we begin to decline and die.

Suzanne talks about the birth control pill and how it damaged lots of woman that took it for years but it can be fixed.

I hate spelling words wrong, especially in the title. bio-identical is correct.

I am interested. My doctor told me I need to be on premarin, so I changed doctors. There is absolutely no way I will EVER take pregnant mare urine...I believe it caused the cancer that eventually killed my mother.

That said, I DO know I need HRT, but I want something that's not dangerous. Tell us more about it.

There's stuff all over the net about it. I have told you most of what I know so far, I need to get further into the book.

I believe you'll find more information if you type bioidentical HRT rather than bio identical (2 words) but either way, there's loads of information and I actually just found a place on the net that tests your saliva for you, you order the kit and they test for many things like, (5 Hormones) (E2) Estradiol, (Pg) Progesterone, (T) Testosterone, DHEA, AM Cortisol

I do, I do!! And I'm so happy to have found this wonderful doctor:
Dr. R. Glaser

I had a total hysterectomy in 2001. I wasn't allowed to take any hormones for 6 months so I had to endure all the joys of instant menopause. Finally they allowed me to take Premarin but when I read more about it, I quit. So I've been hormone-less for about 6 years now. My primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Glaser (for ONCE there was a good one in my area)

I feel better in many ways than I have in years. And no hot flashes!! I love it.

So, does a doctor have to prescribe these hormones, or can you purchase them "over the counter/on the internet"?

Cool.......I'm so glad someone's trying it and giving it a good review!

Melle,

I'm going to do it through a doctor so it's covered on insurance. From what I can tell a pharmacy has to make is especially for you so that would have to come from a doctor.

I clicked on Locarb4me's link and I see it talks about the insertion of pellets, which is what I was originally told 2 months ago when I was in S. CA. from a friend of mine. That's what she has.

I emailed that link I gave you about the saliva test and hopefully they'll answer me, I asked a question similar to yours.

Hi ladies,

I just found this forum. I have been using bioidentical hormones for 4 years in the form of pellets of estrogen and testosterone implanted in my hip. Here is my story:

I had a complete hysterectomy in 1987 when I was in my 30’s. I managed my menopause symptoms with different estrogen pills. But no doctor ever mentioned the loss of sex drive or the benefits of testosterone. For 16 years, I had no sex drive. None.

Then came the estrogen scare several years ago. I tried to get off of the estrogen and couldn’t. The night sweats were the worse. I was in a miserable place physically.

Then in 2003, I read a newsletter from my gyn about Bioidentical Hormone Pellets. I did some research and what caught my eye was one of the symptoms of low testosterone is thinning/loss of pubic hair and loss of sex drive. That was me! I also felt like my name was after every symptom. There was a ray of hope! I talked to my dr about the pellets. She does thousands of women and has them herself. So I decided to get them. I get 2 estrogen pellets which are 25mg each, and 1 testosterone pellet of 75mgs. I will get these pellets as long as I am able. Hopefully till I die.

Here is the procedure: My doc numbs a small area on my hip with lidocaine. Then she makes a very tiny incision and then inserts the pellets. She puts on some steri-strips, a Band-Aid and off I go.

I have to say they drastically changed my life for the better. First of all the menopause symptoms went away. No more mooodiness, hot flashes, or night sweats. But the absolute best was the increase in sex drive. Desire, lubrication and orgasm went through the roof. There are other benefits as well: more self-confidence, increased self-image, more outgoing. I have never felt better or more sexual in my life.

I'll be glad to answer any questions...
Nancy

Yes. Testosterone pellet in the hip just as you described. Also a compounded vaginal cream with progesterone and estriol (they just eliminated the estradiol for my last refill to help with my weightloss issues).

What a difference!! The only drawback and it a minor, manageable one is my complexion is greasy again like when I was 18

Actually, that could be caused by your low-carb lifestyle. I've been low-carbing since April 20'th, and I've noticed in the past two weeks, that my face and hair are very oily...just like they were, in high school. I have to wash my hair every morning, just like I did back then. I know it's because of the higher fat diet, that I'm consuming. Actually, I figure those natural oils keep my face and hair looking younger.

Why don't you get the estrogen pellet as well? Then you don't need to worry about it. Glad you like the testosterone. Sure makes for a great life!

How long have you had them?

I have questions.......wish I could private message people but I can't yet.

So glad you responded!

There's only one person here that prescribes this and she's booked up for 2 months.

EDIT:

I just called and got an appointment for July 22nd. YAY!

I know of doctors in different states that do the pellets. Plus I have a list of doctors from one of the pharmacies that makes the pellets.

Can I post my email address or links here?

Hey, I'm wondering what that "Want to see Heidi Diaz (Kimmer) brought to Justice?" is all about?

Just nosey I guess.

Here's one of hundreds of videos about BHRT.

In case anyone is interested, there's 6 videos on youtube that explains this better.

I'm not the type of person that believes celebrities just because they're celebritites. It just really makes sense to me.

A woman told me about this when I was in treatment for alcoholism and I have been investigating this and found that Suzanne has survived breast and cervical cancer without chemo and by doing the hormone replacement instead.

France has been using this for 50 years and the women in France are the healthiest in the world.

Why, thank you for asking

Here is a good recent synopsis about halfway down Page 3.
