Amber: Again, congrats on the loss. It really sounds like you're doing better with JC than with LC. Do you have any thoughts about why that might be? I've heard not every body is made to do well on LC. Do you think this is a possibility for you?

Katy: So you just ate whatever you wanted? Right now, I'm at that stage. I ate a butt load of sugar yesterday under the guise of kicking myself out of ketosis once and for all. Then, I had a BK chicken sandwich today-with most of the bread. I'm trying to keep the refined carbs limited, but I'm still worried I'll balloon. Tell me I won't gain 80 pounds with this pregnancy if I eat what I want...

So right now, we're experiencing bad storms. I'm experiencing nausea and paranoia, so I'm up with you gals. I think I'm going to go make myself a chocolate milk-type beverage and try to get back to sleep, since the dopplar radar does not show "impending death" on any of its projections.

I made my two difficult revelations today. My first friend, who you've heard about, is the one who lost her baby in February. It helps that her sister's pregnant, and we were eventually able to laugh about how tired we both are/were at this stage of pregnancy. At first, though, it was a bit sad telling her that I'm expecting. It also helps that she knows of my journey and of how much we really, really want this.

The second call was to a dear coworker who has also been TTC for over a year. They've done clomid, injections, and even IUT (I think that's it), as well as that weird fallopian clearing medicine stuff. They're currently working on adopting, so I hope that works out for them. She was SO EXCITED when I told her! She screamed and ran to tell her husband. I think she had a bit of the vicarious joy, what she would have experienced if they had gotten a BFP. It was so nice to hear her enthusiasm. She's already told a few of her closest students...

Which means, I think I need to tell my principal tomorrow. What do you guys think? On the one hand, it's really early to tell the boss. He's busy with transitions and plans for next year, and this would be a pain in his bum. On the other hand, I want him to hear it from me first. What should I do?

Nik - I'm so happy to hear that you were able to share your success and get the feed back that you needed . Reading stories such as yours, gives me a hope that God will do the same for me and mines.

Now about telling the boss? I know you will figure it out, you are a smart cookie .

I personally waited to tell my boss, but not as long as I said I would. I was going to wait till I got out of the first trimester, but I think I was at the end of my second month. So it depends on if you feel like it or not. One thing is that people think I'm further along than I really am b/c they've known for so long.

Hey ladies!

I had an appointment with my doctor today because my blood pressure has been getting low and making me feel bad. She cut my meds by 75%! So now I'm on very little meds for the blood pressure. That's exciting.

She also said that if I'm not pregnant by Christmas this year, she will refer me to a specialist to figure out what the problem could be. I'm hoping that things will happen and I won't have to go that far. I have decided to temp this cycle, which I've never done. I bought a basal thermometer and am entering my temps on fertility friend. Any advice for a temping rookie?

The thing I loved about fertility friend was that it had a charting course that took you through all the basics of fertility charting. My advice would be to actually read through the material, as impatient as you probably are to get started. It really helped!

Well, I am definitely NOT telling the boss on Friday. I moved Friday's appointment up to today because I experienced some minor spotting this morning. The ultrasound tech said everything looks good and normal, but we have to wait until next week to measure any growth before we get the all clear. Please send me some sticky dust! I've had a rough day.

Nik - I'm sending you extra good vibes, prayers, and sticky dust tonight. I can't even imagine if I saw spotting again how upset I'd be. It's definitely "normal" but scary. Are you cramping? Is it pink or brown?

As far as JC vs. LC for me, I find that both work if I'm following the plan. For some reason I do better when I'm limited in what I can have. I do best on LC when doing Stillmans b/c I'm so strict but when I just do "atkins", I find that I'm eating far too many calories and LC treats. I think right now I'm doing good with JC b/c it's new, everything tastes great, and it feels like cheating, especially coming from doing LC. Plus I am spending so much money each week on the food that I'm not letting myself stray.

Amm - create a free account with fertilityfriend.com It's a fantastic and easy site to use. Get a basal thermometer - I got mine from Target but any drugstore should have them. It needs to measure to the tenths of a degree but it's even better if you get one to the one hundreths. Regular thermometers work too but basal's are usually more accurate. The key is to put it right next to your bed and to take your temp before getting up and at the same time every day. I take mine when my alarm goes off during the week and only take mine on the weekend when I'm close to O. But when I first started I'd wake up to take my temp on the weekends and then go back to sleep. The book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility explains charting as well but fertility friend is free and easier to get through then the whole book. Let me know if you have specific questions as you go. I started about a year ago to see if I was ovulating and it's been a wonderful help. As soon as AF starts I'm going to restart charting and continue with it and OPKs until I get pregnant. Good luck!

Speaking of exercise, I got a wii fit and I'm in heaven! I highly recommend this. Although I've only logged 30 minutes of time on it but so far so good. I worked up a sweat and my wii age is only 24, which made me happy. It did scream out that I was obese so that wasn't fun, but it gives me something to work at.

Yes, I really ate whatever I wanted. I had mild morning sickness and would throw up if I brushed my teeth without eating breakfast first. Like I said, I craved protein and water so that certainly didn't hurt. I have mentioned before that while pregnant, my binge urge completely went away. I was okay with "just one" brownie for once in my life. Still not sure why but it definitely didn't stay that way! LOL

That is awesome! As far as charting advice: set your alarm for the same time every day and just roll over and grab the thermometer before getting up. To be honest (TMI warning), I ended up doing vaginal temps as opposed to oral; it was way more accurate for me.

Try to remember that spotting is very, very normal in early pregnancy. I know it is worrisome, but we are all sending you sticky dust! I didn't tell family or work for 12 weeks because I was very cautiously optimistic.

Thanks for your encouragement. I've been searching the internet for "normal" bleeding in early pregnancy, and found a whole scad of women who claim to have had healthy deliveries after months of bleeding. I know it's strange, but it makes me feel better. I'm making a big deal out of nothing, I'm sure, but it's so scary... The spotting this morning was light pink, like blood tinged mucous. I swiped three times, then it was gone-so not much. It didn't return all day. Of course, at the ultrasound, it's too early to tell anything. The good news is that the sac is where it's supposed to be. I'm about 5 weeks, and everything is intact. Next Thursday, they'll see if there's been any growth. Let's hope!!

Amber: Congrats on sticking to plan. Keep it up!

Kat~ Negatory on the store. My sister's air conditioner broke so I wanted to get Tucker out of the heat ASAP. I have scheduled my MIL to come watch Tucker for me tomorrow so I can for sure get it done! We are tight on money...more so than I thought we would be when I decided to stay home (I do massage 2 afternoons a week starting last week but it's slow going right now). It sucks. I am having to watch money for the first time in a long time so I might not be able to get all the yummy stuff I had on my list, but I will get cheap stuff to eat that is still LC.

Katy, bummer on the AC Hopefully things will pick up for you I know how much it sux to have to watch every penny but with gas prices raising the cost of EVERYTHING it's pretty much a necessity for everyone. That's what sucks. I worked at the nicest spa in probably the state and was not allowed access to any client information. Sooooo, I am starting from scratch. I am thinking of running an ad in the paper though so my clients might see me and where I'm at now. It will pick up soon though cuz I give an awesome massage

Ryan wouldn't let me go into the office today. I didn't have any appointments on my books but I always still go to get my name out there and in case anyone wants a massage last minute. We are having terrible weather, possibly tornadoes today. I know I am weird, but I tornado season. I would love to be a storm chaser.

Our local Craigslist is full of "sensual" massage therapists so I wouldn't want to be mistaken for one of those. Plus, there will be times I will be in the office alone so I would rather pull from the patients there (its a chiropractic office where my BIL and mom work, and I worked there in my early college days) so I don't get myself into an unsafe situation.
