(Copy of a post from the Getting healthy for baby board...can you tell I"m too tired to think about writing twice...)
There's a heat wave coming tomorrow! It's going to be 95+ for the next week or so. It's about 80 this week, and it felt like 100 degrees to me. So, I'm trying to figure out the best course of action. I have to go to Trenton on Monday and Tuesday, and thats about a 2 hour drive (work), I decided to ride with a co-worker instead of driving, I have a feeling my swelling's gonna get worse.......Not to sound like a spoiled sport, cause I'll gladly take it, I'm more concerned about Elijah, b/c the doctor says that I have to remember that when I'm hot, he's even hotter, and to avoid any harm to him, I have to be hydrated and cool when delivering in the summer time. Next week I'll be 32 weeks, and he'll be almost full term in a little while. My body's gone through a lot of different stages, and this month is the fright stage of delivery. Not knowing what's going to happen if he's going to be ok. But I know God already knows, so I'm at peace. It's just weird how your hormones change as quickly as your body does. I'm going with DH to Picture People on Monday to take our maternity photo. I'll try to post it.

Dessa:
I'll respond here instead of there. I always thought of pregnancy like a roller coaster. It seems like a great idea, then when you get to the top of the hill, you just want to say, "Um, nevermind. I'd like to get off now." Of course, you would do it for Elijah, but it is scary. Here's some unsolicited advice from someone who's gone through it:Have a plan, and have faith. Have faith in your baby, your body, and your creator. You were MADE to do this, girl! In the end, have faith in your doctor. If anything goes wrong, he's there to make sure it works to the best possible outcome, and there's not a darn thing you can do about it. As counterintuitive as it may seem, just relax in the delivery room. Ready or not..... ![]() I've had killer nausea today, and almost lost my cookies twice. As weird as it sounds, it's comforting to feel so icky.

I was the same way. Dh always thought it was funny that I would get so excited about puking! But to me, it was just a message from Tucker that all was well!

Nik, Thanks for the words....I figure the Lord makes us very unique to handle and understand the natural urging of our bodies, and I have proof of that this pregnancy so far, so I'll trust in Him, myself, the baby, and the good team of physicians I have.
I never got the chance to puke (TMI?) but I did get nauseous a whole lot. The first time I was making dinner, and as soon as I pulled the meat from the grocer out I thought it was completely spoiled...it was a horrible smell. DH didn't smell anything. For the first month, uncooked meat repelled me to not want to eat it after cooking it. Since I didn't vomit, the food aversions were reassuring. So, I feel ya on that one. Does it bring back all the memories of the past pregnancy for you? Or does it feel like its going to be different already? We're going to wait a year before trying again, and I hope that it's as good as this. |

Dessa, it was very exciting to see both heartbeats...almost made me cry to know that they are both ok in there
I can't wait to see your maternity pics. I'm going to get some, myself. And DH and I always get anniversary pictures taken in November, but I think we will take them early this year so we can have them done on the beach before I get TOO hugely pg.Ive been feeling queasy myself, more and more lately. It was really bad this am when I got up to get ready for work. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it, but I felt better after eating the only thing that sounded like I could keep it down, a couple pieces of toast with pb on it and an orange. And I have definitely noticed a strange food aversion already...Chocolate! Just the thought of eating a candy bar makes me gag a little bit. And normally, I am a total chocoholic! I just noticed it over the past few days. Really, it's the thought of almost any candy that makes me want to gag. I guess thats actually good though, right? lol PS, I posted my latest U/S pic in my journal, if anyone is interested in seeing it ![]()

Krysta: I wouldn't say I'm having cravings or aversions, but when something sounds good, NOTHING else will do. I mean, it's not that I start out craving that one thing. I just get hungry, and go through the list of possibly edible things. When something sounds like I could keep it down, I HAVE to have it. Yesterday, it was Pizza Hut. Today, it was chocolate milk. Weird. I drank a whole quart of chocolate milk, then spent about fifteen minutes laying down on my mom's bathroom floor, certain I was going to lose it!
Dessa: This is so incredibly different than last time, for many reasons. One is that I was nineteen while pregnant with DS. I took it for granted that everything would be fine. I worried about nothing and just went on with my life. Pregnancy, schmagnancy. I didn't realize how fortunate I was to experience it at all. This time, I'm committed to noticing and recording every last gas bubble so that I can relish the experience again and again, if it never happens again. I have two fantastic pregnancy stories: ONE: I decided I would not get sick with DS, and for the most part, I was right. I would slowly sip water or chew Tums whenever I felt nauseated. One morning, I was on the computer and felt the urge to vomit. I told myself, "I'm not going to vomit. This is mind over matter. I can control this. I don't need to vomit." By the time I swallowed my pride and started running to the bathroom, it was too late. We lived in a tiny apartment, but I still only made it halfway down the hall. I puked on the floor, then cried because I had been so stupid. DH (my shackin' up boyfriend at the time) just laughed, but he cleaned it up for me! What a dear! TWO: I'll try to make this long story short, especially since you know where it's going. About three weeks after I conceived, but before we knew it, we were having a party and broke out the Ouji board. The "spirit" kept telling me to leave. When we asked its name and age and stuff, it reported that it was a zero year old boy named "Amama." It kept going to those letters over and over again, and telling me to leave. Specifically "Nikie-go away." It was bizarre, and I thought my roommate was messing with us. When I found out a few weeks later that I was pregnant, I wondered which of my dearly departed loved ones was looking out for me that night, and trying to protect the unborn soul I was carrying. ![]() THREE: Ok, here's another funny story. Smells did gross me out the first time. I couldn't stand to do the dishes, because DH would leave his plastic lunch containers closed in the sink for a few days. I convinced him that I could not possibly do dishes while pregnant, so he took over. Today, he still does the dishes. ![]() So this time, I have a lot more nausea than before. With DS, it was mostly heartburn, not nausea. I am also more tired, but I think that has to do with my physical age and mental maturity: I'm willing to slow down. It may also have to do with the fact that I'm convinced I'm having a girl. Here's a fun one: I think we have a name, and I want your feedback. I'm not going to share any opinions, just give the name and get your HONEST feedback. We're trying it on for a week, as in, "This is our name, let's see if it fits." Drumroll..... Annabelle Sue So whaddya think? What names are you trying on? Our boy name is Noah Jonathon, but we've had that for ages. |

Will and I havent really even thought about names. It seems so far away, and besides we don't even know what gender of names we are looking for yet! We've tossed a few around for boys that we both semi agree on, but the girl dept...yeah right. All I know is that if I have a girl, her middle name will be either Margaret (the americanized version of her name) or Margaretha (her real name) after my Grandma, and I'm not budging on that.
ETA: I think Annabelle Sue is cute ![]() |

Krysta, yeah, I know about the name. My grandma's name was Margaret, and my mom's name is Cathy. They'll definitely be a twist on one or both names if I have girls these next couple of times...

Congrats, Dessa! You're in the home stretch now, girl! I can't wait to see pics of little Elijah. I want to see the maternity pics, too.
Krysta: How are ya, girl? I had my second u/s today, and my new estimated due date is 1/31/09! I'm really proud of myself, because I calculated a due date of 2/1/09 based on when I THINK I ovulated. I must have been pretty close! |

hi ladies, I guess I havent checked in in awhile! I have been awful sick this week. Can hardly stomach anything. Ive been living off of Cream of Wheat, Cheerios, peanut butter crackers and fruit, pretty much. Its all I can handle. In fact, I was down 5 lbs from my previous appt at my Drs on Thursday
I weighed myself today on my own scale and I was down 2 more lbs from the Dr scale I actually was able to add in some cottage cheese yesterday. Im trying to get in more protein if I can. But its hard. I can also have a yogurt smoothie every now and then. I'm trying one right now with a pb sandwhich. So far, so good. Everything else pretty much makes me want to vomit. I think Im going to see if I can eat a plain chicken salad today. I can handle veggies, and as long as the chicken isnt fried or spiced, I should be ok. I cant eat anything heavy fat, heavy spice/flavor or heavy carb. Such a pain! (of course, the no heavy carb part isnt a pain! LOL)I had some red spotting on Wednesday night, so I went in to the Dr on Thursday for a u/s. The babies were just fine. In fact, they were measuring 3 days ahead (7w3d)! Dr said as long as there was no cramping or an actual flow like a period, it is normal. Still freaks me out, though. I had a little more thursday night when I woke up at 3am to pee, but it was already more or a rust red/brownish color, so I wasn't too worried. Today, I have nothing whatsoever, which is a relief. But I will be happy when it just stops altogether! I am in my 8th week...less than 5 to go to be out of my first trimester! I will be happy when I hit that milestone. Other than that, my next DA is on the 25th, so about a week and a half. I will post the latest pic of the twins in my journal ![]() Last edited by KrystaLyn : 06-14-2008 at 09:42 AM. |

Hi, Krysta....if you're dealing with m/s you're going to lose weight in the beginning, that's nothing to worry about according to my doctor....I didn't get m/s, I gained 20 within the month after finding out, mostly due to drinking 5 gal of water a day (no kidding). But you're more on the normal side of things, so don't worry. Take your vitamins before bed, so they'll be absorbed while you're sleeping and the babies will not have to lose any nutrients. You babies getting big already.
To new moms: Has anyone had or is scheduled for an Early Screen? It's something that i took (optional but recommended) before m 13th week, it's to detect early problems like Downs that are usually seen later...probably b/c I was over 30, I don't know. Anyway, I took it at 11.5 weeks. I wasn't worried about there being any problems, the Lord makes everything right, but...when I saw my baby as a miniature person it was the most wonderful thing I ever saw.... I could make out his whole upper torso, and his arms were moving in and out of his mouth area, but not quite making contact....by the 6th month he had hit the mark though lol. I went to the antenatal unit of the hospital I'll be delivering in. I strongly recommend asking your doc about it. Still trying to clean a little at a time. I think I hit the nesting stage this morning. DH was sweet enough to get up with me at 8am and do the laundry. Isaiah is here now dusting off anything he can reach, the sweet thing. |

Krysta:
One: I think you should ask your doctor about your gall bladder. Not being able to eat anything fatty can sometimes signal a gall bladder issue, and it's common after weight loss and during pregnancy. Two: I'm having spotting, too. That means it's normal! We're both normal! Our three babies are great! You're about a week ahead of me; which is super exciting. I'm so glad to have someone to gauge my symptoms against. Dessa: I chose not to have any of the "optional" tests done with DS, and I think I'll opt out this time, too. No doubt that seeing the little guy will be awesome, but like you said: it's out of our hands. I bought my diaper bag today! It's from a company called Thirty-One (a home-based party company). You can see it in their online catalog. It's black quilted with a black and white paisley stripe at the top, and I'm having it embroidered in lime green: little getz (our last name). It's super cute! |

You're right about that, Nik. I never doubted that Eli was ok, I think I was u/s crazy..any reason to see my baby. At that time they did detect the fibroids though, so it caught something.
My next regular appt is this Thursday. A week from tomorrow is our final u/s. The doctors there see very little reason why Eli won't make it full term, so they're just doing this as the last one, b/c anytime after that he'll be almost due anyway. |

Dessa: The longer you wait to get your pics taken, the nicer the subject will appear! Will you wear a tight shirt, or just unbutton a shirt to show off your baby belly? I really like this idea, but I still have lots of fat on my stomach, so I'm not super excited about going bare. What do you think?

Nik, I have to tell ya, my stomach pre-pregnancy would give you nightmares
....lol. Even when I lost the weight, I could not get rid of my kangaroo pooch, and even though I've got the legitimate right to show it off, I don't think I will. I thought that I wouldn't show much b/c of it, but actually it was obvious pretty fast, so anything I wear now shows a huge pooch. I like wearing empire waist dresses, they make me look the biggest and the cutest. I'll probably wear that. I am going to take belly shots with the digital though. I wish I would have taken month by month digitals to track the progress, to match my many u/s. How are you feeling today, btw...have you actually vomited, or is it strong nausea? I did have some nausea, but it never got too far. |

I'm going to try to take belly pics as I go, but it will be difficult. With DS, I only took a pic when I was OBVIOUSLY pregnant, to distinguish between the baby and the fat. This time, I'll wait until my pants start getting really tight, then I'll take a baseline.
I'm actually feeling SUPER today! Thanks for asking. The thing is, the pregnancy symptoms are reassuring, so I can't really enjoy my good days. When I feel great, I worry that something's wrong... I haven't actually vomitted, and I wonder if some of my nausea earlier on was from worry. Now, I'm more relaxed and feeling better. I keep telling myself, "Everything's going to be fine...you are ready for this...you deserve to accept your blessings..." It's really hard to psch myself up to receive what we've been waiting for all this time. However, I think I have a bed picked out, and I'm going to go look at a carseat this week. I've already purchased my diaper bag. Shopping makes it feel more real. If I have things around me that I can see and touch, it helps me focus on that unseen blessing. |

Nik, you're fine. Take the good days as a good day, and since nausea makes you feel comfortable, more at ease, it's extremely doubtful to be a byproduct of worry. You may be having a more easy 1st trimester like I did, some food aversions and nausea feeling but not strong m/s, which should be celebrated, b/c you AND baby are fine!

Nik, I actually had my gall bladder checked out less than a year ago by my Endo and it was fine. I think it is just an aversion to anything heavy. Or sweet. But I have to say, I am getting SICK of bland food!
I started taking my vitamins at night, and yesterday, I felt pretty good all day. Still some queasiness off and on, but nothing like it has been. I was actually able to eat some of dinner! So I thought taking the vitamin later was the trick. Well, lo and behold, today was one of my worst days yet! I am STILL sick and it is 7:45pm! Sigh. PLEASE, just tell me this will be over with the first trimester! I think I can make it if I know its only for 4 more weeks! Other than that, I havent had any more spotting, but of course, I am paranoid that it will start again at any time. And my tummy area was feeling sore the past day or so, like it is stretched out. And by the end of the say, I seriously look like Im 4 months pregnant! All the bloat :P But of course, even with all my complaining, I am so happy that my little ones are still hanging in there! |
