Sorry this is TMI, but ? about flow

Im sure if this is related to WOE someone here can fill me in before I waste a trip to the Dr's.
ok here is my history:
Mom of 10, pretty regular 28 day cycle, slight cramps during menses but not bad enough to take anything for, period starts right away med-heavy bleeding the first 2 days then tapers off and lasts 4-7 days with the last 3 or 4 being just dark discharge...
Here is whats been happeneing since I started low carbing,
First period came on day 20 everything else normal
then no period till day 42 but everything else normal
NOW period here day 28 but I feel like I am hemoraging, I have not bled this much during a period since I was a teenager ( prior to having kids I would be in bed the whole first day sick with cramps and heavy bleeding )
Right now I am not having any pain at all just the bleeding and small clots.
Is this a part of the normal estrogen thing. Also my period didnt start right away, it was like spotting the first day then day too ..gush..For the first time ever I had to wash sheets because of blood, I would compare the bleeding to the first day after having a baby.
As far as supplements I just started adding CLA and GLA to my normal
multi, calci, magn, potasium routine. and I just started Callenetics 2 days b4 menses started
Any imput is valued, I already know if its like this I am headed to the doctor in the morning, just trying to figure out if this is in the realms of normal.
Sorry I know this was really long.
Thanks

Sorry your having such a rough time! I had the same problem when I started low carbing and added in the CLA\GLA combo, after doing some research I discovered that GLA isnt that female friendly. Im like clock work so when I started having problems after years of being on time and the same duration I started looking into what I added to my diet.. then my sister started experiencing the same thing and she was taking the combo as well..
as soon as we stopped taking them everything went back to normal after a week or so...I think there are a few others here on the boards that have had similar problems...

hope this helps,

Kristy

Thanks alot, I wasnt sure so I stopped everything except my multi-vitamin and today it slowed down a bit. I will give the GLA to my dh, I dont need this again,Im already anemic I took my iron pills and I felt better as well. They need to put a warning on that stuff. thank you so much for your reply Kristy if it didnt get better I was going to the doctor today. How many months did it take for your cycle to be normal?

Your welcome! my cycle was pretty much back to normal the next month, my sisters took a few weeks more to straighten out.. I think it depends on your body, as soon as it gets rid off all the gla and your hormones straighten out you'll be back to normal in no time!

and I totally agree there needs to be a warning on it!

hang in there

As you lose weight your periods will be a little wacky, especially with low carb. There are several posts about this where some more knowledgeable people discuss the science stuff behind all this but it is perfectly normal. It'll take a while but your body will catch up to the changes. Good Luck!

Im sure low carb has something to do with it, but I had the same problem as she did when taking GLA and after doing some research on it found that it does tend to mess with monthly cycles, if you go over to the CLA\GLA threads you'll see that there are a couple women over there that had the same problem due to the GLA and had to stop taking it.. it's funny how my sister and I both had the same thing happen while taking GLA but it stopped as soon as we stopped the GLA... things affect people differently..

Ok thanks, I will check out the cla/gla thread, but for now I just stopped its not worth feeling like your bleeding to death, this is my third cycle doing low carb and while I will admit they have all been wacky since low carbing, this what feels like hemoraging didnt start until the ClA/GLA
