Opinions needed - tacky/size/fashion question

Be gentle. My mother drank when she was pregnant and I was raised by my Dad. He was responsible for dressing me for years. Thank God he remarried, it's a miracle I know how to put on a bra!

Here's the question: I normally wear bermuda shorts and an oversized Men's T-shirt. I also wear a fannypack because I have memory issues and got tired of forgetting my purse. The t-shirts I wear generally cover about half of my butt.

I'm losing weight. I have some size 20 Misses elastic-waist shorts that are too baggy, almost. So baggy that I'm scared I'll flash if I put my work keys in the pocket. I have been wearing some 18 bermudas in denim and I feel OK with the fit. I usually wear them to work.

The question, I have one more pair of bermudas, also size 18, same manufacturer. Instead of denim, they're made out of cotton twill. When I wear them I can see a partial panty line. Same with my 16/18 elastic waist shorts, they fit a lot better but there is a partial panty line. The impatient part of me says, hey, the T-shirt will cover most of it anyway but I don't want to be tacky.

I feel I should wait until there's NO panty line before I wear them in public, but maybe I'm wrong.

I am so not wearing a thong.

So the question is should you have visible panty line or flash people?

Something like that. I haven't flashed yet but I worry about it - another reason for the fanny pack, when I wear the larger sized elastic waist shorts.

I see nothing wrong with pantylines.
As long as you're not wearing black underwear with white pants.

God no. One time (step) Mom caught me about to leave the house, wearing white cotton pants, wearing white panties covered in small red hearts. Ooops.

My goal is to stay off the show "What Not to Wear". DH is blind, I don't want him to run screaming if he got his sight back.

I'm terrible. I tell him my face is covered in these terrible warts. Everyone's just too polite to mention them.

He actually talked me into going to a photobooth at the mall on our second date. He took one photo, and showed it to all his freinds. "Is the pretty?"
