I'm back. Sore but back. He did not want to come out. It took 3 doctors pushing down and one pulling to get him out. I feel like someone beat the crap outta me, but, I made them let me go home yesterday afternoon. I hate being in the hospital.

Little Brandon Leroy is here. He was 8 lbs 3 oz and 21 1/2 inches long.

He was born at 8:51 am on Monday. He had some trouble breathing at first, fluid in his lungs, etc. so he had a short stay in NICU. Thankfully it resolved itself quickly I am excited to post some pics but still really tired. I will post some as soon as possible and update more as soon as possible.

Sandra - Lindsey is beautiful.

It's raining babies...

Brandon and Makayla, I am sure they are gorgeous and as loved as can be. So super for all the new Mom's. Way to go girls, it's always something special.

Sandra: I think your baby is the spittin' image of you! I saw your posts about improved breast-feeding and I am super happy for you. It sure can be tough and I admire anyone who manages to do it. I also admire anyone who chooses what's best for themselves too - all that matters is that our babies get fed somehow.

Love to all - so super thrilled for the lot of us.

Sascha Lily (now almost 8 weeks) is doing fantastic. I can sometimes get her to sleep for 4 hours at a stretch which is better than my older daughter ever did at her age. We did get RSV 2 weeks ago and spent a few nights in the hospital and it was terrible. We are still struggling with her rocky breathing and stuffy nose - but all in all she's much better than she was.

Make sure you let your doctor know before it gets worse, its so easy to just want to forget and think it will pass but it doesnt. upload your pictures to your computer then at the bottom of your post it will say "manage attachments" click on upload and insert your pictures if they are sized right then it should work.

Hi all, feeling better...over the crying spells. I called the doctor and was instructed to call back if it lasts more than 3 weeks. I think I was going thru the hormone rollercoaster those 2 days. I feel like a different person!

Here are a few pics.

Congrats to all the New Mommies!

Boy have I missed a whole bunch! I thought the thread had gone inactive b/c I didn't see it in my subscribed threats, DUH to me for not remembering a new month, new thread! At least I made it before the May thread is up!

I'm so happy to see all the little baby boys and girls, it's amazing. How are the babies adjusting to the "outside"? Keep us posted, is there a new mommy thread, or parenting thread out there? JOY JOY JOY

I'm getting bigger and bigger. 7th month, 3rd trimester starts tomorrow. I had Braxton Hicks about 3 weeks ago, which the doc says is about 4 weeks to early. B/C of the fibroids, and the size of my uterus, the doctors are pretty certain that Elijah will come about a month early. That's a little scary and exciting at the same time. As long as he's healthy, I've read boys aren't as strong as newborn girls, so that worries me. But then I know God is with me and him, too, so he'll be just fine.

I'm trying to get myself together in what I need before he's here. The nesting is starting to emerge, but DH's dragging his feet. He has a thousand ideas but hasn't put them to work yet. Dealing with a frustrated pregnant wife isn't helping him either. I have a shower scheduled for July 12 (Not a surprise, since my family has to drive from SC to be here). Everyone tells me not to buy anything until then, but that's worriesome b/c he might be here already, any advice?

Again, YAY to the new babies! Absolutely beautiful and joyful to come back to seeing them all. A lot of springtime babies here and almost here. OK, summer moms, we're almost there!

Dessa - you can keep it very simple by getting a few things before the shower, just in case:

at the very least, you need a package of diapers and some wet wipes, something for him to wear and somewhere for him to sleep - that's it! (Oh yes, also portable changing pads for the living room couch - that's my second changing area).

If you're planning to BF, you need 2 boobs (well, one at a time) and if you plan to feed formula, get a can. Everything else can sort itself out - do you have a crib? Do you expect one as a gift?

If I think back on things we bought, things we received:

Must have:
Diapers, wet wipes, a couple of bottles even if you BF
Formula if you do not intend to BF (and good backup even if you do)
Crib/bassinet/laundry basket (kidding about the last item, but heck, a drawer would do in a pinch - my mom did that for me for the first couple of weeks)
A few onesies outfits (but, don't bother and buy anything except maybe a few preemie outfits - people will always buy you clothes - as long as you have 3-4 preemie outfits, people will probably get newborn through 6 months).
Blanket
Diaper cream

Nice to have:
Pacifier (doublecheck to make sure newborn size, some are for older kids)
Gentle soap/shampoo (I like Burt's Bees)

The rest will sort itself out through gifts, showers, and things you can buy yourself. Most important he has nourishment and love - the rest is of material nature.

Those sound like easy enough items....I think we're going to do the crib, since I want a match to the sleigh bed that's in the other room. We only have 2 bedrooms now, and I don't want to throw out the sleigh bed since it's brand new and never been used and will be needing it for the house next year......

I'm not sure about breast feeding, I get a lot of "advice" on whether to absolutely do it, or don't ever do it!! lol. But I'll definitely try before I decide.

I didn't know pacifiers had sizes! Oh my! Thanks so much. He sucks his thumb during the u/s. I hope he doesn't do that when he's out, b/c I had a hard time stopping myself. I saw a lot of preemie onesies and shorts at walmart at a VERY good price and in so many colors. I opted for the 0-6 months, but I guess i can get the preemies and return them if he's not early. Thanks for the suggestions!

Dana,

I guess everyone is busy since we had so many new babies in April

No one has started a new May thread and it's already halfway thru.

We're doing okay. I'm trying to adjust to sleeping 3-4 hours at a time. I think Brandon is going through a growth spurt - he wants to eat every 2 or so hours for the last day or so.

I'm trying to get him to sleep in the bassinet. He is only wanting to sleep if someone is holding him or he is in the swing. I've elevated the mattress in the bassinet so that his head is higher than his bottom. We are also having some issues with gas and constipation. Anyone else have any problems with this? We are trying 1/2 oz. white grape juice mixed with 1/2 oz. water daily and have tried glycerin suppositories (I hate doing that). He still seems to be struggling with it. I hope it gets better.
He is also not an easy burper so we are having some trouble with that. Okay other than all that he is a perfect baby!

How is everyone else doing?

Shayla~Do you formula feed or breast feed? One thing you can do is add some probiotics to his bottles to help his digestion. I found a liquid one online and I give Tucker 1/2 tsp. daily. It is great for their health in general but it will also help him out with his digestion. If you formula feed, have you tried different brands/types?

I also tried a product called Colic Calm. It is all natural and homeopathic. Not sure if it helped or if he grew out of the problem, I only used it a handful of times before his gassiness eased up. Have you tried Mylicon drops?

For the burping: if you lean him a bit to the left when you burp him, it should happen quicker and easier. It has to do with how the stomach is positioned. Every since my BIL told me this (he's a dr.), burping Tucker has been a breeze.

For the sleeping: Have you tried putting him to sleep on his belly? I know everything we read and are told advises against it, but it's the only way Tucker sleeps, otherwise he startles himself awake. We have an Angel Care Monitor that monitors breathing so I don't worry about SIDS with him on his tummy; I know the alarm will sound if there is a problem.

I hope something I have mentioned will help the little guy!~

Shayla - what kind of formula are you using? I'm doing a combination of BF and formula and am using Organic Earth's Best and Lindsey skips back and forth with little trouble. I wish she'd BF more, but it's touch and go, day to day.

Katy, can you give me the name of the probiotic that you use? Re: leaning baby to the left when burping - sorry for the silly question, his left or YOUR left? Since he sleeps on his belly, is his neck strong? I read that this is the downside of back sleeping - that babies don't strengthen neck and upper body as early.

Lindsey sleeps on her back - we have a monitor which I HATE because of her apnea when she was born and all of the false alarms. How do you attach yours (do you have the little rubber sensors)?

I'm starting her with belly time - 5 minutes or so at a time and she's gradually learning to raise her head and her legs are already strong enough to scoot (by plowing her head) along the leather couch.

How are the other PG mommies doing?

Hi, everyone. Hope everyone's having a nice weekend with their babies (inside and out). Mine could be better. Had plans with DH that were cancelled for our anniversary. I'm not the happiest person right now b/c it was our last chance to have a trip alone before the baby gets here. So to the contrary of what I tell others, I'm electing to be grumpy for a while.

If I didn't already mention, 2 of my fibroids disappeared, which is great, and substantially lowers my risk of pre-term labor! According to the antenatal specialist, he's likely going to stay cozy inside until he's full term!

I also went out yesterday with my girlfriend to a yard sale and I found a never used crib and changing table in the exact color and style I wanted for $50. That was definitely a sweet surprise, b/c I was just tagging along.

How far along were you ladies when you started prepping for the nursery. I at least want to get the room cleared out (office stuff), and I think DH is moving too slow, but it may be anxiety on my part.

Sandra we are using Enfamil Lipil with Iron. I am interested in the probiotics as well so Katy come on in here and tell us about them

I also want to know which left too

So how is everybody's baby sleeping at night? How much are they eating?
Brandon still is sleeping a whole lot during the day. I can't remember how long they do that? I'm wondering when he will be more alert.

It's hard to believe I've done this twice before but you forget all that stuff or at least I do

How is everyone?

Just flying by so I don't have much time...

Burp on the baby's left. I sit Tucker on my lap, lean him forward and to HIS left just a tad. A few gentle pats and it's all out!

I just googled liquid acidophilus and chose the one I wanted. I went for a plain flavored one because I wasn't real excited about giving him anything flavored. At first I was syringe feeding it to him but starting today I am going to pump a bit and add it to the bottle. He still has cradle cap and my mom was telling me that was a yeast/candida issue. I think mine came from eVitamins by the way.

I think 11-12 hours a day is what newborns sleep...ahhh to be able to do that Makayla is at 3-3 1/2oz every 2-3 hours. I hope everyone is doing fine I am sorry I have not been here much but you know how it is with a newborn and other children. take care everyone
