Yay Lindsey Marie

Sandra,

So very happy for you and your husband. I can only imagine how scary it is when your child has a health scare. Lets all hope and pray it was just a temporary incident and she will be strong and healthy from here on out.

I am very glad your delivery was picture perfect and I pray you and your baby are back under the same roof very soon.

What a good news day.

Susan

CONGRATULATIONS Sandra!!! Welcome to the world little Lindsey! Apnea can be scary, had it w/my dd and she was in NICU for 10 days (she was 6 weeks preemie). You can do it! I'll be looking around to see how you are coping and hoping for pics.

Sorry to jump in on y'all's pg thread, but saw the news and had to post!

Cryssi - you're so soon - are you getting excited?

Susan - it was unbelievably scary - I stayed out of their way while they were bringing her back, tears just running down my face.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, Carol and Fawn - thank you. I'm still amazed at the little one - Until last year, I'd never really thought I'd have a baby, and now I can even recognize my 3 day old baby's scream in the ICU amongst 19 others.

Shayla - how are YOU coming along? You're next, then Cryssi, right?

So, finally settled down for the story - still need to upload pictures.

We went into the hospital about 7 am, and finally had water broken about 9:30. I walked and trotted around, trying to get contractions going so I wouldn't have to take pitocin (my preference is always fewer meds and drugs). Not much luck - so finally they start a pitocin drip about 12-1. By 1:30, the contractions are so bad, my back was arched and I started negotiating - what are my options, etc. and if I get an epidirual right now, what is the risk of c-section.

At that point, contractions were like 2 minutes apart and I thought I was going to die - by the time the anesthesiologist came in, I was borderline panic, afraid he wouldn't be able to do the epidural between contractions. I've never had a panic attack before, but I was sobbing and almost hyperventilating - and the anesthesiologist was yelling at me that if I didn't calm down, he'd leave - that didn't help me at all. I was finally able to sit still for the epidural and then for some reason afterwards, I just started crying and crying - no explanation, I still don't know why.

About an hour or so after the epidural, I started delivery - and within an hour - she was here. As I wrote above, everything seemed perfect and John and I were alone in the delivery room with her when she stopped breathing and her entire little body turned purple. I get shivers even thinking about it. They were able to bring her back and now she's in NICU under observation. We're both getting infant CPR training this weekend and will have a baby breathing monitor for a month or so until we're sure everything is fine. I honestly think we'll look back and remember that scary moment as Lindsey's purple hiccup - no explanation, never to happen again.

I'll try and post pictures over the weekend - need to get software loaded to the computer so I can download pics from the new camera.

Congrats Sandra and welcome to the world Lindsey!!!! That is so scary that she stopped breathing! I have the Angel Care monitor, it's a regular sound monitor but it also monitors the teensiest movements (i.e. breathing) and an alarm will sound if no movement is detected for 20 seconds. My dh has terrible sleep apnea and Tucker happens to prefer to sleep on his tummy so I sleep very soundly knowing that an alarm will sound if the worst should happen. I got it as part of my registry at Babies R Us if you are interested, I know if that happened to us, I would be paranoid forever.

I can't wait to see pics!

Sandra ~ to you and baby Lindsey. I know you were scared. The angel monitor sounds like a good idea and the peace of mind it would offer would be worth it. I'm thinking about getting one too since I'm so paranoid of SIDS.

I think Cryssi has been experiencing some coming into labor symptoms so she may beat me yet If not then I'm next scheduled for early Monday the 28th for my c-section. The closer it gets the more nervous I get. I haven't had a little one for 5 years. It's like I've forgotten everything

I'm taking the girls out today for some mommy and us time maybe to shop and get some lunch before the new baby comes. Hopefully they won't wear me out. Seems that they think the baby is making me mean (shorter tolerance, yelling quicker). I overheard my almost 5 year old ask her daddy if the baby was making me so mean

Can't wait to see pics of little Lindsey!

I dunno. I have been having your typical mild contractions, but nothing regular or strong.

We see the perinatologist today for a growth scan then my OB Wed, so we'll see what they say.

Believe me though, I beg and plead every chance I get for them to get him out already

Hey all!! It's been forever since I've been to LCF because I'm pregnant now, and I just got permission from doc to eat modified carbs because I've already gained TWENTY lbs...so I'm glad I found you ladies!!!
My story:
March 07-August 07 I lost 60 lbs just in time for my wedding in October. January 08 we're PREGNANT and expecting in September!! So I've already gained 20 lbs and doc says to watch my carbs...so I'm back on the wagon!

Welcome RECkate - you've arrived at a busy time for us - we're just all popping out babies!

Good luck, Cryssi....wishing you and baby all the best! Midnight seems an odd time to be inducted, you'll have to give us details later!

Melissa - wow, you, too - could be any day - I never knew all of my specific stats on effacement or stations - just that I was 2 cm a week before and 4 cm the day before being inducted.

For the two of you - if you are considering epidurals, my recommendation - get it as early as possible, within reason - Once I got my pitocin, I went from pain 2-3 out of 10 to 10 out of 10 very quickly and he was barely able to get the shot in between contractions. I would have preferred to gradually progress without the pitocin, but it was like a roller coaster, slooooooooooooooowly uphill, then when they started the drip, it was like a roller coaster - hit a peak and fast fast fast.

Looking forward to pictures!

Shayla - you're definitely next, amiga - looking forward to it!!!

Texoma - any updates on the previa?

AND - more new mommies need to join the thread as we graduate!

RECkate - let's hope you're one of several - it does make it fun to compare stories, etc. with other like-minded folks paying attention to the eating and the baby! I know that made a huge difference for me - the low carb focus kept me in check - I'm already down almost 20# from last week - and about 11 to go to match my first obgyn appt. - and that's my first goal to be at or below my starting weight when I go in for my 6 week checkup.

You'll probably beat me too My cervix was checked today and although I am contracting it is hard and closed (the reason I've had 2 c-sections already - my cervix doesn't want to open) So I am just accepting that it will be Monday.

RECkate - I remember you from the other boards. Congrats on the pregnancy and you've definately come at the right time! We all seem to be due on or around the same time right now so we are baby slingin'

Sandra I don't know. It seems my kid wants to stay in as long as possible. I think Melissa may beat me too It's okay though it gives me a few more days to get some *rest*

I am scheduled Friday morning for the anesthesia appointment. I haven't even packed my bag yet I'm a bigggggg procrastinator. It should be my middle name. Of course it seems the baby is too

I can't wait to see pics of Little Lindsey and Noah!!! I hope everything went well with Cryssi and that she got the epidural before the pain hit 10.

Susan, Katy, & Dana, you know we want more pics of the babies!!!!

I'll check in later. I'm fixing to call it a night.

Congrats Sandra on little Lindsey! I hope there's been no more purple hiccups and she's doing well.

Hope all went well for you Cryssi! I was induced w/ my first, 36 hrs later after next to no progress they decided to take me in for a c-section. by that time i was more than ready to go under the knife LOL but i carried both my munchkins really, really high and neither ever made and attempt to drop down.

Good luck to you other ladies who are also just about ready to pop!

hi RECkate! looks like we're the new guys here LOL...
i had my first doc visit today, i was suprised they did an ultrasound this early, but i found out i'm right at 9 weeks and am due on Nov 25. So looks like a Thanksgiving baby! Of course the first thing my husband said is "that's right in the middle of hunting season!!" Men.... I asked the doc about diet, he kind of frowned on the low carb thing, but i figure once i'm feeling better and able to eat a little more protein (meat makes me want to gag right now ) i'll just stay away from really high carb foods and call it good. Hopefully I don't pack on the lbs in the meantime. right now all i want is baked potatoes, those nachos from the gas station (don't ask me why LOL), cheeseburgers, and crunchy tacos. luckily i've only gained a pound or two so far, hopefully i'll be able to keep the lbs to a minimum. i only gained around 20lbs each w/ both my previous pregnancies, so i'm hoping for the same here (is there a smiley for keeping your fingers crossed )

will check back in later, hope everybody stays well!

ok, just saw your pictures Katy, OMG he is absolutely precious! the video is priceless! my little guy had the same faint marks on his forhead as young baby, i'd almost forgotten about them! they still pop up on occasion if he's really, really mad, but for the most part they're gone. makes me hope the next one has them too.

Katy,

I loves those boogie suckers...of course I call em yuck-yucks. Those big ones are the bomb. I still have the ones from my other children.

He is soooo precious. I can hardly wait til' Monday- I'm getting restless. My dh is determined to name our child after himself (it's pretty bad ya'll) and at this point I'm too tired to give a rats you know what. So if he gets picked on throughout his childhood he can thank his daddy and pop-pop.

Cryssi - where are you girl? Hope everything went well and that you and baby Noah make it home soon cause you know we want the pics .

Sandra - post us some pics girl! I know you're dead tired but we all have our own selfish needs to see baby Lindsey !

How is everyone else????? Please check in!

quick question... anybody drink protein shakes when they're pregnant? i'm having a really hard time eating meat and the doc says i need to up my protein and dairy. dairy isn't a problem for me right now, but the thought of meat ... i asked the nurse and she said it depends on what else is in there. not much help... any thoughts?

i drink atkins chocolate royal shakes (they are cheaper at walmart) and my ob said that is fine. no sugar and protein. they taste good and i don't get sick. i also eat the morning start bars for a snack and they sit well. i made it to the ob (he is use to me) and i am 20 wks. when he checked me the baby kicked him he said it was a first for him. tues my ultrasound so i will know what we have. feeling good and not gaining but swelling in my legs a bit. driving too much.

I just popped in here for a second to see how everyone is doing and saw your question about the shakes. I had them throughout my last pregnancy (baby is 2 now). In fact I had shakes so much that I went and bought Dana Carpender's low carb smoothie "cookbook". I figured that being pregnant and exercising I could up the carbs without much worry--as long as they were the good carbs. If you would like any recipes I could share, but since they are published I cannot post them. PM me and I will gladly share. Her book is seperated into Friut Smoothies; Desserts and Lattes; and Mixed Drink Smoothies. Just let me know what your style is, me-I am a chocoholic--can you say "Death by Chocolate", she has a recipe for it!, and I will pass along what I can.

btw, what great pics and congrats to those who have had their little ones already. I remember existing on shakes and yogurt and soup my first weeks home with Kyle. Stuff that was easy did well for me. I wish you all well.

well i'll definitely start drinking the shakes. i've really been lacking in the protein department and have to do something about it ASAP.

dawn, the smoothies sound great, but i can't PM you still, not sure why. maybe i'll see if i can find the cookbook at the library. the death by chocolate sounds right up my alley LOL.

congrats cryssi, your guy sounds so tiny! hope all is well. mine were 8.6 and 8.15, thank goodness they were both by c-section! the 2nd one never even fit in his newborn clothes and looked like the michelin baby till he started walking.
