Good luck tomorrow Mel

I used my bullet!! I made the kids strawberry and banana smoothies. I had to taste it and it was so yummy! So very healthy for them as well- I love that! I attempted egg salad mainly because I had eggs I needed to get rid of but I think I whipped them too long- came out as mush. But that's okay...I am having fun!!

Christina! You are in big trouble for neglect of your magic bullet!
Good luck with the move. How ridiculously busy it's going to get for you!

Mel: That makes since now about the internet. Good luck tomorrow! Do you have your calculator out so you can add up all the pounds we've lost in the past week? I'm hoping you'll be able to ADD weight loss from me instead of subtracting it! Today it was close, but I'm hoping for a big loss by morning...

Katy: Walking the baby sounds LOVELY! I love the old English term for a stroller: perambulator. FUN!

Today's menu:
B: egg cream
L: peanuts, 2 pcs swiss cheese
D: parmesan tilapia and creamed curried shrimp
S: Not yet, maybe I can avoid it? I know I skimped today. I wasn't feeling the best at lunch time. Maybe it was the three raw eggs I had for breakfast? (Really, I'm LOLing right now, for some stupid reason. I crack myself up with the most ridiculous things.)

Tomorrow:
B: egg cream
S: Amber's muffin
L: today's salad
D: London broil
S: If necessary

For my mom, what are some life saving induction foods that you enjoyed? She's having trouble getting enough calories and wrapping her mind around the idea that she should eat more fat. I'm trying to help her!

OOOOH! I bought a new pair of spring shoes: open heeled black heels. I also bought three shirts at Cato. SOOO needed new shirts, and that was even before I spilled my coffee on myself this morning (again.)

Hey girls. Checkin' in.

Today was great food-wise. I stuck to my plan completely and feel proud of myself and less bloated already. The only deviation was with some added coffee and cream but nothing else. And let me say, the spinach was fantastic. It's my favorite veggie - organic spinach sauted in butter with fresh minced garlic and a pinch of salt. Mmmm....

Belle - Yeah for the MB finally arriving!! It seems like it took forever but I guess it was really only a few days. Did it come with a recipe book?

Katy - sorry about the water boil advisory. That stinks completely. At least you got outside for a nice walk today though. It really sounds lovely. I can't wait to do the same!!

Mel - good luck tomorrow!! Hopefully you don't get the nervous stomach jitters I do on my first day! I'm sure you'll do fantastic!

Nik - your menu doesn't look bad really - I'm sure you'll be down tomorrow. Congrats on the new shoes and clothes. I'm such a shoe fiend that I'm excited for you over them - really I am. Are you out of plus sizes yet? When I was last at your current weight I was able to shop at Gap and regular stores so I bet you're there if not really close...

Christina - sounds like we had similar eating experiences over the weekend. Just shake it off and move forward with me. We can do it!

Well it's time for the nightly chores and t.v. I'll post more tomorrow. Can't wait to see everyone's weigh-ins tomorrow.

Oh, sorry Nik, I forgot the induction food requests. By the way, I think it's fantastic that you have so much family support now with LC and Atkins. They must be very proud of you and inspired to jump on the LC wagon too. Do they need meal ideas or snack ideas?

If it's meal ideas, I'd recommend sending them the link to Linda Sue's website. I know some are higher in fat and carbs but they always help get me over cravings and into ketosis. Or, as you know, salads topped with fajita meat, chicken salad, tuna, any meat cooked any way really (except fried in coating). Burgers with all the toppings w/o a bun. Hotdogs with mustard and pickles. Taco bowls. Cheeses. Cheese cut and fried crips - I like pepper jack or other spicy varieties. Eggs cooked a billion ways. Bacon. Sausage. Quiche. Deviled eggs. Veggies dipped in ranch or celery with cream cheese. Cream cheese muffins. Deli meat rolled up with cheese, mayo, lettuce and tomatoes. Faux philly cheese steaks (heat up roast beef w/ cheese and onions and peppers until melty). I think a few macadamia nuts wouldn't be too bad (although I realize not induction). Egg drop soup (chicken broth w/ eggs in it and maybe scallions or some other veggie). Soups. Jerky. Pork rinds. Shrimp/seafood.

Okay, I'm making myself hungry so I have to stop. Let me know what kind of ideas they need and I'll definitely help you brainstorm.

Good night everyone!

Thanks for the snack ideas. My mom needs help getting her calories up, so I'm trying to get her to eat foods that she's not used to. I'm taking her one of your chocolate muffins and a cheesecake muffin tomorrow, with the recipe. (I know, the chocolate muffin is not too good for induction, but she's worried about fiber, and that's what I have.) My family members are trying Atkins out because they all just saw my success and how good I look (not sickly like my aunt who's on Alli, or sickly like my other aunt who's on crack).

I am not into boutique shopping yet. I CAN fit into their largest size (most XL tops and size 14 pants) but I have NEVER shopped at a boutique before, so it's a mental thing right now. The closest I ever came was wearing men's XL Aeropostale sweaters. Those are great, btw. It was nice at Cato because I shopped in the regular area for XL shirts, then went over to the women's area for 14/16 shirts. Soon, though, it will be all over for me in the women's section!

I ended up having some MB chocolate mousse for dessert.

So, ladies, I need a bit of insight...

I know DANDR says to do maintenance level carbs while breastfeeding. But a new breastfeeding group just opened up on the board and one of the ladies has a 3 month old and just started induction. She said her supply hasn't been affected at all. I am really considering it because I am out of control most days, just grabbing whatever carby crap I can shove down my throat while I have the chance.

If I do it, I think I am supposed to wait until Tucker is 3 months because that is when your breastmilk supply is firmly established. What say you?

A. Definitely wait for three months.
B. Your body needs more energy while breastfeeding.
C. If you go on induction, do you think all the nourishment in the breastmilk will come from the fat stores (including the toxins and chemicals you've been exposed to in the past ten years or so)?
D. Follow the advice of the good doctor. It's worked so far!

Morning girls,

Just checking in... Today I am down 2.5 lbs... I was in total shock that it was that much! Praise the Lord! I'm on my blackberry so I'm gonna see if I can update my siggy from it....

Katy- I think you need to have more carbs at this point in time.. But I'm no expert... Maybe you just need to give your self some more structure.

Nik- + think cream cheese (if it can be kept under control) is a good idea. Also bacon was a good one for me.

Have a good day girls!

We are trying to conceive - hoping losing some weight, cleaning up diet and increasing exercise will increase my odds - i'm going to be 39 in October. Did conceive last October but it was a blighted ovum and I miscarried at 6 weeks. The Dr. told us to wait until I had 3 cycle to start trying again. We had some other issues going on (my husband was injured in November and didnt' return to work until March) so I was too stressed to think about it much. We didn't "not" try but now I am actively trying again.

I was wondering if anyone else on here has had luck conceiving after switching to low carb woe (atkins) and how it at all you would need to modify fro pregnancy.

Also - I saw some notes earlier in the thread about OPK's- My Dr. told me about this thing called an ovulation scope. It's a little microscope that you spit on each day you are testing - let it dry then look at it and if the spit forms a ferning pattern you are ovulation - it's very COOL - very reliable. I got mine online for like $15.00 and you can reuse it forever.

I was on Atkins induction when I conceived Tucker. After the pg test was positive, I no longer did low carb but only gained 21 pounds so I didn't go hog wild by any means.

I used the saliva ferning kit but I ended up switching to the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor. Looking forward to getting to know you!

As for me, the scale was up this morning so I'm afraid I can't add to everyone else's loss. After reading your feedback, I looked more into WW for nursing moms. I have the points slider from way back when I tried WW. It's never really worked for me before, but it will at least be a way to be more accountable for what I'm shoving into my piehole.

Regrettably, I have to report a gain of one pound this week. It's okay with me if Mel just leaves my total as it is, and I go from LAST week's weight for next week's change. I've slowed down, it's true...

I have lots going on right now, and I'm very tired. I'm going to just check back in tomorrow.

Cinder: Welcome!

Thanks for all the food recommendations, ladies!

Stinky: My favorite LC smoothie recipe for the magic bullet is almond milk, cream, liquid sweetener, and five strawberries, plus whey protein.VERY YUMMY!
I think I'm turning into a pumpkin. Goodnight!

Welcome Cinderella!

Have a great day girls!

Menu:
B: eggs scrambled w/ onions
L: Chicken thigh with peas
S: yogurt
D: Chicken breast and hubby is cooking since he's off today.

oh great news... my new insurance starts on may 1st! So I don't have to try not to get pregnant.. How horrible would it be to have to prevent it from happening! But thankfully there is no waiting period for insurance here just the first day of the month following your employment! So it's business as usual for TTC.

Hey girls. Phew, it's been a busy last 2 days for me. Okay, first things first, I'm down just 1 pound. I guess that's a victory considering I was cheating so badly not too many days ago.

Second, I had my post-miscarriage doctor appointment (finally!!!!) and everything was fine. My doctor said that the only thing unhealthy about me is my weight but it's not making anything else on me unhealthy (currently) - all vitals are well w/in normal range and he said he gives me the thumbs up for TTC and hopes I get pregnant soon. He said to just wait one more month to give my uterine wall lining time to get thicker. So I'm planning to TTA until June and then go for it full gusto. I'm going to take full advantage of the next 5-6 weeks and try to get down 10+ pounds at least by then.

Okay, now to personals...

Belle - hey hungry girl!! It definitely seems like you're hungrier than normal but you've still dropped 2 pounds a week so who cares! Did you make pork BBQ or chicken? Recipe please? Do you just eat yours plain or on a salad or what?

Christina - you can't say that you're down in weight and then not share!! What a tease!!

Mel - congrats on your insurance coverage starting so quickly! Trust me, it really does stink to have to TTA so I'm glad that you're not in this boat with me.

Nik - I hope you're not discouraged by the gain. You're so close to onderland and to your goal weight now that your body is doomed to need a breather and to slow down a bit. I know next week will be better. How is your family doing? Are they in ketosis yet??

Katy - it sounds like you've decided to jump on some kind of plan and I think it's a good idea. Just formulate something that works for you that will give you enough nutrients for you and your baby. You can worry about WL in a few more months but for now just maintain and keep taking him on walks and you should be fine.

Cinderella - welcome! This is a great group of ladies and we're glad to have you join on the adventure into motherhood. I'm not a success story yet but so far with just dropping about 20 pounds, my cycles have gotten shorter, more regular, and my ovulation is more consistent. I also got pregnant last cycle but it ended in a very early miscarriage. I can only imagine that if I continue to eat LC and lose weight that I'll just further increase my fertility. I used OPKs for the first time last cycle and I really recommend them. I haven't tried the salavia thing but it sounds pretty neat. I may look into it once I use all the OPKs (I bought 100!). Oh, and as for modifying your diet once pregnant, I think you can just switch to maintenance level carbs (anything that keeps you out of ketosis) and do well. Although I've heard that when pregnant your food tastes go crazy and cravings go crazy so I can't really vouch for how easy it is to stay on a plan when pregnant. My goal will be to just gain around 15-20 pounds since I'm already overweight when pregnant.

Okay, I've written a novel. Sorry if I forgot anyone. I'm going to check the ML and get to sleep early tonight.

Cinderella- Welcome!!!

Well not all oh them are 'real' pounds, they're just ones I gained after last weekend.

Amber - I'm glad to hear all is well. That's one thing I'm the most nervous about. I got pregnant with my son when I was somewhere between 190 and 220 ( I didn't have a scale and because I was 16 and not telling my mom, I didn't get to the Dr. until I was almost 4 months) You're so strong.

Belle - Thanks for the congrats. Hopefully it'll stay off and go stick to someone who needs the extra lbs. LOL

Nik - Your weight loss is truely an inspiration. I'm sure you'll pick back up in a week or two.

Yesterday's Menu
Breakfast: 2 eggs
Lunch: Salad w/ 2 slices Turkey and Mayo as dressing
Snack: SF Jello
Dinner: 2 pizzas (LC pita crust), 1 with Green Peppers

Water: 119oz

Today's Menu:
Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 sausages
Lunch: 1/4C Mickey Mouse cheese shapes
Snack: SF Jello
Dinner: Chicken, Cauliflower, Broccoli w/ velvetta

Water: about 125 oz so far and I'll probably drink another 16-32 oz before bed

If I'm below the weight I was this morning I will post the average of the two tomorrow.

Hi, everyone. Whew, so much activity. I've been reading everyday, but too lazy to respond.... I see everyone is doing the right things and success is starting to show. Don't worry if you gained a little bit one week, it's just a new week to get it back together, and being a woman, hormones can attack our progress sometimes. I wish I was full throttle in my WOE before PG, then I would have more discipline, I think. Some weeks I'll be the health queen then one day DH and I will be ordering off the buffet. (Another )

I'm at the highest weight I've ever been, 228 or something around there. I was around 200 at conception. This month saw the greatest gain. I haven't been in full exercise mode , and I know I really know I should move, but my momentum and energy is horrible. I'll sometimes walk around the office. But, now that it's getting warmer I have been moving more and when I do go to a restaurant or eat heavy a few bites makes me uncomfortable so maybe I've seen the worse. But my vitals are very good, and next is the 1 hour sugar test. Pray for a negative result .

Elijahs, fine. On Sunday in church I had a very strong tightening pain in my belly 3 times. I told the doc on monday and she measured my uterus. It was definitely Braxton Hicks. Which isn't the best news, b/c the size of my uterus is about 4 weeks larger than it should be, and the false labor contractions were a month early. Because of my fibroids and the Hicks, I have to see the doc again every two weeks. They think that it's a very strong possibility that I will go into pre-term labor. If I go into labor after 32 weeks, they will just deliver him. I'm 25 weeks today. If it happens before then, I will have to have medication to stop the labor. I was concerned, but I have a great team of docs and an even greater GOD to take care of it all. I haven't had any more contractions since. He's kicking and flipping more and more to let me know he's here to stay. Just in case he's a month or so ahead, we're going to start our nesting next month instead of June as planned.

You ladies are doing swell! Keep up the good work. It's all going to be worth it!

Christina- I those Mickey Mouse cheese shapes...reminds me of my Happy Place (bad you Nik! kiddin)

Amber- I put a roast in the crock pot and cover it with a mixture of tomato sauce (as LC as I can find), red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar, wostershire sauce and brown sugar substitute. Sometimes I add a splash of dijon mustard. After about 10 hours in the pot, remove the meat and shred with a fork. I serve mine as is with a side of veggie. Kids love it in hamburger rolls. I would imagine you can use a pork roast or chicken.. Congrats on the good news with your appt! It is great you have your mind set to get as healthy as possible before you TTC again. Your body will be stronger for baby. 100 OPK's??!! you will be testing like a mad woman...you just wait and see!
