Supplements for easing PMS??
So, yesterday I woke up four pounds lighter and a hormonal basketcase, I don't think I have ever cried so much or been so moody, not even when I was pregnant. Then today, I woke up 4 pounds heavier. I know this is because of PMS, but I have never experienced PMS this severe, I am curious if anyone has any supplements they take for the soul purpose of easing PMS symptoms. It has been so bad for the past 2 days I am really considering going to the doctor for some kind of prescription. I really hate taking medications but if I can't find some relief I will have to...Please help out ladies...TIA

I have read Johnny Bowden's "Living the Low Carb Life" and I can tell you what he recommends and has given his clients over the years with great success.
"For women with PMS, GLA is just about a necessity. It has been used for decades as a treatment for PMS and is an essential part of the "PMS cocktail" I recommend in my practice with great success: GLA,magnesium,B6,and neptune krill oil. Since cravings and carb binges are often part of PMS, improving PMS symptoms becomes a big part of sucessful weight loss for most women. With the PMS cocktail, you should see results within three menstrual cycles." Hope this helps-I take all except for the krill oil but I have never had PMS very badly. I am in perimenopause now and feel these supplements with the addition of flaxmeal and fish oils helps with this. Hang in there! ![]()

lisabinil, thanks so much, I am going to get the book you referred to, I currently take magnesium, and B6, fish oils, and flax meal, so adding 2 more if it will help relieve this is a small price to pay. I never had PMS like I have had since I started LC, I know so many people recommend LC for PCOS, so I would have figured that those symptoms would have lessened instead of intensified. Curious if that is also addressed in " Living the low carb life"

It says that the link to the GLA is not valid, and I can't find it on the site. Do you have another link? |

I have noticed that B-12 helps my moodiness around TOM, so I started taking it daily. It has helped a lot with my overall mood as well.

Many years ago, my gyno recommended this every day:
Calcium 500mg Magnesium 400mg B 50 complex It took at least a cycle or two, but it made a huge difference! I still take it every day, although I've added more for other specific needs. |

I take Evening Primrose Oil, rich in GLA. One per night before I go to bed, I barely notice my period come on. I also use a natural progesterone cream to keep my periods regular as I am in the middle of peri-menopause.
Good Luck! |
