Help! Can CLA/GLA mess with my cycle?

I am having some breakthrough bleeding mid-cycle (it's more like brownish discharge than blood flow though right now, very minimal)...this has NEVER happened to me before. I have been on birth control pills for the past two years and have not had this happen from taking them. I also do not think it is because of missing a pill (I did miss one 3 days ago before the bleeding started but I have missed a pill on occasion before and this did not happen)

I did start taking the CLA/GLA combo 3 days ago. That's the only recent change I can think of which may effect my body. Do you think this could have any effect on my cycle? Maybe it is interacting with my BC somehow.

OMG now something else has happened to me that has never happened before...I just got done working out for the first time while on CLA/GLA...and I have heat bumps all over my stomach!!! There are a zillion and they are not going away! I've only ever noticed (rarely) a couple on my legs afer working out. I did not do any more activity than usual...I was hot but no more so than usual. I know heat rash is caused by trapped sweat but could I be having a reaction the CLA/GLA? My body is being so weird! Help!

If this is your first cycle while using CLA/GLA, then I would be hesitant to think that it is the specific cause of breakthrough bleeding.

As far as the rash question goes, I think you'd be better off asking that in the supplements threads. I would recommend that you keep an eye on the rash and if it doesn't go away then you should consult a health professional. One easy way to tell if it's spreading or diminishing is to take a pen and draw a line following the outline of the rash. If it's smaller tomorrow, then you probably don't have anything to worry about. If there's no change or it's bigger, get thee to a doctor.

Update: The rash is almost gone...I did remember that I happened to put lotion on my stomach before I worked out so that probably clogged up my pores and caused the heat bumps.

Three days is very sudden for Cla/Gla to have effected my system that much to interfere with my cycle...I think I will keep taking it and if the bleeding doesn't diminish by next week I will stop the combo and see what happens.

I gave it a week and every time I worked out the sweat bumps would reappear. For 4 days I stopped only the borage oil but kept taking the CLA to see which was making this happen. Nothing changed. Then I stopped everything for the past 5 days. For a couple days the bumps still came back but only slightly and went away after an hour. On Thursday, there was hardly any hint of them. So CLA definitely caused the bumps. But nothing changed with the bleeding yet. It seemed to diminish but today has increased b/c it's turned into my period so i'll have to wait until after that's over. I wonder if I can get my money back. *sigh* I wish the combo would have worked for me
