New Mommy Thread ~February 2008~

I forgot it was a new month! I posted in Jan. I hope everyone is doing well and please post any replies here. Here is what I posted in Jan
Ok so Alyssa had another 102.6 fever today. I am not sure if I mentioned before but she has been getting high fevers alot lately. We are iffy about antibiotics because of the amount she was on when a newborn and I feel unless they do a WBC and make sure it is elevated I wont give them to her. We are getting a little concerned because when she had sepsis they never could tell us why she developed it right out of the womb and now she is constantly sick. I just feel helpless because at this age they pass it off as teeth and at this point we are not so sure it is teeth anymore.

32 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's fantastic!!!

We had the stomach flu, we were all out of commission for a few days. Me, DH & Ty. and then the daycare lady got it. UGgghhhh!! I'm so ready for spring. I'm scared to death of the flu after our RSV and pneumonia incident. Any little cough and I'm paranoid.

Anyway, this weekend I'm making Ty's first cake. I'm using fondant. Anyone ever used that? What are you doing for Alex's birthday? We are going to MIL this weekend, then the following weekend my family is coming over for tacos/mexican and we'll have another cake. I CANNOT believe he will be one year old... they really don't stay babies very long...

We were going to do his party on Saturday, but we've been sick, so I just postponed it to the 1st. We are making Jamaican food, and I am making healthy carrot cake cupcakes.

Hey guys! Alyssa is going some better, she had a double ear infection has finished the antibiotics and as soon as she did got a cold. The congestion is making her unhappy but she tries to be her normal self. I cant wait until spring and maybe the sickness will be over. She is now obsessed with the word kitty and says it all the time.

Congrats on the weightloss Chrystee, that is terrific.

I imagine it would be really lonely sometimes. DH is not military but for a couple of years he worked 6 days a week, from 7am to 11pm. It was very lonely. That was a really rough patch in our marriage. I didn't realize the toll it took on both of us until looking back on it. I'm sorry, I know it's hard.

Ty is doing really well. No sickness since the hospital, (except one night of vomiting and diarrhea). We had another hearing test, he passed with flying colors this time, we don't have to go back for 6 months instead of every 3. He wears his glasses really good now that we got a strap. He doesn't fuss with them at all.
Today I'm making him a cake. We are going to the in'laws tomorrow for his birthday. I really really can't believe it's been one year. It really takes me back to that day. Such an emotional day. A roller coaster really, from being scared out of my mind of having a baby, labor, then his breathing problems, then the minute they put him in my arms I knew he had DS, and all the emotions. That day my worst nightmare had come true. TOday I can appreciate him for who he is and say he is truly a blessing. My dr said in the very beginning to me at a visit "God knew who to give Ty to" I didn't realise the impact of what he was saying at the time, I was too caught up in grief, emotions, hormones. I'm sorry, I don't mean to get all emotional.. it just brings back a lot. What I mean to say is, I am so so thankful to be Ty's mom.
Have a good day!

Hey girls!!

I'm glad Alyssa is doing better! She's so adorable!

Mia is walking!!! It started last week and now she can walk from one side of the room to the other without falling down! Granted, our rooms are pretty small, but I'm so proud of her! Of course now that she's walking I'm busy chasing after her all the time.

Maybe that contributed ot the fact that my weight has finally dropped to the 167.4 this morning? I'm so glad to be out of the 170s, I was stuck there for four months for crying out loud!

Tomorrow the whole family and our friends are taking a day long trip to Trier, Germany. I'm excitted but I'm also a bit nervous about the food we'll end up eating there. I hope to stay low carbing though. Also, Sunday DH is taking us out for brunch where lots of sodium is going to be served, I'm starting my water pill early.

Have a great weekend girls!

Oh what a cute picture of Alyssa! What a fun crafty project! (the valentine crown) I'll have to remember that!

How did Alex's birthday go? Ty had a great time! He did not like wearing the birthday hat though... you'd thought I'd snapped the elastic on him the way he whaled about it. I'll post pics in a montage. We're actually celebrating it one more time this weekend with more family. so how much more weight have you lost??? I'm so happy for you!

Congrats Lucky! I can't believe little Mia is walking! Yep, you're going to be busy now!! It's like we want them to be mobile so bad, and then when they are we wish they still just layed there on the blanket so we could get some stuff done! Just yesterday, Ty was down on the floor playing and I was in and out of the living room putting away laundry and stuff, and when I came back in I had to go looking for him! He had crawled all the way into the kitchen and once he got to the tile he was scooting like crazy, (I guess because the tile is slick) that's really the first time I haven't been able to contain him in one room. The baby gates are going up for real this time!

Wonder how Jess is doing? and all the other new mommas.

Hey gals.... sorry for the long absense. Work is crazy and I am feeling so stressed at the office all day, the last thing I want to do when I get home is hop on the computer AGAIN!!! Good news is I am working on finishing up my degree. I changed my major to Health Science and think I might shoot for some type of Nutritionist/Holistic Practitioner/Naturopath (not sure yet but thats the direction I am headed) But I do want to say Happy Happy Birthday to Alex, Mia, and Ty!!! I want montages!

I am sooo excited that Mia is walking now! And congrats on the weight loss Lucky. I know how it feels to be stuck for 4 months. I am living it now. Cant get past 160 and I really wanted to be 150 by Macy's 1st birthday. I still have 2 weeks to drop a few more... I am going to try super hard!

That is great that you celebrated Ty's birthday twice. I was thinking of doing that for Macy also. One for my mom's side of the family at her house and then one for my girlfriends with kids at my house on Sunday. We shall see how much energy I have for all of that. These days work is so crazy and hectic, on the weekends, I just want to crawl in to my sheets and veg with Jeff and the girls! I need a vacation!

Chrystee how many lbs now with the Nutrisystem? I might take a break from low carb and switch it up to see if I can break this plateau. Nutrisystem would be awesome for me since I have no time to cook or prepare meals right now. What's good?

I think Macy needs this surgery also. I just hate to do it when the massaging technique has worked to unplug it but every 2-3 weeks its blocked again. I don't want to do any surgery that we dont have to. Was it intrusive? Did it hurt her? Give me the lowdown bc I am sure Macy is headed down that same path if we can't get hers to stop cloggin also.

Macy!

The surgery was all of about 10 minutes and you would never know she had it. The scary part was her being put under but now she is recovering fine, she isnt fond of the eyedrops but it is ok. If she needs it I would have it done soon if we would have waited much longer the surgery could have been much worse and the dr said the chance of it blocking again is higher the longer you wait.

I hope everyone is doing well to all of you.

happy birthday Princess Macy!!! Gosh it's gone by so fast!!! I don't want my Ty to grow up either!

What has everyone been doing?

Ty has major asthma issues. We've already had several attacks with the weather getting warmer. One of them I induced accidentally. It was a beautiful day and I took him out in the stroller for a walk. I felt soooo bad. I practically ran home to get a breathing treatment. I'm keeping an eye on the tree pollen. The days that it was "high risk" were the days he had an attack. So scary. I hope it doesn't last.

Chystee~ how's the weight loss going?

Kris~ to you and Alyssa. Surgery is surgery but I'm sure she's bounced back!

DId I miss the March thread? Or have we just been posting in this one? Lol

It's official!!! I'm back down to the weight I was when I got pregnant!!! My goal is to lose 10 more down to 125, the lowest I've ever been since college. I'm training to run in a 5 K in a few weeks. Running has really made a difference in my tummy too. It's *almost* the same as before. Still a little pudge, but it'll go down more I"m sure.

Have a good Easter weekend everyone!! Any easter bunny pics?

Hey ladies!!! Happy to easter to all our little kiddos!!!! As you can see we had some easter pics taken. Macy cried the whoooole time so to get ones as good as these, I was super lucky. The only way I could get her to stop crying was to let her hold the easter egg the whole time. So much for using these pics as a Father's Day surprise... hehe!

I am so proud of you Mandi! I need to run. I want to run. But I dont. Comes down to it I am back in all my clothes, Im back to pre preggo, and I am comfy here. Not happy, just comfy. I want to be 140. Ive never been that low. I did buy an ipod so i can start walking on my lunch break. Get some more of that good Florida sun! We will see if i really walk tho. I am so lazy!

Beautiful pictures jess!!!! Just beautiful! You look gorgeous!

We are having major major asthma and allergies. I took him again this morning to the Dr because he is wheezing and has been for a month, His cough is not getting better despite all of the meds I cram down his throat on a daily basis. Zyrtec, singulair, reglan, mucinex dm, Qvar inhaler, breathing treatments and now an antibiotic for an ear infection... grrrrrrr Hopefully soon we'll get it under control. It's so scary when he has an asthma attack.
