~+ Stop in, if you got pregnant while eating Low Carb +~

I was just curious on your thoughts about Low Carbing and pregnancy. I see many on the boards, that have low carbed for a while, and then they pop up with a BFP. I'm a firm believer that EVERYTHING happens for a reason, and God brings life, and takes life. BUT, I feel that low carbing may be an aide with TTC. Your thoughts?

Hello
I had been doing Atkins for 5 months when I became pregnant, and my husband had done atkins for 1 month. I think it helped us since we were trying for almost a year. Maybe the weight loss helped or maybe just being healthier from eating healthy. I don't know?

I did get PG when eating low carb. I had just lost around 50 lbs and at a weight lower than I'd been in years.

My doctor believes it is due to the weight loss, healthier food choices, less artificial foods and a more active lifestyle. I'd have to include a happy "me" as my attitude was so much more positive on LC.

TTC and just starting induction

I'm so glad to see your posts. I'm on day 5 of induction and feel a glimmer of hope. My DH and I have only been TTC for about 6 weeks, so I'm not too worried yet, but still. It's amazing how fast I went from scared to go off the pill to OMG I want to be pregnant NOW!!!

For those trying to conceive, have you read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility"

I had no problem conceiving my first two children with my first husband. We decided two was enough, so I had my tubes tied. We divorced and I married a wonderful man who had no children of his own. We wanted children together, so I had my tubes rejoined. We had a bit of trouble after the surgery conceiving, and this book answered a lot of fertility questions and just made me more aware of my body. Even if I didn't take my temps and chart my cycle, there are other fertility signs your body gives you.

Just an unsolicited suggestion. The book was a lot of help for me and I just wanted to share with you any information I had that might make your journey easier for you. Good luck ladies!!

WOE: Stop putting CRAP in my mouth!!
Start Date: January 2003/Aug 2008
I have a 2 month old baby girl thanks to LC. I tried for 5 years to get preggo. I had no problems TTC with my 9yo, but then I gained weight and found out I had PCOS. Tried clomid (I don't recommend it) made me phsyco. I took metformin for 3 years, but didn't get pregnant until I dropped below 270. I had a very healthy pregnancy and lost weight the whole time. I had to moniter my blood sugars but never had to go on insulin. I was 245 when I went in to have my baby and I've lost another 20 since.

WOE: Atkins, chasing after my 2 and 4 year old boys!
Start Date: (1997, 2002, 2005) re-start June 1, 2007
Was on low carb diet when both of my sons were conceived.

First time: I had been on low carb before my wedding, lost 30 lbs, and got pregnant on my honeymoon, after being told by a cruel male ob/gyn that he had no doubt he would be seeing me in the next 6 months for fertility issues.

Second time: Was low carbing and on a work out regimen to lose baby weight, and got pregnant after 30 lb loss.

Had gestational diabetes with both, and oddly enough, was put on a diet (by a dietician at the hospital) that very much resembled Atkins Maintenance. It kept my blood sugar under control, I was able to avoid injecting insulin, and had very healthy little boys as a result.

A very close friend of mine, who is a borderline diabetic with PCOS,and was told she could not conceive, got pregnant after losing 14 lbs on LC diet over just a few months.

What have you got to lose by trying? (Other than a few extra pounds and dress sizes!)

Good luck to you, you are in my prayers!

I started atkins in February, but really started getting hard-core about it in the last month or two, and after TTC since 2005, I got pregnant last month with no fertility treatments! We're cautiously optimistic as I've had two miscarriages, but I just feel different about this one.

What a blessing !

I think LCing has a bit to do with it, besides the good master above .

I sure hope low carbing will help with TTC. After having one son, we've been TTC for over 2 years. I've been to specialists and done about everything except invitro. I have polycystic ovaries (though not exactly PCOS...still not sure what the difference is). Anyway, my docs said it really wouldn't help in my case- but low carbing is my last ditch effort for TTC. If nothing else l've lost a few pounds since I started 3 months ago. I'm still taking metaforin also.

Doctors don't know everything and I love reading succcess stories about low carbing and conceiving!

Godsbeloved- I love your name My hubby and I are waiting for God to decide when to give us a baby. We have been TTC for 2 years now and we know that God has a plan bigger than ours. In the mean time I am Low Carbing to get my body healthier for when the baby comes Sounds like a good plan for all of us! Don't worry The bible says:

Deuteronomy 7:14 (NIV)
You will be blessed more than any other people; none of your men or women will be childless, nor any of your livestock without young.

So if we just believe His Word we can't lose

Mel,

Thank you so much for such a POWERFUL post.

I trust the Lord with this, as there is NOTHING too hard for HIM. I'm touching and agreeing with your FAITH, and I agree that we should prepare our bodies for our precious bundles of joy .
