New Mommy Thread ~July 2007~
Hi girls! I am typing this with one hand because Alyssa is now at the, "WHERE IS MY MOMMY STAGE?". So she has to be where I am.
I just wanted to say that this thread is not only for us new mommies but also for any pros out there who have any advice for us. Anyway yesterday I try to go take a nap because dh is home and I think well he can handle it boy was I wrong. Ten minutes into my nap I hear Alyssa crying, I wait 5 minutes but the crying is just escalating. I finally go downstairs to see her standing at the gate between the living and the kitchen just hysterical. He comes out of the bathroom and says well I had to go. I just look at him. I mean I am sure he had to go but how many days do we hold it till their nap time. I know I overrated it is just hard for me to see her like that. He is always saying how easy I have it at home taking care of her yet he complains if I leave him alone to take care of her for and hour or two. He said what do you have to be stressed about. I told him you try doing it day in and day out. He just really makes me really ANGRY.

He has never been the most sensitive man in the world, I try to not let it bother me. He acts like being sensitive is kissing my ass or something. Is locking him in the trunk of my car on a hot day abuse?

Krisiee - I know what you mean!! Men think that taking care of a baby is so easy but when it time for them to do it they're horrible at it. Mia hates being alone with her dad. Maybe it's because she's more attached to me now, but also it might be because when she's crying he's half paying attention to her while watching TV. *hugs*
I have great news to report! I finally fit into my pre-preggo pants!! I even wore it out with DH to ahve lunch with friends today. It's still a bit tight, but to me I look HAWT! There's also something going on over here in Luxembourg where every retailer is putting most of their clothes on sale at 50% off. Most of the boutiques are way too expensive, but we hit up H&M and bought tons of clothes. I got this cute black dress that I'm going to wear in London, well, if we decide to actually go with all this terrorist activity going on.

Yay lucky
. I am still battling it is so depressing, the pregnancy really messed up my thyroid so weight loss is going to be sloooooowwwwwwwwww.Dh had duty yesterday and calls, he asked how he can make things better I said stop being an insensitive (insert your own word here). So I have a mommy playgroup today ( I wish it was all of us, now that would be really fun) he asks what time I will be home, I said I dont know. He is all sad because he didnt get to see us yesterday like I care. He has to realize that sometimes sorry isnt enough. |

Hi everyone,
I'm trying low carb again. I lost over 100 lbs low carbing but then found myself pregnant. The doctor advised me to up my carbs well...not being able to even look at meat when I had morning sickness...I started eating carbs...lots and lots of carbs. So ended up gaining 70 lbs while pregnant. My little boy is now 6 months old - breastfeeding is going great, no problem pumping enough for him during the day since I work so I decided to come back to Atkins...since I know it works. Well I started induction on Friday, 6/29...on Saturday morning I was a little lightheaded...on Sunday morning I felt dizzy and sick to my stomach and the stick was DEEP purple. Doesn't it seem a little soon for that?? Since I am still nursing I thought maybe I felt so bad because I wasn't getting enough with just eating meat products. So I ate some whole grain cereal (Cheerios) and in the evening had some corn on the cob. This morning no problems. But when I pumped this morning I only got about 1/2 my usual amount. Is anyone nursing and doing induction? Have any problems doing both? Today I'm going to try strict induction again an see what happens. Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to do border line induction...a few more carbs from veggies. I pump in the mornings and two times at work. My mid morning session got me an 8 oz bottle...so maybe I just didn't drink enough water over the weekend?? Not sure but I know I'm going to stick with both! My girls are starting today...the youngest wants to do South Beach after the two week induction. So I'm sticking with it for them. Thanks again and have a great day!

Loveton,
That's great! 8 oz sounds good to me :-) I also forgot to tell you to drink TONS of water. That's the most importnat thing. I noticed as soon as I would cut down a little. Also, I only drank water .... no soda. The diet soda seemed to have a negative effect on my milk too. I wanted to comment about your sig line... I too gained lot's of weight in pregnanies but wouldn't trade my babies for the world! It was definitely worth it :-) |

Hello!
Wow - Emma's over 2 months old already! We have her next dr. appt. this Friday......I'm excited to see what the Dr. thinks of how she's doing. Hate to brag, but sometimes I think DH is better w/Emma than I am! He's awesome with her, very willing to get up with her at night, comes to get her so he can spend time with her. She's the 1st thing he goes to when he comes home from work, and the last thing he kisses goodnight when he goes to bed. I think my DH was cut out for this fatherhood job! Emma's doing good so far.....I'm trying to figure out if I notice any developmental things she's delayed on, but I'm not sure. Our daycare provider said she's eating 4oz. every 3 hours while she's there. She'll eat anywhere between 6-8oz. before bed, and then sleeps 4-6 hours each night. Once in a while we'll have a bad night where she'll want to be up a lot, but lately she's been good.

Loveton and Jennifer! We are sane here we just may not always sound it. Of course today is the day Alyssa decides not to take her morning nap so she was one grumpy baby for the playgroup but she did ok and even took a short nap on my lap. All the babies played nice but this new thing with noise is getting old quick. Every noise makes her jump and then cry, I hope she grows out of this. Maybe it was worse today because of the nap situation. |

Low carbing is probably what decreased my milk supply dramatically. It's okay with me though. Mia had two months of breast milk. I felt like a milk slave and didn't enjoy breastfeeding at all. Putting her on formula was just such a great relief. She's healthy so I don't see much of a drawback.
Have you guys started reading to your lil ones? I was at a bookstore yesterday and started reading Green Eggs and Ham to Mia. She started turning the pages!! I was so thrilled!! ![]() |

Well, I wondered why I hadn't gotten any responses here lately..... I forgot it was a new month!!!
Kris~ I would have been ticked too. Is there a way that you can leave her with him for a day or afternoon. Where you can LEAVE the house so that when she cries, (which she probably will) you can't hear it and he HAS to deal with it. But you do a great job ya know, we ALL know how hard it is to be at home 24/7 with baby. Even if we've gone back to work, we were home in the begining. I'm so glad I work 3 days a week. To me it's a perfect balance of mom time and "yes I'm doing something professional" time. To DH, quality time is holding Ty while watching sports center and if he's fussy, then it's back to mom so he can hear the scores... Lucky~ yay for losing all your weight!! I'm not there yet... I do read to Ty a lot. We finally tried cereal mixed w/ formula and he loved it. Just smacked his lips and sucked it down. The first few times a lot was wasted, but now he's getting the hang of it and eats about 2 tbsp of it. Yay!! Welcome to the new moms!! A playgroup of just us would be fun huh? I do feel like I know you all. Well, have a good and safe 4th! We're staying in, don't want to deal w/ the bugs, crowds and it's past our bedtime... lol

I've often thought about leaving Mia alone with Dh for a day..or even an afternoon while I go out. I end up changing my mind because I feel too bad for the baby.

I was wondering where you have been Mandi. I am glad Ty liked his cereal experience. Btw she cries lately when I am in the next room and she is with her dad. If I am not in her line of sight she freaks but if it is her decision to not be in my line of sight thats fine with her.
Chrystee shot day sucks but on the brightside they always sleep good that day. We didnt take Alyssa anywhere near fireworks plus thats past her bedtime instead we went to the outlet mall. It is too hot for her to be outside for long periods. The day before and yesterday she had 4 diapers that werent really wet so we laid off the solids and gave her more bottles. I wish they had baby dressing rooms too, clothes vary from company to company. Most companies she still fits in 3-6m or carters 6m. I hate returning stuff (another way of saying lazy) so I hate getting 6-9 w/o trying them on. Lucky dont feel bad for the baby DH has to learn one day. My hubby spoils her to death and I get really mad. Thats why the gate incident was so unusual for him. |

Thank you Tylar.
Last night we were hoping the neighbors would light our big pine trees on fire that we need to take down. That way we could blame them and they would be down and we wouldnt have to pay for them. They have been messing with fireworks for 2 days you figure at least one of our trees could have went up. |

Thanks Tyler. Congrats to your little one.
Crystee - shot days suck!! How many shots did Alex get? Mia gets two each time, one on each leg. She never cries on the first one but the second one she bawls!! |

Oh good to see a mommy thread!!! I have a little girl that will be two next month. Gosh it just seems like YESTERDAY I had her!!! She's growing up way too fast!!! We got a new puppy last week and last night my DD hugged the puppy and said "My doggy!!!!" HEheh TOO CUTE!!!
My fiance used to be really bad about that...critisizing me about taking care of DD and not getting anything done around the house. We went to counseling and he is SO much better now (it helps now that I am at work). He probably does a lot more than I do now!! He does all of the laundry (washes and folds his laundry, dd's laundry and the towels), but I have to fold my laundry and put it away. We take turns doing dishes--because neither of us like doing them. He CLAIMS he picks up the house after me all the time and is ALWAYS in a big huff about it (he's REALLY good at being condescending and better than me). We used to fight all the time about it because I'd just be a ***** back to him, but I just ignore him and laugh in my head. It's funny--it really is. He's not meaning to hurt me, I think he might be bipolar. He has SOME kind of personality disorder, he agrees he thinks he does. He is a VERY VERY VERY intelligent man. He took his pre-ASVABS (harder than actual ASVABS) for the Navy a few months ago. The highest score they had ever seen on them was a 93 (100 is perfect). He scored a 95--and that's six years removed from high school!!! So yeah, he's brilliant. But, he is very very moody. He gets down on himself ALL the time b/c he had so much potential...blah blah blah. He partied and did drugs in college and got kicked out. He graduated high school w/ a 3.91GPA and had 23 college credits before even stepping into college. He plans on going back to school next year. We'll see. He's REALLY good with DD. She is his entire world. She is what got him cleaned up. He quit drinking, doing drugs...partying... He now loves to spend his weekends at home taking naps with her, going to the park, going swimming... You think I could pry him off of her??? Haha...no way!!!

We go tomorrow for Logan's 6 month check up...three shots and the vaccine by mouth.
The poor little guy gets so upset. As soon as the doctor walks in the door. Then all night we have to make sure the tylenol is given every 4 hours or he cries in pain...he won't even move his legs. Makes me feel SO bad. ![]() Tomorrow is the end of my first week too. Hoping for the best! |
