Nuva ring/early period/rapid weightloss???

Hey! Looking for any advice or other ladies who have been in this situation...

I'm on the Nuva ring, (insert one, take it out after three weeks, leave it out for a week, have a period, reinsert, etc.)

I follow the plan to the letter, I have stickers marking my day planner and I remove/reinsert one on Thursday night, everytime I'm supposed to.

It's always been like clockwork, period starts on Monday/Tuesday morning, ends Thursday before I put in a new one.

I've been on it for a year, and it's been perfect.

This month, my period started exactly one week early. So the ring's been in for 2 weeks, not 3. It's a period, as far as I know, it's not spotting (although I've never had spotting before...)

I haven't changed anything except I've been losing weight quite rapidly on the Optifast program. (Don't worry, I'm happy/healthy etc, and it stops next week.)

Any ideas? Maybe mother nature's just decided not to follow my schedule this week?

Losing weight can make your cycles go crazy cause there's estrogen stored in your fat cells; as you burn those up, you have excess estrogen in your system. I imagine you're experiencing the same phenomenon that a lot of women starting Atkins go through. I wouldn't worry about it too much, it'll probably just be an inconvenience, especially since you've indicated you're about to wrap up the plan that's making you lose super quick.

You can always give your GYN a call if you're concerned, tho

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Very helpful

I'm wondering if I should take my ring out (I left it in, *shrug*) and pretend this is my period week. I'll ask a DR for sure

I had this same problem this month. And I didn't start my diet until a week after my period. When TOM didn't stop after a week, I took the ring out. I think there is something wrong with it, as I had something like this last month too and both rings are from the same box.

A bad batch perhaps? I have an appointment already, I really want to know what is going on.
