Hi
still here and lurking, I know Little Bear is having her baby soon, but havn't heard anything. I can't wait to join the new mommy thread!!!
Thanks JD for starting the new thread. I'm 34 weeks now, hot and ready to have this baby, I had an ultra sound friday and it's still a boy - so 3 boys and one girl, only one wedding to pay for , right?
I've been following the "Slim Mom Secrets" plan this pregnancy and for the first time in 4 pregnancies I haven't hit 40 LBS!!!! I crossed the 20 Lb mark on Wed, so excited.

Congratulations on your upcoming baby! Wow - only 5 weeks to go and only 20 pounds gained. That is awesome. I am currently not pregnant (would like to be soon) but gained 45 with my son. "Slim Mom Secrets" - interesting. Is it low carb? All the best!

Hi
Anna Bird, good luck with conception. Slim mom is an e-book and free website, I think the book was $29. It is moderately low carb, she advocates a protein shake for snacks I make one once per day (not a shake girl) but this extra protein really has curbed carvings I truly am shocked because i'm a mac and cheese pregnant woman, I gained 1 Lb per week with every kid. Check out slimmomcoach.com , let me know what you think - the conversation here at lowcarb friends is much better though.

Hi everybody,

I'm excited I came across this thread. I'm currently 5 months pregnant (22 weeks) and I am trying to keep the weight gain down to a minimum. I started heavy at 260, and I am getting scared because with my last pregnancy I gained 40 pounds. I don't want to reach 300 So far I have gained 8 pounds, the doctor said for my weight I should gain around 15 pounds. I have been trying to eat healthy, but having a very hard time fighting cravings!! I eat like a horse, I feel hungry alot.

I'm supposed to find out what I am having in a couple of days. In the meantime I am already showing and the baby moves all the time!! A couple nights ago it kicked me so hard it woke me up Sure I'll post some belly pics soon.

Oh and btw my due date is September 29th. I am scheduled for a C- section September 22nd. Happy pregancies!!

Hi Ladies,

I would like to join you. Me and DH are currently TTC. Nothing special, just going with the flow. This will be our first child. We are currently raising our twin nephews and they have been MUCH practice. They will be 6 in July. We got them at 5 months.

So I would love to share on this journey with you all. I'm currently doing Induction in hopes, to lose some weight before, or maybe help with the process. Many blessings to all you new mommies or mommies 2 be !

Thanks Mrs I...no I think you did a great job only gaining 20 this time, thats something to brag about! I hope I can keep it down like that too. Thanks for the website also, I'll be sure to check it out when I have more time. I have to go to my dr appt soon to do another sonogram. Lets hope they can tell me what it is this time, lol!!

Hi to godsbeloved too! I'm new here too. Your twins are cuties!! However if I were ever to have twins I don't know that I could handle it, so kudos to you! Your story sounds similar to mine, my husband and I were TTC a few months ago, not really officially TRYING but like you said going with the flow and not doing anything to prevent it. We wanted it to happen naturally....lo and behold a few months later and BAM. Here I am.

jd - hi, i am planning on getting my tubes tied after I have this one. was it painful? how was the recovery time? i want to get mine done right after my c-section since they are going to have me open anyway. I was just worried that this might increase my recovery time even more. I had to have c-section with my first son and it took me a couple weeks to recover.

Have a great day everyone, if I find out what I'm having I'll let you know.

Carbs during pregnancy, how low can you go?

Hi, we are TTC #3 for about 6 months now and I am feeling positive about this cycle, we'll know in a week or so. Really hoping for a BFP!! So The problem is that although I have been an avid follower of Atkins and low carb in general for some time, I have recently gotten off plan during this TTC journey and goined about 15 lbs. I would like to get the extra weight off and start at a healthy weight whether I am lucky enough to be pregnant or not. So my question is if I do get that BFP how low can I keep my carbs and have a healthy pregnancy. I read that Atkins was safe (even induction) but also read that you should only follow maintence. What do you all think? Congrats to those expecting and GL to those trying. Thanks - Tara

Hi Tara,

Umm sorry, what is BFP? Its probably something obvious but for some reason I can't figure it out now In regards to your question though Atkins Maintanence is safe during pregancy, none of the other phases of weight loss are as you shouldn't be losing weight while pregnant plus I heard ketosis can be dangerous for your baby. There will be plenty of time to lose the weight after! In the meantime it should still be safe to eat at lower carbs. Good luck and keep us posted!

BTW everyone, went to my 22 week sonogram today. It's a GIRL!!!!

Thanks you guys Sorry I also occasionally post on a TTC bord and BFP stands for Big Fat Positive (home pregnancy test) Another one I couldnt figure out for a long time was POAS (Pee On A Stick) so if you see reference to that you'll know what it means. I'll keep you guys posted. Do you think it would cause any harm to do induction for these next few days before I find out if I am pregnant or not? If I dont get my BFP I plan on doing induction anyway. What do you think. Thanks again - Tara

I am still here ladies - Mrs. I - it's me. I have been so bad about posting, I apologize. I have been sick for weeks with a virus and it's all I can do to take care of my son.. I am finally getting better so I am playing catch up on the computer.

Well, Monday is the big day! I get my csection at almost 39 weeks. Baby Ellyanna hasn't dropped so going early isn't going to happen as I had hoped. We are having her at noon. I am very excited. I am so big and miserable, I can't wait to start losing weight again.

Mrs. I how are you doing>

Here are more pics than you can imagine! Everything went well and I am going home today. I hope you enjoy the pics and slideshow. "Ellyanna Slideshow" is the best place to start viewing, then move towards today on the main page to get later shots and notes from today.

Hope all is well.
