New Mommy Thread ~May 2007~
Geez another month gone, where does the time go. I read yesterday that if a mom got paid our salary would be $135,000 according to salary.com, I wish. Today I got paid in semi-solid poop for the first time in a week and she finally slept till her normal time of 8
. The things that get us moms excited. Hazelsmrf dont worry about the weight we dont care, we are all struggling. It is hard to take care of yourself and a baby. We missed you Monday it is back to the gym. My husband swears she got the virus at the childwatch, he is probably right, and he wants her to be completely well before I take her back there. He also asked if they would mind if I dropped off a bottle of that clorox anywhere sanitizing spray. He is a little over protective sometimes. Though it isnt a bad idea. I hope Jessica's mom is doing ok. My goal for this month is 10 lbs, I would like 15 but I dont want to get my hopes up.

Can't believe it's May... I have exactly 3 weeks left until I go back to work. I think I"m ready.
I'm glad to hear Alyssa is feeling better. Poor thing. The clorox spray is an excellent idea... Hazel~ WE MISSED YOU!!! And you just gotta jump back in there and do lc. You know you'll FEEL better... physically and mentally about yourself. If you don't take care of you, then how can you take care of precious little Sarah? Which by the way, your scrapbook is adorable!!! She's a doll!Farasha~ thanks for the input. I did not get one that is adjustable though. I didn't really want one that had that long tail thing. I thought it looked stupid. The one I did get is stretchy though. I was just thinkning that since he probably wont walk until he's 1 1/2- 2yrs old I would use something like this more for running in & out of stores... (you know since it's frowned upon to leave em in the car... lol) Actually I think it's illegal here in OKlahoma. Every summer, without fail, there is some IDIOT who leaves their child in the car in the 102 degree heat. (and of course the child dies) EVERY SUMMER!!! What's wrong with people???? So what kind of toys are your kids favs right now? Ty is just not interested in toys yet. He'll look at them, but only briefly. So play time is limited, I just talk to him and make faces and laugh at him. I struggle for "activity" in the E.A.S.Y. Any suggestions?

Alyssa is a little bit of a pain when it comes to toys but she seems to like toys that crinkle right now. So I bought her this soft book that crinkles that of course she can put in the mouth because that is where everything winds up anyway. Does Ty have a playmat? They have so many to choose from though it is hard to pick one but maybe he will like the colors and music of it.

Sarah's favorite toy right now is Anna Banana (one of the Tiny Love toys). She loves her crinkly peels, and she also loves the crinkly leaves on her tiny love play mat. She's just starting to want to wave stuff around (and usually succeeds in bonking herself in the head with it and then crying). But when she was younger... yeah not much interest in toys. Things to look at, things with mirrors, but not anything she'd actually PLAY with you know? Activity time with E.A.S.Y. for us wasn't much at first. Maybe some time in the swing? Just reading him a book, or talking to him... does not take much to entertain a baby at that age. Keep showing him new things he hasn't seen before... It's amazing how intently they can stare at say, an apple, when they haven't seen one before. And well, this is pretty bad, but I let her watch tv. I mean she doesn't really WATCH it, but she likes the little voices on Dora the explorer and Diego. She doesn't understand what's going on but she likes staring at the pretty colors, you know? Please don't kick me out of the mommy group!
Ummm oh yeah and another thing she absolutely LOVES is her Tiny Love (notice a trend? I LOVE their stuff!) DVD MagIQ. I bought the lamb one and the 3-12 month DVD and she gets SO EXCITED when I put it on. The stuffed animal interacts with the television so they sing songs on tv and her stuffed animal sings along, it's so sweet. Well worth every penny we spent on it (it's pretty pricey!) Hey, 30 minutes of SWEET SWEET FREE TIME when I put that DVD on... she stays content for the whole thing and I can finally manage to get some stuff done!@

Krisiee - What is that? Is it a daycare at the gym? I swear our childcare at my gym is filthy. I don't believe that they clean the stuff right at all. DH got a rash using the gym equipment.
Kaiser - I have two of those little playmat things, that rattles and little things hang off of it over his head. He will look at it and sort of bat it with his hands. Also, he likes to watch tv. We have a humongous tv, so I think he can see it pretty good. I tivo some sesame street. He seems to get excited when Elmo comes on. He also likes to look at the mobile that is on his swing. I have a sling. I got a mei tai. I bought it from this girl who makes them to fit you, which I needed, because since I am big, I know a regular one wouldn't fit me. However, I don't know how to use it right, yet.

Yeah it is the Y daycare, it is very clean and they keep the infants in a different room that the older kids but who knows babies put everything in the mouth.
Oh dont feel bad about tv, Alyssa loves it. She loves elmo's world on sesame street and anything that has singing. She also loves baby einstein dvds. I like anything that amuses her. Lately she loves to go outside in our garden and sit with me, we just sit out there. She likes to listen to the birds and watch them fly. It is so peaceful out there. We have a swing attached to a tree she just loves when her daddy takes her on it, she laughs and laughs. |

Mia doesn't have much interest in watching tv yet. She does however, like to sit on my or Dh's bellies and stare back at us. She seems extremely fascinated by our faces. Of course that might be because we're always making faces at her.

Yahoo, I finally get to move to the new mommy thread. Well, a 2nd time new mommy anyway
Here's my story... Well, he's here. And in dramatic fashion no less. Okay, so on the 24th I was 4 cm dialated, 90% effaced, and he was at 0/+1. And my contractions were just really sporadic. Like a few a day but none really together. On Saturday morning, the 28th, my 3 year old woke me up at 2:30 am because he couldn't sleep. I took him back to bed and laid down with him and wouldn't you know at 2:47 am my water broke. I went in woke up my husband and we got ready to go. We called the doc and she said come in ASAP because my contractions would get uncomfortable since my water broke. My SIL arrived a little after 3 am to stay with my son and we left. So we are driving down our driveway at 3:10 am. Now, we have a 45 minute drive to the hospital and I started getting contractions on the way. They started about 8 minutes apart and quickly got closer. So we arrive at the hospital and my contractions were very painful. I couldn't sit in the wheelchair because it hurt. So I walked to the elevator. We get up to the L&D floor and I had a really bad contraction so I kneeled down on the floor waiting for the people ahead of me to get checked in. When I started to check in I just stopped and said he's coming now...I felt a burning pain and just knew. So they literally jumped into action, threw me in a wheelchair, raced me to a room. I arrived in the room, laid down and they had to undress me because I couldn't due to the contractions. And then she said bear down because he was crowning. And with one push he arrived More like shot out all in one push. So like 2 minutes after we got to the labor room But he's healthy. He was 6 lbs, 7 oz and 19 3/4 inches long. A little skinny fellow And I survived I had a little tearing, but nothing too bad. All the nurses kept saying that's the way to do it. Less than an hour of true pain and then a baby. And that's my story. Hope it doesn't frighten anyone because it was so quick. I'll try to get some pics up in a day or 2. In the meantime I think you can see his first photo at the following link: http://www.growingfamily.com/webnurs...LID=2833241843 I also posted a few pictures on the pregnant or TTC thread for April. I'll be on to chat regularly in a few days. Just getting back into the groove of being home. Niccole |

I have a question, sorry if it's TMI, but I havn't gotten my period yet. It's been two months since I've given birth to Mia. At my postpartum exam the dr. said he has no way of determining when I will get my period. I thought that was odd.
Kinda feel weird about it.... |

Lucky, didn't you just stop breastfeeding? Many people do not have a period while breastfeeding. I didn't even barely have much of one after having the baby. I just started birth controls pills and spotted a few times, but haven't had a regular period and I should have just had one.
Give it time, your hormones are all wacky. Unless you have had unprotected sex. |

Congrats Nicole!!! I can't wait to see pics!! The link didn't work for me...
I busted out the play mat again and he does enjoy it. He just flails his arms and legs around and bats at the hangy down things. I'm glad you guys reminded me of it. Oh, Lucky~ I just got finished w/ TOM. This was my first "real" one I think. I may have had one about 3 weeks ago, but it was hard to tell, b/c I had stopped bleeding from birth for a day and then started again, so I don't know. I would expect it in the next couple of weeks. In the mean time... no unprotected sex unless you want Mia to have a brother or sister... Last edited by kaisergirl : 05-02-2007 at 04:14 PM. |

haha no unprotected sex here. Actually no sex at all since Mia's been sleeping in my bed and DH has been sleeping in the living room. She wakes up during the night and this is the only way to guarantee a full night's rest for him.

It will come back! You just sort of have to plan it. We have to sneak it during DS's naps. Are you going to get on the pill or anything?

hey girlies
I am back from my mothers and she is feeling better! I think she has stress induced chronic fatigue syndrome but could also be her silicone implants breaking down after 20 yrs. So, we are taking her to get a mammogram tomorrow. Anyways, thanks for all the well wishes. It is hard when your parents get older and start to show their age. I feel silly saying that when I am only 25 and my mom is 48 and my dad is 55. But my step dad died 3 yrs ag at the age of 48 and was never sick a day in his life. Died of pulmonary fibrosis and they diagnosed him about 2 weeks before he passed. So, I get really freaked out when my family is sick. On a lighter note, it is a new month and I vow to be lighter by the end of it. We have such a busy summer with vacations, family reunions, concerts and just plain stuff to do, I need to be looking good... so here is to 20 lbs this month! Can I do it, I sure hope so!!!

Speak of the devil, TOM arrived last night.
Chrystee - my gyn prescribed pills for me. I have to find it to get the name. It's some european brand. Jessica - glad you're back and your mom is doing better. I understand how you feel about your parents. My dad recent had heart trouble and I was so worried for him. And yes, welcome back to low carbing and getting the baby weight off!! Mia and I went to the US embassy today to pick up her US passport. I didn't bring the stroller because I took a taxi there, instead I had her in this babydoll brand carrier thing where the baby straps onto your chest. I didn't think we'd be there for too long. Turns out not only did I have to wait for over an hour, I had to do it standing up with a baby strapped on. Oh, and I was in heels. It was horrible!! But it's worth it. Now Mia and I can go back and visit philly yay!!

Jessica glad your mom is doing ok and I am glad you are back.
I cant even think of having another one right now. Sometimes I think I would maybe when she is 2 but then to have to go through this all over again . Alyssa is pretty easy going but some days it is so freaking hard that I am constantly watching the clock waiting for her naptimes and the oh so wonderful bedtime . Thank goodness there are not too many of those days. Also I dont want to lose all the weight just to regain it, call me selfish. |
