progesterone/testosterone cream...newbie needs help
Was wondering if someone could tell me if they have experience using a prog/test cream and how long does it take to feel the effects?..Can it cause mood swings, being overly emotional...etc? I mainly want to know if and when I would feel the effects of increased libido...I had a 25mg shot of Testosterone Enanthate with no effect and MD doesn't want me to take another shot until I see how this cream will work...(about 5 weeks)...i'm tired of waiting...does anyone have any input into this...thanks...erink

Erink, are those the only symptoms that you are experiencing? Lack of libido and mood swings are associated with menopause and with thyroid disease. There's a list of thyroid symptoms on the web site thyroid.about.com. You might check it out and see if any of the others match up. If your thyroid is out of whack, it will rob your reproductive system hormones and convert them to thyroid hormones to help itself out.
I found that taking progesterone & pregnenelone cream--low dose, alleviated my symptoms. When I stopped taking it, the symptoms came back. Turns out, my thyroid is out of whack. Now that I take thyroid meds, the libido is back. ![]() Testosterone will definitely cause mood swings--especially snaps of temper if you get too testosterone dominant. If you are low in estrogen, you'll get moody, down, depressed and weepy. If your tyroid is robbing progesterone, then your estrogen and testosterone can become unbalanced. Are you taking natural hormone supplements or synthetics? Last edited by livin' thin : 05-01-2007 at 09:18 PM. |

I started perimenopause and went hypothyroid at 42 right after my last child was born. I am 47 now. So needless to say weight gain and attempting to lose weight has been frustrating. I started taking synthroid which made the fatique and hair loss much better and i stopped gaining as fast as i was, but the dry skin and Libido problems stayed. Then i started using a natural progesterone cream and it has taken care of those two problems for the most. but the weight stayed the same no matter what.. i just recently started lc and it seems to be the only way i can lose any weight. I really believe it has been a mixture of those three things which has helped me get back on track with feeling normal. I talked with my doctor about starting the natural progesterone cream before starting it and he was behind me all the way.. i purchased my cream at a local Health food store, but Gnc sells several brands. I think i payed around 28.00 for a three month supply and could feel the effects in about a week but everyone is different about how long it takes for it to start helping..By the way.. it really helps with perimenopause anxiety and mood swings or has for me...

I just have to make some sort of note about this ...... using a hormone cream of any kind can cause problems for children. Traces of hormones can be left on your hands etc. and transfered to food and through touch... and this is even after washing. It sorta seeps through your body.
