UTI

Does anyone have any miracle cures for the dreaded UTI?
I thought that when I cut out sugar from my diet that I would have less of a problem - but no such luck

I know about the cranberry juice and pills- is ther anything else that works for you?

D-mannose (sp.?) It's a sugar (4 carbs / serving) that causes bacteria in your bladder to "jump" off the lining of the bladder and be flushed out. It can be used as a preventive or cure. Google it - there's lots of info.

I had done some internet research on that but I was nervous about trying it.
I guess I'll get some to have on hand for next time

I can not have soda to drink ..... not at all. If I do, I get a UTI within the same day.

I actually have had one UTI in my life and I never knew I had it until I passed out from the pain in my kidneys. One day at clinical in nursing school...I fell out b/c I was in so much pain. I had never experienced anything before that day. No burning, no frequency, nothing. It was just one day WHAM. I was put on meds...I believe a sulfer based drug, to get rid of it. It had traveled into my kidneys and it was the worst thing I have ever experienced in my life. I would recommend going to the dr and getting something b/c you never know how bad it could get.

I do not know about OTC remedies or anything like that for UTIs...I know cranberry helps prevent them as does lotssss of water, but that's all I know in that department.

If you get them frequently, I ould recommend looking into Candida. It's a yeast overgrowth in your body and when you cut out sugars, which feed them, they can die off.. but if you introduce something to your body..such as cheese, mushrooms, rgular vinegar...it can flair up again and you start all over again. I only know this b/c I've dealt w/ it before myself.

Although treating Candida would help your chances of it happening again, it won't get rid of the infection you have. I would go to the doctor to be safe

I hope this helps!!!
