Women who get the depo provera shot...

Do you gain weight after each shot? 3 months ago I gained right after I had the shot but then lost the weight. Had another shot on Friday and now I'm up 2 lbs. I am not worried about losing the weight, because I know I will. I was just wondering if you continue to gain with each shot???

I don't use it, but here's what I found online:

"Depo-Provera may cause fluid retention, so if you have conditions that may be worsened by fluid retention, such as epilepsy, migraine headaches, asthma, heart disease, or kidney disease, make sure the doctor is aware of it.

Depo-Provera tends to alter levels of blood sugar, so diabetic women need to be carefully observed by their doctors when taking Depo-Provera.

If you develop jaundice (a yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes caused by liver disease), you probably should not receive Depo-Provera again.

Most women gain weight while they are using Depo-Provera. "

A friend of mine gained 30 pounds in three months from the shot. Enough to scare me away forever!

I had one shot after I had my daughter and wasn't able to lose one pound no matter what I did for a whole year!

I'd stay FAR away from Depo shots.

I have no problems with the deppo shot. I love love love it. My weight my fluctuate, but I have never noticed it being worse after a shot. Best yet, I never get my period, makes camping so much easier. Have I mentioned I love it???

this happened to me in 1999.... 30 lbs in 3 months... went off it.. gave birth to my daughter in 2001... and went back on it jan of 2002... that time only gained ten lbs... but i was conscious of the weight gain then so did more to prohibit the excess. still gained tho!
