Stupid Question - PCOS
Girls,
I am going to the doctor next week but in the meantime I am driving myself crazy.... Here's the thing, I think I have PCOS but I don't have all the symptoms. My symptoms include: - Facial hair - weight in midsection (looks bloated) Since losing weight, my periods are completely regular....like clockwork. If I get my periods regularly, would I have trouble getting pregnant? |

Let's just start with...it's not a stupid question!
It's great to hear that you've lost weight and your cycles are regular again. It certainly will help the cause, but (unfortunately) it doesn't always mean you're ovulating. It's sounds like your body is trying to take care of itself, and hopefully, ovulation is happening during your cycles. Keep doing what you're doing to keep the weight down and off. Mary |

Thank you for the response!
Is there a way to know if I am actually ovulating? |

If you are having periods, you should be ovulating.
A great book to read is called "Taking Control of Your Fertility". Also check out soulcysters.com |

The easiest way to know if you are ovulating is to chart using your temps and cervical fluid. The book that Chrystee recommended is a great place to start and explains all about charting. It is possible to have periods, even regular ones, without ovulation. Charting will also clue you in to other problems that *may* exist and might keep you from getting PG.
Are you currently TTC? Whether you are or not, you're welcome to come hang out at the TTC board. We just had a BFP, so there's lots of good baby dust over there ![]()

Jenkat is right...you can have anovulatory periods. Temping is the easiest way to learn your schedule and know if/when you are O'ing. Taking Charge of your Fertility is one of the best books ever written and I think EVERY woman should read it and apply it! I temp every morning, so I pretty much know my schedule (however, I am also on Met, which has also helped to regulate me). When DH is around, I also have a high tech fertility monitor, however, it is too expensive to use when we can't TTC. The cheapest, easiest way to know if you are ovulating is the good old basal thermometer.
SoulCysters is an awesome site if you are diagnosed PCOS. Also TCOYF is a good site if you are temping (it also has a section on TTC with PCOS.) I have to say, however, that just because your periods may have become regular is still no guarantee you can concieve without medical intervention. If you don't conceive after 6 months of timed trying, I would go talk to a RE.
