New Mommy Thread ~February 2007~
So some of you are about to become mothers, an exciting and nervous time. Just know that everything is learned through trial and error and asking others what they did. I know I have a long road ahead of me, my husband thinks I am crazy because I am already thinking of another one. I must be crazy.

Great advice Krisiee. I'm glad my mom will be arriving this month to help with the baby. I really don't think DH and I would know what to do.
And looking at your baby's pic makes me want to hold mine so bad now! |

Kaiser- Yep Cervadil is it! I thought so too on the 12 hours.., but I think he's just in a rush anyways. He wanted to do it today, but couldn't get me in. Earliest was Monday, which works better for us too. He wanted to just do a c-section, but he said he can't schedule me since I didn't have one previously and there's no confirmation of preeclampsia. He's just going by his huntch still. The blood tests came out ok, my protein is still ok, but I just have the continued headaches and swelling... I assume the Cervadil is just to show that he tried I guess before c-section was started. Sounds kinda odd now that I type it down, in the room he seemed to make sense to me. Do you think it's odd?

Krisiee- your not crazy.
I think about it now... I know I want them at least 2 years apart though. DH wants a boy really bad. I'm sure he's not afraid of round 2 for trying for the boy he wants...Oh and I love that picture of her. What a cutie! ![]() Last edited by GABEHO : 02-01-2007 at 06:28 PM. |

Did he tell you to lay around on your sides? That is what I have to do. I do not want a c-section. |

I just want all your babies to arrive healthy, it was so sad that we all had to stay in the hospital so long. Gabeho make sure you prepare yourself for a c-section. If I would have know I would have read more about it. I remember being told at the last minute that I had to have an er c-section, the first thing I did was throw up. They prep you so quickly you dont really even know what is going on but they all talk to you the whole time which is nice. By the way thank you for thinking she is a cutie. Dont forget girls to get a boppy, best invention ever. I still use mine at every feeding, Alyssa loves hers. In the picture that is her laying on it.

When you feel the headache lay down on your left side for awhile. This is while I am on bedrest, a little high bp, no protein in urine or blood yet.
My doc hasn't scheduled me for an induction, but I dont really want one either. |

I also agree with Krisiee, get a boppy! Especially if you are planning to breastfeed.

K, I was just going over everything I have for Cassie, there's just a few things that is on the "suggested" list that I hadn't got yet and one of them is the baby monitor. What do you guys think, is it a requirement? Did you get one, or going to get one, or use one now for your first baby? Her crib is in a off section in our room, it's called a "sitting room", it's like a bedroom itself. So she's like 20 feet from my bed, but I don't know if I'll leave her in there when she's sleeping or bring her with me from room to room? Maybe it's a good idea to wait till she's here to see if i'm in need for it?

I didnt buy one and I am sort of glad. At first she was sleeping in our room now she is moved to her own room which is right across from our room. The bedrooms are upstairs but we dont have a huge house. I can always hear her though she does have a very big mouth. Even at night though both of us wake up at the smallest lil peep she makes, it is just instilled in you I think. I would wait and see how the whole thing goes. To us 50-60 bucks was a big expense in the middle of moving cross country when she was with us all the time anyway.

I did register for a monitor, but his room is all the way across the house from ours. And I'll figure I'll need it if he's napping and I'm cleaning or doing something in another room during the day.

No, I didn't get a monitor either. Our house is one floor, and I sleep in the baby's room anyway (Dh is a monster snorer).
Yep, get a swing or bouncy chair and get a first aid kit. |

A swing is a must, Alyssa had colic without that thing we would have pulled our hair out. The swing we got was called Graco® Swing n' Bounce Swing in Heirloom, it is a swing and the seat comes off to be a bouncer too. My sister had me all worried about her never taking naps in her crib but she has been doing things her own way in her own time. The past few days I have put her down for her naps in her crib instead of using the swing and she hasnt cried or anything. What I am worried about though, because she is a creature of habit once she gets used to something, is when I goto my dad's on wednesday that she wont want to sleep in the pack n play. She loves her mattress in her crib and we all know the pack n play just isnt as soft. I am sure she will throw an Alyssa fit, thats what we call them now.

We didn't use a monitor either. Our house is pretty small and plus her crib is in our bedroom.
Are you going crazy with anticipation? I remember I was the last few days. ![]() |

Oh yes, crazy, impatient, excited... ahhhh, I can't wait! I'm still in disbelief that its going to happen on MONDAY! I cleaned our bathroom yesterday and did a load of laundry, but that's about it. No energy burst here. I wish tho, cause my hosue is bad. My back aches if i'm cleaning too long. Oh and I gave my little dog a bath. Poor thing smelled bad!

I waited and waited for the nesting part because we were moving, never happened to me I was very disappointed. I was in so much pain though I wanted her out. Today I bought her a jumpy thing that you put in the doorway. I have to wait until tomorrow to try it out because I got home after her bedtime. I was actually able to have alone time tonight and go out with out her or hubby, I needed it bad.

Oh geez it is tomorrow
I get my days all mixed up now. I am so excited for you. Just remember everything you will be feeling is normal, there will be many different feelings. Also in the beginning babies have their days and nights mixed up it is the craziest thing in the world and you feel like OMG this is never going to end but they eventually get it right. The best feeling is the first time you look at her and think I can never love something this much ever again, it is an overwhelming feeling of love. At least it was for me being a first time mom and all. Good luck and we will all be here when you get back. |

I did a lot today. I actually have been having really small bursts, but I try to really take it easy, since I am on bedrest. My kitchen is so nice and clean.. If I can just get my lr/dr picked up and nice and shiny I will be happy.
The last thing I need to do is clean his room and I would like to steam clean the carpets.. |

I have a question for you new mommies. Are your babies drinking water? I always thought that aside from milk, my baby would be ddrinking water from a baby bottle. But my prentatal class teacher told us that she doesn't need to drink anything aside from breast milk. My mom got all upset when she heard this, she insists that the baby will be dehydrated otherwise.
i'm confused! |
