Happy New year!!!

We were out laaaaaaaate last night. Of course I'm the built in designated driver... we went out of town to spend it w/ friends but drove back last night.

I did have about 1/4 glass of champange at midnight. It was good, I miss my wine... waaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!

Today we're having pork chops and zuccinni, and I'm making my DH eat 2 black eyed peas. He hates them but I like them. More high carb than normal but oh well... I'm up today from all the deli meat and cheese I ate last night. They even had a chocolate fondue fountain, w/ marshmallow, pound cake and bananas that I DID NOT eat. The chocolate smelled heavenly though...

Have a good new year's!! I'm taking down the tree and enjoying the day off. Might do some shopping too...

Kaisergirl - you are so much more disciplined than I have been. I pigged out on chocolates until.. well today! DH got me sparkling apple cider that's packaged like champagne, it even makes that pop sound when you open it, but i'd still rather have the real thing.

I did a lot better today though, made myself a tuna salad for lunch, did my full t-tapp workout, had a salmon and steak dinner with hubby along with a nice big salad.

Can you girls believe we're almost there? I consider making it past 30 weeks to be the home stretch. I can say that in a few weeks, i'm having a baby!!!

I am getting excited for you girls. I cant believe Alyssa will be 3 months on the 14th. She is finally sleeping 8 hours straight, from 8 till 4 am, takes a bottle and goes right back to sleep until 8 am. Today is the first day I have put her down in her crib for a nap instead of her swing, so far so good. Her colic is getting better so I figured I could try to have her take naps in her crib now. Just remember no matter how hard it is it will become easier, I still have to keep telling myself that when she is in an episode.

Nurseries.. Let's talk about nurseries..
Has anyone decorated their nursery yet? I just have the bedding, which is sage green/khaki and has dragonflies on it.

I am trying to figure out what I want to paint, what colors, etc..

We're hoping to be moving to London in a few months and there is no nursery in our one bedroom apt.

We did purchase a moses basket, pink lining and everything. We're going for very bare essentials theme I guess. Our next big purchase would be a good solid stroller. Do you ladies have any recommendations? DH is obcessed with getting one that's three wheels because it's aerodynamic (such a man), and he wants it to be solid sturdy.

Lychee and all,

Sorry to be coming out of the blue like this. I'm due in another week and moved from Cambridge (england) to Singapore in September.

.... about pushchairs.... If you truly are moving to England, then forget the idea of getting a 3-wheeled pushchair. You will find it a problem to get through most shop doors or to travel by coach anywhere. But, having said that.... there are not many options for good pushchairs in the UK either. Of course, there are expensive ones... but they tend to be quite rigid in comparison to the ones that I used from the US.

This is my fourth child and I will more problems with public transport here in Singapore. The buses are not really pushchair friendly, even if they have a space for them to sit. The problem is that the entrance to the bus 1. usually has steps and/or 2. has a metal bar separating the entrance, making it difficult to carry a baby onto a bus *in* a pushchair.

With the first child, my mother bought a pushchair with car seat which was used by us for the first three kids (Evenflo). But, with this baby I plan to only buy an umbrella-style stroller to use after he/she turns 6 months. I am a sling-wearing mother (though in the humidity of Singapore it might get more complicated!)

Also, Lychee I'm surprised that you liked the baby goods in England. I was always so bored with the variety because the only place to shop was Mothercare. Only recently have grocery stores like Tesco and Asda started introducing cheaper baby clothes to add some variety.

Farasha - i live in luxembourg where the whole country has only two maternity stores. You bet I liked shopping in england!!! I remember going to Tesco on our last day of vacation and just loving the sheer size of the store! I'm from LA orginally but have been living in Luxembourg for six months and am used to small small stores for EVERYTHING. I can't wait to move to London.

Are you excitted about having this baby? In a week!!!

I haven't posted in a while - busy w/work after having a week off, and getting prepared to start college next week.........online courses, but it will still be a lot of getting used to.

17 1/2 weeks for me right now.........a LOT more days than all of you!

Weird thing happened last night. I woke up and was laying on my back. All of a sudden I felt a pinch in the top of my butt and my left thigh started going numb and hurt. WEIRD! My stomach has been on and off crampy/stretchy too. I'm just assuming the baby is growing a bunch this week

My classes start next monday.
Try sleeping on your sides now.. you are getting far enough you need to be careful about back sleeping. try putting a pillow behind you so you dont roll on your back.

Mine too - what degree are you going towards? I'm going for my Bachelor's in Business Administration. Just starting, so it will take a while since I can't go full-time while working.

I actually had someone tell me that I'm selfish for going to school while pregnant, and while knowing I'll have to continue going after the baby is born

I'm waiting to see if my parents got me the body pillow that I asked for for Christmas....I'll find out Sunday. I might ask Mom earlier so I know if I need to buy one Saturday while shopping. I used one on our trip and I loved it.

What did it feel like when you 1st felt the baby (before it kicked)? Once in a while I feel like a tingling/popping/electricity feeling in my stomach, and then it feels like I need to itch it. Would that be it, or something else????

Same! Bach in BA, with a concentration in acquisition and contracts management.

How is that selfish by bettering yourself? Good lord! I finish in May, and will then start my masters next Jan 08. Its all online, so it really isn't that bad to me.

Yea, that is probably the baby floating around. I first felt it very early so I hear for a first time mommy.. like around 14/15 weeks.. felt like a kitten inside kneading real gently. or popcorn popping.

I was wondering if anyone had started...

Ours is painted. I've bought the bedding. I ordered the furniture about 8 weeks ago and am waiting on that. They told me it could take up to 12 weeks so, it should be here in the next month. Once that comes in I'll be able to finish decorating. The bedding I bought came w/ curtains but I hate them and found some uphostery fabric that matches and is really cool, so my project for January is to make the window treatments and bedskirt to match. I also bought a 3 ft cast-iron sillouette of a baseball player to hang on the wall, but no other wall decor yet. I'm not into cartoon stuf, so decor will be masculine chic.. if that's a description lol.

My 3D ultrasound is tomorrow!!! I'm so excited!! One more look at him before he gets here...

paula~ I started feeling movement around week 15 too. It was just every few days, I would feel "something" like a vibration stretching kind of feeling. It soon got very obvious what it was and felt like rolling and sommersaults. Now it's full blown kicks. I bet you're starting to feel movement!!

Yes, I admit, I had a glass of wine on my birthday, (dec, 30) and then on New Years I had about 3 sips of champagne. I was driving so I didn't want any more than that just in case I got pulled over. That would have looked REALLy bad! I miss wine baddddddddddddddddd!! Jeez, you'd think I was an alcoholic...

krissee~ Glad you & baby are getting adjusted. I'm worried about the transition. Are you going back to work soon?

Well, girls, have a good one. I'm off to change into pajamas and lounge in my chair!

Yes, I'm eager to have the baby, but also not so excited about the birthing situation here. My last birth was the ideal one because I had him at home with only my husband attending (and homebirth is so great in England!). But, here homebirth is only possible if you choose a particular male doctor.... and I prefer to have a female.

The hospital is about 5 minutes up the road by taxi from my house, so I plan to wait around at home until closer to the end. But, the thing is that with all three of my other children, labor has lasted exactly 4 hours from start to finish. I keep hoping it will be the same case this time.

This time along I've had many Braxton-Hicks contractions which don't go by the label of "painless" so to speak. They are definitely tightenings, but the discomfort is more than what I remember early contractions at the beginning of labor being.

In my previous births, the pattern has usually been 1. easy contractions for 3 hours that feel like menstrual cramps (only if I'm allowed to move around freely... if I lie down or am made to sit in a hospital bed, they hurt!) 2. vomiting as I enter transition 3. the heavy contractions come for about 20 minutes... then 2-3 pushes and babe is born.

I was going to go back to work and maybe if we lived in San Diego I might have gone back by now but we have decided that for now I am not. I am able to get the same type of job I had in San Diego working for the navy, which I loved, but I would have been more comfortable I think putting her in daycare if we stayed in San Diego because my friends had their children in the daycare. Maybe when she is a little older but I just dont want her being put in a corner somewhere and not being taken care of. Being a full time mom though is way hard but I cherish it because it wont last forever.

The hospital I'm planning on giving birth at is about 25 minutes from home, and about 40 minutes from work. I'm hoping to work up until I deliver. I would love to be a SAHM, but it just won't work for our situation. I get 6 weeks unpaid leave a work, and will have about 3 weeks vacation give or take to use. Work said I can come in part days during those 6 weeks if I want and bring the baby with - I kinda want to do that so I stay in the loop w/stuff at work, and to get out.

We really hoping that when I finish my degree that work will promote me and give me a nice raise. If they do there's a good possibility that my DH will be a stay at home dad. He wants to do that sooooo badly, and he's really good w/kids (well, others kids that is). But - we'll see!

kaisergirl - I miss wine too......I've been drinking non-alcoholic wine. It tastes pretty good to me, and like I told DH I can pretend!

What do you do for a living? Your office sound soooo nice and accomodating!!

I'm starting school soon too actually. I'm just taking a French class down the street. Living in Luxembourg it's really difficult to go out without speaking a word of French. DH signed me up, and has been telling me how it's a great chance to meet new friends, I hope he's right.

I had my tooth pulled today! Actually it's the remaining of a tooth that has fallen out some time ago. It's not noticeable unless I smile big becuase it's in the corner of my mouth. Any way, eating hard boiled eggs this morning made me realize that the remaining tooth is just in way too much pain to ignore. I managed to get an emergency appt and told the dentist I'm seven months pregnant, got a local anethesia, and bam that sucker was pulled out.

Overall it's not such a bad experience. She made an appt for me to go back there in two week for a thorough cleaning though, that won't be fun at all!

Hope you ladies are doing well!

I'm the accounting administrator for a forensic engineering company. I'm going to school for my Bachelor's in Business Administration so I might get the Business Manager position someday.

But - we're a really small business - we have 3 offices, but this one only has about 5 people working in it, and the whole company maybe has 15-20 people total. Very laid back atmosphere.
