Menopause Weight Gain
Hello,
I have not been around for a while but I am not a new comer. I have lost over a 100 pounds on Atkins almost 4 years ago I started and have kept it off until menopause. I started menopause last year went 8 months no period then had one. Now its been 4 months no period my other symptoms are very mild not real issues with hot flashs or night sweats I do get warmer at night then I used to but do not wake up soaking wet like I have read about. Anyway also I have read lots on this and have tried a few new diets out there for it. Not working I have gained 15 pounds in the last 2 months and yes it was my fault ate too much on a couple of vacations and drank too much but normally when I do this if I go back on strict atkins and or the meat and egg fast really works to get rid of the weight fast that has always worked in the past that is now nothing has worked and I mean nothing. Been useing the progestrone cream for several months now even before the weight gain and did the one day detox diet by ann louise that did not work at all for me even did all the supplements to go with it just by the book and nothing. Been trying the meat and egg fast nothing, tried drinking low carb shakes for 3 days nothing, then I would get discouraged and benge and drink so it just kept getting worse and worse. So my question is: Is there any supplements or product that will help me? I know how to diet believe me diet is not working right now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, |

HI,
I was glad to see your post as I am going thru the same thing right now. The weight is just sticking like glue to me, I missed my cycle this month for the first time,though I have been having the hot flashes and other things, but not to any grand extreme. I have just started taking acetyl l carnitine and coQ10 to see if that will do anything, I did quit aspertame ahile back and dropped an immediate 12 lbs that was just bouncing up and down, it has stayed off, but nothing since then. I thought I was finally going to stop dropping with these two supplements, but I am on my 3rd bottle of the alc and nothing yet. uggghh, so frustrating, because I was like you before too, I know how to lose weight and I have never had this kind of problem . I have been doing Atkins 72 this my second week now and I feel so much better and my cloths are starting to fit better I can feel the bloat and water going down. I have not weighed yet because I know myself if the scale does not reflect how I feel it will depress me and then I may benge and or drink. So I am sticking with it and just staying off the scale. The main thing is I feel so much better and have been sleeping better also. Next week I will try adding more veggies back slowly. I also looked at more supplements but you know when I first started atkins I spent so much money on supplements and I did not see or feel any difference, so I take a good multi like centrum and calcium, mag, potasium. And I take 500 mg of Magnisium at night before bed. If diet and exercise can help I would rather do that first and Atkins 72 is really helping so far. HI Maria,
I am doing Atkins or at least a version of low carb right now also, and at first I lost great, and then I stalled and cheated a little and lost great again, and now I am just in limbo, so I am thinking about trying the kimmer meat and egg thing and see if maybe I am just eating too many carbs, although the keto stix say I am staying in ketosis, I just can't lose this last 20 lbs. I won't quit though, I have been lifting weights, and I am running 3 days a week, I think I am going to have to start doing aerobics every morning and see how that affects things, I just can't deal with a stubborn body haha. I will pay attention to this board and see if we get any good advice. and I will keep in touch maybe something will work for one of us and the other can try it. thanks Betty |

The meat and egg fast will work for sure just eat lean meat and not so much fat, it maybe the fat that is registering on your keto sticks I have heard that before because if your in ketosis you are not hungry and can eat a lot less food. Thats what I am doing now with the Atkins 72. I am also not having the night sweats and my mood seems better. It will work drink lots of water and if your lifting weights some of that weight might be mucle which is a good thing right? What size are you? I am about 165 still in my 10's but they are tight and I refuse to buy a bigger size ever again. At 150 to 155 my 10's fit very lose and comfy. I am trying to get back to 150 before Thanksgiving. I guess for me its a lot to do with my mind set I worked to hard and for too long to lose over a 100 pounds I was a very tight 22 when I started and I just refuse to go back. Hang in there. I will have to get my mind set for the meat and eggs, weekends are very hard, so I think I will plan on it for all next week, starting monday. that way I have a chance to boil a million eggs, I should really see some results in 3 days I think, at least I seem to remember reading that. so I will let you know.

Hi girls, I feel your frustration!
Im in peri menopause.I lost 40 lbs on atkins and ive kept if off for a year.I was having very heavy abnormal bleeding so the doctor has me on a low dose bc pill.I still lost on the last pill she had me on, but my cycles were still irregular and heavy so she changed the dosage last Feb.Ive not lost a pound since!! Ive tried everything, meat and egg , atkins induction u name it.I want to thro the pills away so bad but cannot go back to the hemoraging and anemia again.Hah, frustrating for sure.Good luck to you guys as we keep plugging away at it LOL.![]() |

Just an up date, I am still struggling, I did the meat and egg fast for over a week and only lost 1 pound. I could not believe it and no I did not cheat I ate 2 hb eggs for breakfast, 4 oz of lean turkey or 4 oz of lean chicken twice a day and that was it. So needless to say I fell off the wagon real fast and are probably up five more pounds by now I just feel awful and don't know what to do. Sorry just needed to vent.

I bought the new SlimQuick for women only supplement I will let you know how it works. Keeping fingers crossed it will help.
