Nuva Ring
Hey! Has anybody tried or is currently using the NuvaRing birth control method? I'm planning on switching from the Depo Provera injection to the Nuvaring and I was just wondering what you all thought about the Nuvaring? Thanks!

I've been on NuvaRing for nearly a year, and I gotta say... I love it!
Before this, I was on the pill. I love the ring because there's no remembering to take a pill every day. I just mark on my calendar when to put one in, and when to take it out. It's every bit as effective as the pill. The great thing about it, is it's not noticeable AT ALL, and if it is for you, you can take it out for up to 3 hours! I experienced absolutely no side effects at all, and I have struggled for years with hormonal birth control because off all the nasty side effects. (I've had 'em all... extreme nausea, headaches, fatigue, cramping, tender breasts... not fun) Many other women I've spoken with have had the same experience of NO side effects! Obviously, everyone is different, and we're all going to respond to hormonal BC differently. I urge you to try it and find out how it best works with your body!

Thanks! Yeah my doctor was telling me that most women who have tried it rave about it! Of course it's not nearly as convenient as Depo Provera, but depo has some nasty side effects, including weight gain which definately happened to me.
Also question: did you find you were able to lose weight pretty easily while on Nuvaring? I've been pulling my hair out because it's next to impossible to lose weight while on Depo. |

I have had no problem losing weight whatsoever. I also didn't have that bit of water weight gain/retention that I had when I started a new BC pill.
I can't say enough good things about the ring! |

I have another question:
Can anybody actually feel the Nuvaring when it's inserted? I'm still a little nervous about putting that up inside me, it would seem like the whole process of insertion would be uncomfortable. |

I used the Nuvaring for 3 years (not using it now because we are TTC) and I LOVED it! Like others stated above I had no side effects with it. I used to take Ortho TriCyclen (not Lo, the original) and was a raving lunatic from the varying hormone levels.
To answer your question. I can't feel it and my DH also says that he cannot feel it either ![]() |

I had one for awhile. I couldn't feel it. Putting it in and taking it out was no problem. However, we would dislodge it frequently. He could also feel it when doing the deed. That did vary with postition. I also suspect that depends on the anatomy of all involved. It got to be that I would remove it for intercourse, and that was just kind of a pain. I use a Mirena IUD now and love it.
