older ladies........and getting the girls lifted!!!

I was just wondering how many of the "older ladies" have or are thinking about a breast lift after the weight is gone.

Now, I have never had children but have been large chested since 6th grade (was a C cup then). I admit, wearing a bra was not something I enjoyed, I would get home and take it off... so, well, the muscles and all have headed way south (they never were perky )....and the fact that hormones or lack of them are now having an effect on their stability (at 53 yrs old), seems like they got really, really, droopy overnight!!! I am really considering a lift after the weight is gone.... I realize it sounds awful vain, why should I care at my age...not posing nude....., but, it really bothers me, the older I get the worse they look. I realize there are MUCH WORSE THINGS IN LIFE THAN THIS ISSUE OF MINE, but still......
I was wondering if anyone else in my age group has done this or is thinking about it??? I dont really want implants....just a lift, you know the skin tightened. I am a D cup and realize I would lose some of that....but, I would be happy with a nice looking B (C if possible)....

Feed back is needed..........since I kinda feel foolish, but, still cant stop wishing ...... I am not a person that wants to be 20 again...well, maybe in my dreams but, shouldn't we want to be the best we can be?

I don't think I'm an older lady... but I had a BL (along with full tummy tuck) on 1/13/05. Before weight loss I was a 48DDD. After weight loss I was a 36D. I am now a 34-36C (could probably actually do a B). Large B, smaller C. I always had real long heavy ones, and after weight loss they were REALLY long and flat/empty.

Best thing I EVER could have done for myself, ever.

Oh yeah, I didn't have any implants. Just turned 34, have a 6.5 yr old son who I did nurse. And I say go for it.

I would love to have a BL......when at goal I am a 'small" D and I have to wear super duper 4 hook bras to get those babies up to anywhere close to where they should be. I am 41....my biggest concerns besides cost are 1) Potential for loss of sensation and 2) I don't want to lose much in size...maybe a full C and am afraid I'd need implants to fill myself out....

I can live with my other issues ie stomach and thighs but I cannot stand wearing these bras and if I don't have one on....oh my gosh that's another story altogether

Best of luck no matter what you decide...if you can afford it I say go for it!!

I guess I ask older ladies because society seems to think that as you age it should not matter that much........RIGHT

Could you tell what the recovery was like? Do they really take the nipple off and then sew it back in place How about feeling afterward (sensation)?????

I also think about this, mostly because I sag after breastfeeding. I'm not that 'big' to begin with though (36 C) so while I'd like to be less saggy, I do worry that I'd wind up with much smaller breasts.

I think the cost varies from areas of the country you live in........ I am thinking between 4,000 and 6,000.

It totally DOES matter, esp if it matters to you, which it does. Let me tell you, if you are only having a BL (and no tummy tuck), your recovery will be a piece of CAKE. I had my surg on a Friday. If all I had done was a BL, I would have gone back to work on Tuesday. I am NOT LYING. The BL part of the surgery was NOTHING. Zero pain, and whatever swelling I had didn't bother me. GO FOR IT. NO loss of sensation AT ALL. My areola was reduced drastically. I have 100% sensation. I cant remember if they took it off all the way and reattached.. but honestly at first it did LOOK that way. Me and DH really laughed about it cause they looked like bottle caps that were just sitting there. But believe me, it didn't stay that way. You can't tell it was reduced at all- no scar around the areola and it blends naturally with no 'bottle cap' look.

DO IT. I am serious. Very very easy recovery.

Recovery from the tummy tuck was a different story. But just the BL- EASY.

Yep, I'm 50 and as soon as I lose 50 more pounds, I'm going to get a tummy tuck and a breast lift, wich I hope will also reduce their size. I'm a DD now. Hope to be a c when done. You are never too old to feel good about yourself.!! Good luck...

Oh boy! I have been waiting for this topic. What is recovery from a tummy tuck like? I fantasize about having both done, though I would prob. need implants because I am sure I will have little nothings when I am through losing weight (36B now). I am also 50, and it is not for someone else to see, but who wants to see little (or big) flaps several x/day??

Glad to read this thread. I'd love to have a BL after getting to goal, but hubby says they cost around $10,000 (he's basing this on what a friend told him whose gf got it done). That just sounds awfully high to me. Maybe that much for implants, but just a lift?

I was a 36D and now after my weight loss I am a 36B - dropped two cup sizes. I am much smaller - but am flat where it should be "mounded" (if you know what I mean). I do know that Walmart carries these silicone implants that you can put in your bra first before putting on the bra. It will take you up one cup size and should make you more rounded on the top. I haven't tried them yet because I threw out all my old bras and bought "B"'s and don't want to go out and buy "C"'s just to see if they would work.

I've been big all my life and actually enjoy being two sizes smaller.

I am definately getting a reduction and lift after I am done having children. Like you I went instantly from flat to a C cup and they NEVER were perky. Stretch marks, hanging, the works. By 15 I was known as "Big Boobs", at that time I am sure I was a DD, but was fooling myself with a D.

Now, even when I lose the weight, I am a 36 DDD. Try and find a bra that size. Isn't easy. With out a bra they are nearly to my belly button. Good news is insurance will cover the cost if they are DD or larger because they cause back pain.

Question is, I don't know what size to go. I know I HATE my large breasts. But I am afraid I will feel flat at a C, and worried I will be too large at a D???

I say if it makes you feel better, then go for it!

My friend had hers done. She lost 65 lbs on Atkins and after nursing two babies said hers and I quote "looked like two gym socks with rocks in the toes" Hers are now the size and the feel of two cantalopes. She did not have a lift, she had implants to fill out the saggy area.

She has to sleep with a bra all the time. I don't want to do that.

Her surgery cost $4,500.00. Her dh was against it, so she got a part time job, saved the money and did it.

I think for me, I won't ever do it. But that's just me. I sag, really badly too. But I just don't care. I wear underwires and my guy likes them the way they are and it doesn't bother me so guess I'll just leave em alone.

But if it will make you feel better, and you can afford it, then go for it.

Man, this thread almost makes me want to cry.... I'm down about 45# with 20# to go. Going through a lot of emotions right now - including, a current b'friend who abhors the thought of cosmetic surgery, the fact that I'm at the final phase of being able to have children (maybe a couple of years left) and the fact that it's meaningless to consider before children. They look like bananas. So, until I can resolve the above issues, can't even really consider - unless I just jump and use the surgery as my goodbye to children voyage. Sorry, a bit of a pity party here.... you guys are great. I'm going to post and keep this thread bookmarked.

Well, at my most obese, my 'girls' were 40DD. At goal weight, they are 36B-C. Varies some depending on bra manufacturer. They are definitely not as perky as they were when I was 20. But then...gravity happens!
I have found that keeping the underlying muscles tight through exercise really helps in appearance. And no, I have NO PLANS for a breast lift. I've decided this whole 'instant gratification' thing (no to mention Youth Worship) is a conspiracy to part me from my money. Only my kids get to do that.

I was watching a show recently about how many older people are getting surgery done. And I to say GO FOR IT.

I am 42 - had a lift in June. Glad I did it. And I did it so I look good naked. I retired early - and it was like a gift to myself - a new start for hubby and me.

Allie,
I cracked up when you said the nipples looked like bottle caps. So true, so true. lol - All better now of course but DH was trippin' out for sure.

Sandra,
You may be right - the time isn't now but if and when you decide, it really isnt your bf decision. Its yours. What will make you feel better. I have had my share of nay sayers as well but I ignored them. After all, its my life, my money and my body. Congrats on your weight loss - 45 pounds is WONDERFUL.

Yeah bottle caps fo SHO! Looked like you could just twist em off.

And be prepared for folk to have negative comments about you having such surgery. Ignore em and DO YOU! I know I NEVER thought I'd be how I am now. NEVA. And guess what........ had I not had my surgery I would NEVER be exercising like I am either. Cause before i was kinda like 'whats the point, I have the loose skin of an elephant'. I'm not saying thats a good mentality to have, but thats reality. Now I do it 6 days a week and feel better than ever in my life.

I would love to have a lift when I get down to goal and have maintained for a bit. I don't think mine were perky even as a pre-teen. I've always envied flatter women who can go without bras and don't have to worry about their breasts getting in the way.

I was scheduled for my lift in July...backed out. I just couldn't reconcile $9000 when I still have 2 kids to put thru college etc. I think the $$ was just too much for me wrap my brain around. I would love a TT and BL, but I'm not sure when I'll have the extra cash...maybe for my 50th Birthday...

Maybe you should try going out of New York to have it done. When doing a little research, prices across the country seemed to all range from 5,000 to 6,000 and that was for everything, surgery, hospital, anestesia, etc..... The overall message was that you should expect to pay 50% more to have it done in New York or certain parts of California.....

I'm definitely getting it done - and a reduction - I currently wear a 36 JJ!!!!! and am moving to a 34 JJ soon - as my current bras are getting a bit big aroudn the back - but not that big around the rest. I really don't want to ago a lot smaller - perhaps - an E cup would be nice (this is at least 8 sizes smaller in the cup - if I do too much more I think the surgery would be very difficult - however from the surgeon I have spoken to it will be very difficult and painful anyway - but I am not staying big - even when I lost weight many years ago the best I managed to get to was a G cup!).

This however does bring me to question the size bras everyone is wearing (bra fitting is a mission of mine!). I cannot believe women who weigh over 100lbs less than I do need the same back size (ie 36) - yes it does change size as the cup size gets bigger (as does the cup size when the back gets bigger - ie a 32 D cup versus a 36 D cup - the cup is not the same size - and a 36 A and a 36 D the back is not the same size).

There is a great bra shop in the UK - that my Mum & I go to - and she went to be 'measured' - well they don't actually get a tape measure out - they look at the bra you are wearing, see it how it fits and then get some other sizes for you to try on. Mum went in a 36 C (feeling she ought to be wearing a D) - she left wearing a 30 G - and she says that no bra has ever fitted so comfortably - she wishes she had gone in years before. Another girlfriend who believed she wore a 34 A went in and left feeling great about here breasts as she went to a 30 D. I don't know if I'm allowed to give websites here - but as it holds no competition for the lowcarb or netrition - I will give it - it is really worth a read: http://www.bravissimo.com/bravissimo...rafitting.aspx

But anyway - back to whether you should have it done - are you fit enough? can you afford it? do you want it? - if the answer is yes - I would recommend going for it.

I'm not waiting till I reach goal 41 more lbs - and the doc will allow me to undergo elective surgery - and I will be planning to have it done asap - just have to decide where here in Aus or in the UK!

I just recently thought about doing this. The question is how far out of the area do I have to go to get a good price? There arer post operative visits to deal with...back and forth to Ohio or Tenn is quite a trip for a Doctor visit. Maybe Penn... It's a possibility!
