Q's for those LC & Breastfeeding

Hi all, I'm new to this forum but not to LCing. I have a 6 month old bouncing baby girl which I am breastfeeding. I need to love app. 40 lbs (the same 40 I lost doing Atkins 2 years ago, UGH!! ) and the only thing that works for me is LC.

I don't want to compromise my milk supply as I intend to nurse until 1 year but am getting more & more depressed about my weight. My questions are:

1) How do you know how many carbs a day to consume without affecting supply?
2) Any idea what affect sugar alcohols may have for baby? Do they pass into milk?

Any suggestions/support are greatly appreciated.

Kristin

Do a search on posts by LunaAshling or check out the Pregnant or TTC thread in this forum. Lots of great info there.

It may take some juggling to figure out the carb level that works for you. Anything more than 2 lbs. a day can jeapordize your milk supply and dump the toxins that are in your fat into your milk.

I think the common recommendation is to start out at a maintenance level and then adjust from there. I've been doing well on 60g per day.

FWIW~ My supply has been fine at 60 gms but I'm not losing weight either... I plan to reduce my carbs again next week. Maybe you could start "high" (~80 grams) and reduce weekly from there... I'm not sure I'd start w/ induction...

Good luck!

I agree. It's safer to start out too high and gradually reduce than to start out too low.
