Yasmin? I have been on it for about 1.5 years and love it. No moodiness, no weight gain. I also skip the sugar pills and go straight to the next pack, skipping my period. Never had a problem.

I found 1 article on it. It seems to be much like Yasmin, with similar formularies, and was released by the FDA in April 2006.

I just compared the package inserts online and it appears that the main difference is that yasmin is 21 days on. 7 days off and YAZ is 24 days on, 4 days off.

My biggest concerns (other than forgetting to take them) are the weight gain & hair loss.

I was very disapointed with my Dr. - she had no interest in discussing different BC with me at all - just handed me the script and walked out.

I've been on depo since I was 17 so I've never used anything else.

Well, at least with the pills, If you experience the side effects you can stop taking them. I would give it at least the first month, though, maybe 2, just to be sure any effects you might notice are from the pills. ( I mean for hair loss/wt gain- there are other more serious ones that your Pharm can talk to you about that would make you stop immediatly)

If I were you I would think about going to another Dr. if that is how she treated you. Maybe you can call and speak with a nurse to get some your questions/concerns answered?

I have been on four different types of BC since I was 17 (now 29) and never have had a problem with mood swings, weight gain (maybe 5 pounds) or hair loss (never even heard of that). If you do decide take it, give it at least three months for your body to adjust. And try to pick a time when you will remember to take them...first thing when you wake up or last thing you do before bed. BC pills these days are much different than they used to be, very low hormone with a lot less adverse side effects. Good luck!

I had been taking Aviane... I just discovered that I have a fibroid tumor between the size of a peach and cantaloupe. My doctor asked me to try the YAZ pills which I will start in a couple of weeks. It looks like you start taking the pills on the first day of your period.

After reading the pamphlet, side affects are nausea vomiting, bleeding between periods, weight gain, breast tenderness and difficulty wearing contact lenses.

I'm curious to know how these pills for for people...

Hopefully it will help you!
