Back Pain / Hysterectomy
I have been having really bad lower back pain. I have an appointment to have an injection in my spine on 05/30. I also have recieved a call from my OB/gyn that she thinks it's time to do my hysterectomy, due to my cyst and tumors getting larger since my last CT scan. I'm having a MRI tomorrow. Has anyone had the horrible back pain that went away after their hysterectomy?

I had low burning back pain and that's the 1st thing I noticed when I was coherent following a complete hyster, NO MORE PAIN! I had quite alot of adenomyosis (sp) according to my doc and that was pulling on my organs and causing the pain. Once it was gone, so was the back pain.

Thanks that's what I'm thinking is causing mine. I wanted to put it off during the summer but I'm so miserable when I try to stay active I'm beginning to believe I might as well get it over so I can get on with my life!! I also think that my pain is making it hard to lose weight because I can't be as active as I'd like... My mind is saying "Go Go" but my body it like "What the heck are you trying to do???"

I did not have back pain, but I had constant pelvic pain for a few months before my complete hysterectomy on 2/28. I had lots of cysts and endometriosis. The pain is all gone now and it is great. If you have not been there yet, check out hystersisters.com . It is a great support site for before and after hysterectomies.

I had a hys to remover cancer so I dont know exactly what it must be like for those of you with pain before. I can tell you that after the hys I had some back pain due to I think laying around recovering. Nothing major and it gets better and better as healing progresses. So if you have soem back discomfort after, it may be due to the position you are in during surgery, constipation (which is reflective of anesthesia) and recovery. But it gets better. Best wishes!
