When should I see a doctor?

I am over 5 weeks late on my period. I really dont want to go to the doctor so right now I am waiting it out a couple more weeks to see if I suddenly get my period but how much longer should I wait before I make myself an appointment? Thanks!

do you think you are pregnant? Have you taken a pregnancy test? Are you normally really regular? Have you recently started a heavy exercise program?

Could you be pregnant? If there is a chance, I would go to the store and take a test - if you are pregnant (not sure what plan you are following) but you would need to up your carbs a little if you are doing Atkins induction etc to make sure wee one is getting nutrition If you are not pregnant I would go and see the doctor just for peace of mind. You never know what is going on. I have also read on these posts that low carbing sometimes changes periods etc. I would go to the doctors and not try to guess what is going on - like Nina said - better safe than sorry.

Still a virgin, so dont need to worry about that ha. I run a lot so I'm thinking that changed my period but I sprained my ankle about a week ago so I havent been running. Can I go to a regular family doctor and tell her that I am low carbing and working out a lot and perhaps she can help me without looking down there, or am I going to have to go to a gyno? I really dont want to, never been before eck.

If you feel comfortable with your family doctor, go there. She can do an exam and then ask her to recommend a gyn. At 19 it's time to fine one and start getting annual exams. It's really not bad and the peace of mind that everything is okay will outweigh the apprehension you may go through beforehand.

I totally understand how you feel . . . but you should go get checked out. . . I didn't go for my first female exam until I was 27. It was not nearly as bad as I thought! I did choose a woman for that first exam, though.

(Good job on being a virgin. . I am waiting, too! Well, okay, committed to secondary virginity. I regret having shared sex with others besides "the one.")
