Sorry ladies that it took me so long to get back on here! This will be a quickie and I will try to get to personals tomorrow. Had my little guy on 4/3 (WOOOHOOO Saltire while I am at it!). I gained a total of 11 pounds. C-section went smoothly. He was my littlest baby to date a 8 1/2 lbs, but he was almost 2 weeks early. He had some blood sugar and jaundice issues, but they resolved. I had a few complications after that kept me at the hospital a bit longer than planned. But all is fine now. I kept mostly lowcarb while at the hospital... only foiled by the need to be on a liquid and surgical diet for a couple of days. Today he is 2 weeks old and he is a pretty easy baby. HUGS to all.... I will get back with more chat later!!!! |

Congrats girl!!! We wanna see pics of the little guy! Thanks for the good thoughts!
So what's the guideline carb amount while pg? Isn't it something like 100 per day? I ate a banana yesterday - saw it and it looked so YUMMY! I plan on adding fresh fruits now - lower glycemic ones though. I ate a small portion of sweet potatoes for Easter too. Very yummy! Very excited that everything so far looks the best of my other pregnancies by a mile. I've decided to go back to the doctor one more time tomorrow and get one last b/w in to check my levels and also my progesterone. I started taking a newer progesterone suppository last night - hope it helps to boost my numbers. They are on the low side but not dangerously so. It's 16.8 and I want it to be over 20.

IT IS A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last Thursday we had an ultrasound to say that YES, it IS a boy! We are so excited. The tech said that she would be surprised if doc didn't move my due date up 2 weeks..........guess we'll see once I visit him again. At 19 weeks and 2 days, he was already a pound. Averyjenn- I believe that the carb intake is to just stay out of ketosis. I don't do anything close to 100 a day. But I do eat some fruits. |

Congrats Luna on your precious new little boy! I can't wait for mine to get here! And WTG on only gaining 11 lbs., and you've probably already lost more than that!
I'm 28 wks. today and up a total of 21 lbs., hoping to keep it to one lb a week gain at the most from here on out. carissa, congrats on another little boy for our group! How exciting, I just LOVE little boys, they're soooo sweet. Of course I have no girls to compare to, yet! Congrats Jenn on your news, wishing you a healthy pregnancy!

Damn we are putting out the boys in here!
Thanks everyone! I did add a small pic as my av for awhile... I don't normally post my kids pics or info so I thought I would comprimise! Avery I have my fingers crossed for you hun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As for carbs..... well that is the golden debate! EVERYONE including every doc will tell you something different. My best advice is to try to go as natural as possible and as low glycemic as possible. Read "Nourishing Tradtions", and the Weston Price website. Even Atkins gave props to them! Some fruits and veggies may be high glycemic but they still carry nutrition that empty sugar and white flour does not. Try to keep to whole nutrition and if you can keep it lower carb you will be ahead of the race too! This is what I tried to do and was about 90% sucessful. I definately was not perfect, but I tried alot harder than I ever did before and it helped this time! Listen to your body... if it feels crappy when you eat something... don't eat it. But if it "sings" then go for it. I had a two month period where I was consuming Clementines like they were going extinct! |

Luna - oh my he is beautiful. What a darling little baby. Thanks for the info too - I figured I'd do some research once I get a little farther along but for now, I'm sticking with how I usually eat but relaxing on the carbs a bit for more whole grains.
Thanks for the good wishes! |

5 weeks today can time go any slower? I went for a 3rd beta and progesterone test yesterday and my progesterone (p4) levels fell slightly and I got freaked out. My beta (pregnancy hormones) are awesome though and are what is keeping me going. They changed my p4 support again - I went from once daily vaginal suppository at night to 3x daily vaginal suppository. I go back on Friday and if my numbers aren't better, they may switch me to PIO (progesterone in oil) shots which are even more expensive. I belong to an infertility website and they all made me feel better - your p4 levels go up and down during the day so they could have just taken my blood when it was down. Also, the suppositories do not affect your blood but get the p4 directly where you need it, right at your uterus. The only that affects your b/w is the PIO shots. So I definitely feel better. I scheduled my first u/s for May 1st. I'll be 6w4d then and hope and
to see a h/b!Other than that, I've got all good symptoms - peeing every 2 hours, tired, sore boobs, slight nausea and all the good stretchy twinges. Wish I could go to sleep and wake up in December! |

I had my first ultrasound on tuesday. The baby was kicking and squirming up a storm at 13 weeks. He/she kept doing flips and summersaults and twisting around causing the ultrasound tech all sorts of trouble! Nuchal transluscency test results were great. I just didn't like needing TWO seperate blood tests in one day, I have a real needle phobia! The first nurse was not gentle at all and I have a huge bruise on my arm and it still hurts 2 days later
The second one was really great and i don't have a bruise or any pain on that arm.Ok this is REALLY early for me to even be discussing this, but I really like researching everything and picking the stuff with good reviews etc, I figure this is a work in progress and will take me a few months anyways! ![]() Sooooo, baby registry. I'm not really doing one for baby showers or anything like that, although my in-laws will probably want to pick something from there because MY parents have already gone crazy and bought us so much stuff (Crib, bouncy seat, bassinette, playpen, and my father will make the rest of the nursery furniture). I will mostly use it as a shopping list for myself, so that whenever I have some extra cash after a paycheque I can start buying stuff off the list and hopefully have everything I need and not be broke by the time baby comes. Anyways, what does a newborn baby really NEED? The lists on other sites list so much stuff, I'm not sure if it's all needed. What are the things you could not have survived without, and what are the things you could have just not bothered with? I was a 9 pound baby myself, so should I expect a large baby myself? Meaning, should I skip the newborn clothes and just buy the next size up? End of October baby, it's going to be quite cold up here, so winter stuff is what I'll need. I already have 3 coat/pouch things for outside, thanks to my mother's bargain shopping. Also, breast pumps. I'm thinking of going with the Medela Pump In Style Advanced pump. It's a bit pricey, but I think this is one of those things that you don't want to go cheap on. However, my cousin tells me that electric pumps are extremely SLOW and that manual is the way to go. I plan *cross my fingers* on breastfeeding for the whole year i'm off on maternity leave (yay for Canada's maternity policies) so I figure hand pumping may get REALLY old, and this pump seems to have both an electric and a hand pump. What do you think? The convenience of an electric pump will be nullified if it takes 3 times longer than a manual one. Anyways, any advice is appreciated ![]()

Congrats Luna! What an angel! I am anxiously (or should I say impatiently) awaiting the arrival of my little girl in about 3 weeks. The acid indigestion is the pits. I have been sick with bronchitis on top of all of this. Ugh! My immunity just stinks being pregnant. Not long now though.
As for the question of breast pumps, I myself have the Medela one that you spoke of. It was indispensible for my last two pregnancies. I found out the hard way that breast pumps are something that you don't want to cheap out on. Manual pumping is a pain in the neck. It is so much easier with the electric and the Medela does the best job at pretty much draining you out when you feel like your breasts are going to burst. I am glad that I didn't get rid of mine when I thought that my husband and I were done with having babies. I just need to replace the tubes on it. |

Shelly what gorgeous children you have!!
This progesterone is making me bloat big time which is making me look pg already. That along with the fact that this is my 5th pregnancy (but hopefully first child) means I show earlier and earlier every time. By nighttime, my clothes are already too tight! Wearing loose clothes now - still have shorts a size or 2 up from last summer which is great and some tops too so I'm good for quite awhile I hope! My ultrasound is a week today - praying the week flies by! |
