HELP!! RETIN A MICRO-RED, BURNING, & PEELING
Please help!!! I started using Retin A Micro .1 about a month ago and have had no peeling or irritation until yesterday. I used it again last night and woke up with red blotches, peeling and burning. I tried putting lotion on my face this morning and it just burned. I don't know what to put on my face and how long I should take a break from Retin A. Is this normal? My neck has very big red blotches, but those don't hurt. My face is blotchy, peeling and burning. Any help and suggestions would be great!!!

It's probably normal, I had similar problems when I used it, but you could've developed an allergy. You might run by your dermatologist and just have em give it the once-over to be sure. Barring an allergy, the tips that helped me were: waiting at least 15 minutes after washing before applying moisturizer, only washing once a day, never using astringent, and using one of 2 good moisterizers that I found (the only ones that work for me are clinique - pricey, but lasts a long time - and cetaphil)

Also, with Retin-A .... more is NOT better. Most people suggest a *pea* sized amount to cover the whole face. I have sometimes used a cortizone cream to heal excessive reddness .... usually goes away overnight.

Did you use it right after washing your face? You should wait about an hour after to allow oils to build or it will burn your face.
I was on it in the late 80's and it was a pain with the peeling and stuff; but in the end, I had a new skin that is smooth and acne free. Good luck to you! |
