Last weeks thread: Pregnant or Trying thread for Mar 6th - 13th

Pregnant Challenge of the Week:
(My new weekly idea and it will change each week)

This weeks challenge is to pull out a dusty cookbook and try at least one new lc recipe that you have never had before. Can be for any type of item. Then tell us what you made!

Can I get a vote... should I leave the TTC ladies on here or would they rather just be on the other thread? Does anyone care either way? Would anyone like me to remove or add them? Just let me know!

I am so sorry ladies! I have been sick and having ALOT of painful contractions... I don't know if I will last another 4 weeks. I see the doc tomorrow and should know more then! It's been hard to make myself post as I am really uncomfy and really tired... I am getting maybe 2-3 hours of broken sleep a night.

Personals that I did not get to....

carissa_konrad... I seem to feel the baby move earlier and earlier each time. This time was well before 20 weeks by over a month. It's different for everyone!

You can't really prevent stretch marks. It's part genes and part skin elasticity. During pregnancy you just have to do the fingers crossed method! Ofcourse my mom has ZERO and I was not so lucky! But oddly enough even though I had BAD ones with the last two pg's... I have NOT got any new ones... weird!

shelly
... I was wondering where the heck you were! She is sooooooooooooo cute!

Soooo..... should I put you back on the TTC list?

ljh150... do you feel comfy with the birth center? It's not too late to try to find another MW that can do a home birth! Do you ever watch "House of Babies" on TLC? That looks like a VERY nice center!

Shancopp... Alden kinda jumps out at me. You don't hear that anywhere! Might want a few girl "A" names just incase! I have one of the heartbeat monitors from last pg but have not used it this time.

kbeth... the frozen berries and cream was my FAVORITE lc snack before pg! If you break up a sf chocolate bar into it it gives it a bit of a "chocolate dipped" feel too!

metroames ... I fixed the list and CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah heartburn!

umayya
... CONGRATS on your Valentine baby!!!!!! Sweetie I hope everything gets easier for your little guy! There have been threads in the past on upping your milk supply... and you may want to try reading some of the past bf'ing threads (even if you are not lc'ing). Maybe a post here in the womens health section for more ideas! Good luck hun and thanks for coming and telling us whats been going on! I REALLY hope you heal! I had a similar issue but it was the "pink parts" of me that got infected and did not heal for 6 months!

Wow, Luna 36 weeks? With painful contractions I'd just get it over with The longest I've made it was 36 weeks with my DS (2nd child) and only 32 with my first (DD). With how little sleep you're getting now it seems there wont be much of a difference except you might be a little more comfortable and have a baby in your arms .

I finaly got a crib today. We had bought a realy nice one for DS thinking we could use it again but the movers broke it while packing it in Japan.....so, had to buy a new one. Of cource all of the stores in our town were sold out so I had to drive an hour to Boise ( the big city around here ). Went to toys'r'us and got the crib I wanted but not the color I wanted because they were also sold out of that. Is everyone suddenly having babies or something? I wanted to go ahead and get it and put it together before I get to big to do it myself, so that hubby and I can relax for a couple weeks before the baby comes when he gets home and not worry about that stuff.

My mom bought us plane tickets home for my B-day so me and the kids are going back to Dallas for spring break! Get to see friends and family which I could really use as my only good friend here moves away this week.

Hope everyone is having a good week. The new baby pics are great!

Also wanted to add that I was already going to do that challenge this week before I even knew it was the challenge! I'm going to coat some eggplant in parm and bake it, then cover it in sauce and more cheese and bake it some more and see how things turn out. I saw it on the cooking chanel the other day and it looked great, I'm just omiting the bread crumbs.

I didn't try the carrots as I cant stand the texture of them in your mouth as youre chewing them. I know odd but its been that way since I was a child. I do however realy like to take frozen mellon balls and dip them in dip of creamcheese, sour cream and splenda. Also good on frozen grapes and berries.

Luna, I'm not "technically" on the TTC list, cause we're not "technically" Ttc but I would think that you should do whatever works best and is easiest for you. A little extra baby dust doesn't hurt anyone, but if it's more trouble than it's worth, I doubt you need to do it. I bet that most of us are still lurking on here, regardless of where we do most of our posting. I like you challenges, they work for me, too - I'm definitely gonna try that eggplant parmesan that Orphalie was talking about. Yumm-o!

LUNA- I'm so sorry you are uncomfortable. I'm sure this is getting REALLY old! We'll be thinking of you!

I was also hoping to try some new recipes with St. Pat's and all. I started a thread in the recipes and suggestions looking for new ideas!

Do we retain more water when we are preganet? I've gained more than what I would like at this point, but nowhere but my belly has changed. I still where all my pants, just rubber banded shut? I've been LC'ing still, so I'm just wondering if the pregnancy itself calls for fluid retension

Orphalie... man that sucks about the movers! Soon you will not be awake enough to care about the color! I will see the doc later this afternoon... they know I am already dilating from last week. That is so cool your mom did that!!!!

Were you watching the eggplant battle on Iron Chef a couple of days ago?

jenkat... I am not trying to get rid of anyone! I am perfectly fine leaving the ttc on here... I just wanted to know if the ttc ladies were fine with it or if they rather just be on one! I got PLENTY of baby dust to still dole out!

carissa_konrad... Retaining can happen to alot of folks... but you want to watch it for preeclampsia (sp?). I don't appear to be this time around. Last time my son went head down early into my left hip and blocked of some of the "drains" and my poor leg/legs got REALLY bloated! Oh man that hurt!

Ofcourse if it's just your belly.... the baby does grow there!

johnandchicken
... Nice to see you again! I am hoping this time around to ride the "initial" weightloss after birth and to keep going! Just got to stay positive and focused. That and I don't want a really "fat" summer with 3 kids! I wont ever be wearing a bikini again... but man I would love to lose and not GAIN even more after birth this time!

I don't have SPD but I do suffer from sciatic nerve issues in my hips (especially the left one) and in pg #2 my abdomen muscles split in half all the way up and down and those never go back. So I can sympathize with you over pain!

Unfortunately Johnandchicken I can relate. The problem can be made worst by a baby who moves down very early also. With my last pregnancy my son did this and pulled my hips apart alot (they dont go back ) and it does seriously hurt. Mine would feel like someone wacking me on the pubic bone with a hammer. It happened alot when I would try to roll over in bed or stand up or when DS would stick his little feet on my ribs and push his head further into my hips. I haven't had much of it this time around though, sharp pains here and there but not every day all day, at least not yet. Hot bathes and tighter clothing around my hips seemed to help some. Sorry you're going through that.

Lol, another topic. Who has strange very vivid dreams while pregante? I have them almost every night and due to the fact I wake up every hour I might even fall back asleep and have more.

Last nights dreams were all about giving birth. In the first one I gave birth to 4 baby boys . It was a shock as we thought we were having only one so then the doctor only let us pick one to take home??? Very odd, but not as odd as the next in which I gave birth to a CAT. Yes a cat. I kept wondering how the heck that happened in the dream, and I'm not even very fond of them in RL. Can anyone interpret dreams here? LOL! I think I may need help!

I have had hardly any dreams this time that I was pg or had a new baby. It's really weird! Last pg's I had wild ones.

I am scheduled for 4/3/06 for my repeat C. It is on a Monday. So I am warning you all now I will be MIA for the thread for a week or two. If someone else would like to keep it going that would be great! You just cut and paste the list and bump everyone up a week and add any new info.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Johnandchicken, i was wondering about your sonogram? Was it covered by your insurance and if not how much was it? This is our last baby and I'd like to have one of those done. Its not covered by our insurance and if I can find a place to do one for a realistic price then I'd realy like to do it.

Orphalie...Well im suprised myself i even got one! Im on medicaid as a backup to my crappy insurance...the small hospital i will be giving birth in just got the machine...they told me my last ultrasound you had to be 31 weeks or over to get one and when i went back last week at 33 weeks i asked for it and they just gave it to me...didnt say nothing bout money and i never got a bill so im guessing its covered..Ill tell u what though i didnt get the perfect shot with the 4d...sometimes its a hit or miss depending on how your baby is positioned...and actually the ultrasound itself was a really nice photo...people actually see her better in the regular ultrasound photo then in the 4d. Im also still suprised i will be getting another ultrasound in my 36 week...which will be my third ultrasound..my doc is ultrasound happy and im not high risk lol...im gonna ask for the 4d again maybe then i can get a good shot...but she was soooo cramped i dont think i will get a better shot then before....goodluck and i hope u can get one!

Hi guys. I've been missing, but I am falling apart now.

A little background.
Last year I lost almost 80 lbs. and was down to 183 lbs. Then slowly started regaining it. Stupid me. I was back up to 230 lbs when I found out I was pregnant. I was 239 at my first prenatal and am now 253 lbs. at 18 weeks. I hate that I can gain as quickly as I do. I was scared to stay in ketosis during the first trimester but I feel better about it now being further along. I've heard the arguements on both sides.

All I know is that I am miserable right now. I feel terrible... look terrible. I need help. I want to get back on the wagon. Can you guys help me? Those of you who are still LCing, can you show me some of your menu's. What your eating? My doc told me to stop eating the simple sugars and he is the one who told me about LC to begin w/ so he is ok with this woe.

TIA!

Well, I hear your pain! I too am feeling BIG. I started out before pregnancy as a very small person for my height, all thanks to low carb. I'm at 15 1/2 weeks and 13 lbs up. I understand that with pregnancy comes weight, it is just discouraging at this point. BUT we have to remember to still with LC, because it is the healthiest for our babies.

I'm doing lc as best as I can, and am up 15 lbs at week 23. I've been eating a lot of virgin coconut oil, it's one of the healthiest fats, and I feel great when I get enough of it. I loosly follow a Nourishing Traditions type diet, and try to only eat sprouted or soaked grains. I feel the absolute best when I stick with that type of diet. Eat Fat Lose Fat and Nourishing Traditions, both written by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig, are great resources for a healthy and thoroughly satisfying diet, pregnant or not. Visit the Weston A Price website or Eat Fat Lose Fat.com for more info.

Best of luck to you! I'm hoping to lose mine fairly easily while nursing. I started lc while nursing my last and went from 251 to below 200 just while nursing him 5 months! Whatever you do, stay as far away as possible from trans fats, they're horrible for you and the baby.

TIA!
Hey Amber! I gained all my weight back while pregnant. I encourage you to get back on the wagon. Eat lean meat and lots of veggies. That was what my doc said to do. (I just quit hearing him at my 17th week mark) Some whole grains and fruit may be okay- depending on your tolerance. It is not to late to turn it around. At very least- getting control of what you eat gives you control over SOMETHING and lets face it- there isn't much you are in control of right now.....lol

Orph- I had tons of ultrasounds while preggo (I was considered high risk), and everytime I had one they would do a 4d. Some regular ultrasounds just have that ability and if that is the case I don't think they charge you. Otherwise, there are several clinics that specialize in it (in my area at least...) you could ask your doctor about it. Once the baby turned and started dropping low you couldn't really see anything. This was my first kinda good one at 18weeks:

They got better- best at the end of second/beginning of third trimester. She would do a "live" 4D mode so we could watch the baby for 10 minutes at time move around in live mode- way cool.

Luna- the end is the worst!

Carissa- I would retain more water from time to time starting from day one of my pregnancy, I was extra sensitive to salty stuff. ONe day my rings would fit, the next they wouldn't......and then the end.....wow. You could have popped me with a pin! lol

Johnandchicken- I always forgot to drink enough! I was always getting in trouble for that!

Good luck to everyone!

(hope you guys don't mind that I hijacked your thread- but I'm newly through the pregnancy expereince and am here to offer any encouragement you guys may need!)

HI Ladies,

Thanks for keeping me on the list. It has been sooo long since I last posted here, sorry!!! Last month we did a Monitored Clomid 100mg cycle at a fertility clinic and had a HORRIBLE experience with them. Wasted $1200 and many many sleepless nights.
This cycle my regular dr. prescribed Clomid 150mg for me so we're praying for a miracle. DH and I have been TTC #1 for 15 months now and had one miscarriage last March.

I'm sooo happy to see everyone doing well and progressing in their pg .

Hey Maja. TTC can be hard but you have to look at it in prespective. It took us 2 1'2 years to get pregnate with DS, only a couple of weeks with DD and 6 months this last time. I'm sure that its right around the corner for you. Try Try Try not to stress about it, if you can try not to even think about it. Thats when it seems to happen for so many. Just enjoy your time with your DH and enjoy the "trying" for what it is, a heck of a whole lotta fun.
