NOT PREGNANT BUT TRYING? Week ending 3/19/06
Morning girls! Hope everyone has a great week!! TOM is due for me on Thurs, gosh I hate this week!! The nerves start to get to you. So my question for the week is:
How many of you get "phantom" pg signs when you're NOT pg? Our minds play terrible tricks on us!! My "phantom" pg sign this month - my stomach is WICKED bloated. I started maintenance levels in Atkins a few weeks ago and I'm up a few lbs - enough to put me back on induction levels this week. My belly is up enough to make me wonder...since I've been pg before and this would be my 5th pg, each time I start to bloat earlier and earlier so it COULD be a real sign or a phantom sign. Either way, I'll know on Thurs! After 5 years of TTC, I blow off the "phantom" signs but they are enough to get your hopes up! Baby dust around!

Hello! I would like to join you ladies on this thread. My name is Crystal, and my DH is Kurt. We are TTC #1. We have been actively trying for about 1 year now, but not preventing for almost 2 years. I was on the pill for 7 years, Depo for 3.5 years, and then NuvaRing for 7 months, and I think my body is having a very difficult time balancing out after all of that.
I have been charting BBT and using OPks, and I'm pretty sure I suffer from LPD - LP is only 9 days and I spot for 3-4 days of that. I went to my Dr. about it last week, and am having CD3 bloodwork done today and a pelvic sonogram next week. So, I'm very glad to have the ball rolling here. Oh, and I get phantom pregnancy symptoms every cycle . Wishful thinking, I guess. ![]() |

CD16 here, so we're officially in the 2ww.
Jenn, it's funny that you mention phantom symptoms. I have this idea in my head that I'll know way early, I know it's probably not true, but I always feel that way, so EVERYTHING becomes a symptom. It's been something different each cycle, too, just to keep me guessing So far it's been monster hunger one month, and SUPER cramping the last half of my cycle last month. This month, I'm thinkin it's gonna be the BB soreness Anywho, Baby dust to all (and some sticky dust to Jenn, just in case )Oh yeah, and I bought a BBT thermometer yesterday, but don't have the TCOYF book yet. What am I supposed to be doing with this thing? ![]() ETA: Beba. Now, get TOM outta here and get back to some BDin ![]()

I'm following you guys- not TTC- just had baby #1. I went through years of infertility and finally got preggo, now doc says if I want #2 I need to conceive quickly for my best chance to not go through the hell of problems again. But DS is only 6 weeks so I'll hold off a LITTLE while, lol.
Anyhow, just wanted to offer encouragement. I always had phantom signs and then when I did get pregnant I had none! When I look back I see some signs really early on- like from week one- tired and very thirsty. But no other "signs" for me! I found out really early (4 weeks) because I had a pre-op ultrasound (I was having surgery on Friday and went in on Monday for the ultrasound). That is how I found out I was pregnant- saved me a surgery!!! I used the clear blue easy firtility monitor- and got preggo that month. Probably not even related to one another- but I'd use it again! Good luck guys and if you need any extra encouragement I'm always around. I'll say a prayer for each of you.

Roxanne - hope your RE appt goes well!! Let us know what happens.
Beba - so sorry about TOM showing up... JenKat - on the BBT - take your temp first thing in the morning, before peeing or moving too much. I would monitor my daily temps - really from the beginning of a cycle, you will see a fall and rise. First day of TOM = CD1 and you start from there. But even in the 2ww, I'd start now and start tracking. Take it with a grain of salt though. This is how a cycle typically goes - TOM comes and your temp goes down. It stays down and may go up slightly but right before ovulation, it will dip - this is typically the best time to bd. Then after you ovulate, it will rise up and stay up. Now SOMETIMES it can go up even higher - bringing on a triphasic curve - and stay up. They say this is a good sign of pg BUT I've been triphasic and NOT been pg. It's just evil. The GOOD thing about charting is it lets you know if you've ovulated and when. Also when you are tracking, you can monitor your cervical mucus and position of your uterus. Too much of a pain for me but some women do this too. You can get charts online - keep the charts and if you are still not having any luck, your doc will want to see them. They show your luteal phase too. My status: Who knows...I know this, my belly is FAT. I'm up big time. I went on maintenance since my cruise and all of a sudden on Sunday my belly blew up. I'm either pg or just not doing good on maintenance. I assume not pg until proven otherwise. I know I sound crazy thinking that my belly blowing up already could mean being pg, but my next pg would be my 5th one and each time, my belly blows up earlier and earlier. This would be really early but last time I was 5 weeks so it's POSSIBLE, I suppose. Who knows. TOM is due tomorrow or Thursday. I have very very slight cramping going on and pain in my "girls" but that also means nothing. Could easily mean TOM too - no hopes up here...time will tell! |

Morning ladies!
Roxanne - Thanks for the welcome. I hope all goes well at the RE today! bebamom - I know how extra special disappointing it is when AF shows early.jenkat - check out fertilityfriend dot com. They offer free BBT charting software online, and have pretty good documentation that answers a lot of questions on how to chart. I never bought TCOYF, but I still chart with the help of fertilityfriend's software. averjenn - I'll keep my fingers crossed that your tummy is a good sign! As for me, not much new to report. I went and had my CD3 (which was actually CD4, but CD3 was a Sunday ) bloodwork done yesterday. Now, I wait for my pelvic sonogram next week, and then a follow-up appointment to discuss the results of both the week after that. So, we'll see. and babydust to all!! |

Oh yeah and I POAS and got a BFN. I had one hpt which expired 2 months ago, figured I needed some new ones anyway. As soon as I do, I get cramps. It IS the fastest way to get TOM, I tell ya! Oh well, back at it next cycle!

Jenn, I was just gonna ask if you were a POAS addict and if/when you would test. Don't give up hope yet, it ain't over till AF sings, in my book.
Roxanne - GL at the RE, let us know how it goes Crystal - GL on the b/w, keep us posted I'm sittin here with this burning/crampy kind of feeling on my left side and I'm thinkin maybe it's O time. That sux, cause then I definitely need to have this LP thing looked into. Before this month, I had thought I was Oing fairly early and just having a short cycle before my LP. So thanx for the BBT advice, I'm gonna get started on that so I can get a handle on what's going on. Baby dust to all! |

Hi Ladies,
The RE appointment went well. She did an ultrasound and said that I have a follicle that's ready to ovulate and she prescribed a trigger shot, which I will be administering tonight. Bebamom, sorry about TOM's arrival. ![]() Kat, I use Fertility Friends to chart my temps. I just started this cycle. Tarrah, thanks for the encouragement! Jenn, sorry about the BFN. I'm inclined to agree with you about POAS; everytime I do AF seems to come very shortly thereafter. I think I'm developing a phobia now... Crystal, I hope that all goes well with your bloodwork, sonogram, etc. ![]()

I had the most phantom symptoms for about two weeks! Maybe it started because I went to my cousin's baby shower (her second), when my other cousin announced that she was pg (her third, at 4 weeks) and my aunt said she was going to pray to patron saint of pregnancy and fertility. I guess it was a nice thought, but it made me feel kinda bad.
Then, I went to a website that I think is called "two week wait" .com and convinced myself that I felt about 75% of those symptoms. I bought a two pack test and.......well, no, I wasn't pregnant, but I thought it was certain this time. I think I might wait until I actually miss my period, before even thinking about it.... I have also started temping. I will look at the fertility tracking websites, but I have a MAC at home, so if anyone has a suggestion for that software, it would be so appreciated. |

Kat - I'd def talk to your doc about the short cycles - they can help you with that - probably prescribe Clomid - it lengthens your cycles and strengthens your luteal phase.
Roxanne - great news about the follie! Hope you survived the trigger - gosh I hate those!! Not the shot but what it does to me, makes me go from feeling not pg to feeling about 8w pg in about an hour. Janet - phantom symptoms are just mean!! Sorry I don't know anything about Mac's and how they interact with other software. The patron saint of pg is St. Gerard - I have a medal for him which I've worn before. I may need to dig that out! Okay, so I'm still around and no TOM yet but I'm sure he's coming. Kat - I was addicted to hpt - which is why I bought tests from saveontests.com - you could get really accurate tests for dirt cheap. Once TOM comes, I'm ordering another set. Once I find out that I'm pg, I have decisions to make - take the drugs they suggest or not - so I think I'd rather find out sooner than later. Plus I hate the am I or aren't I phase! I'm having shooting pains in my nipples - had those when pg but I'm sure I've had them other times too. Just stinks to have these phantom signs!! **baby dust** |

Well, I temped for the first time today Now gotta try to get into a routine with that. It's kinda tough for me, cause my sleep is erratic at best. I've always had sleep problems and used sleep aids, but those are certainly out right now, so I just don't sleep... Any suggestions?baby dust to all and sticky dust to Jenn, just in case ![]() |

Have you tried the clear blue easy fertility monitor? I know several people who swear by it. You buy the monitor (like $199) and pee on a stick on a certain day of the cycle. Then, turn it on every morning when you wake up and it will tell you if it wants a test or not. When it does want a test (about 13 days out of the month) you pee on the stick, put the stick in and it reads your hormone level. It tells you when your levels are going up, tells you when it is a "good chance" day and a "on the money day". (you may be able to find one on ebay cheaper- the monitor just reads the stick, so using someone elses monitor is ok- I borrowed mine from a friend. It does store your info from month to month, but that can be overwritten.) On a sucky note for me- I am only 7 weeks post pardom and TOM arrived yesterday. I spotted my entire pregnancy (hence was in bed most of it too), just stopped bleeding from the delivery last week, and now TOM arrives. I'm giving myself 6-8 months and then going to try to get preggo again- and I'll use the fertility monitor! Baby dust to all of you! |

Hi everyone,
I just found this thread. My DH and I have been TTC for 7 years (yikes, it looks worse when you actually write it down). We've done 2 IVF cycles, (BFN! x2) among other things. Our situation is a little different, becasue the main issue is actually with DH. I still want to get down to my goal weight before we do any more treatments, becasue maybe that would help. We're both 38 and time is not on our side anymore. We actually separated for a little while, becasue we both got so down about it. But we are back together and "thinking" about another IVF (actually, we are saving up for another one). We both want a family so badly, if this doesn't work we'll investigate the adoption route. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi! Meg

over here, Meg ![]() Baby dust and for you and DH and your struggles. GL on the savings for IVF; DH and I are already planning when and how to get the adoption fund going if we're still at this in a couple years (I'm not just paranoid, his docs have told him that he'll likely have issues, too). If/when you need some support or a pick-me-up, feel free to holla ![]() |

Meg!! I do hope you post with us! Dh and I have been ttc for 5+ years ourselves. Our problem is STAYING pg once I get there. I'm so sorry for your struggles, I've not done IVF but one medicated IUI and the stress was awful so I cannot IMAGINE what it would be like with IVF. Hope you get the money soon! |

Thanks guys! It's nice to know there are people to relate to the infertility stuff. Seems like everyone I know is pregnant or has babies. I am happy for them all, truly, but you know that little pit of your stomach feeling? I hate that. Mostly becasue I feel ugly about feeling that way!
But now, if I could just get myself back on track food wise...I've been sugar bingeing this week. ACK! Anyone else know this cycle... Feel crappy...eat cookies...feel worse...eat candy...cry...promise never to do it again...do it again anyway! I'm incorrigable! Meg |

Oh Meg, I so understand!!! A few years ago, my boss, my best friend and about 6 other friends (not exaggeration) were all pg and I had 2 losses that year. It was awful and I was very badly depressed. Seeing the celebrities get pg by the butt load lately also gets sad. You are "happy" for your friends but feel so jealous you could die and then you feel like crap for feeling like crap about their pg. It's such a vicious cycle.
My pattern was: ttc, get upset about being obese, do LC, get pg, lose baby, cry and eat, gain back what I lost, then decided to ttc again, do LC, etc etc etc. It was awful. This time I took a year and a half off, got my life back together and here we are again on month #2. I feel your pain... |
