Pain After PAP Smear ?
I had a repeat smear test this morning.....my last one a couple of months ago was not clear enough to be read.
The nurse had a student in with her ( so dignified having two of them staring at my bits and pieces! ). Anyway she was saying to the student how it was vital to get enough cells because people hate having to go back for a repeat like I was. She then comments that she'd 'got a good layer, and I was starting to bleed'! This afternoon I've develped a low abdominal pain, a bit like a period pain. has anyone else had this experience and should I be concerned?

I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. I had a similar experience once, something about the timing in the month made me more likely to bleed and be sore (sorry, can't remember exactly what he said). I would pay attention to it for the next couple days and if it gets worse or you notice any abnormal discharge or anything, then I would definitely call. Most likely it'll resolve itself, but you want to make sure you don't develope an infection.
BTW: I'm definitely NOT a doctor (nor do I play one on tv ) so if you are concerned, go on and call your doc and let them put your mind at ease.HTH

Thanks Kat, things seem to be settling down a bit today so hopeully it will sort itself out, but as you say I'll see a Doc if I think it develops into an infection.
