Can the BCP cause this...? (warning: TMI)

I used to take ortho-cyclen before having my daughter three years ago... and didn't have any side-effects normally associated with the BCP.

I had been off of the pill for three years and recently started up again mid-January on a brand called Ovral... With this one I've been spotting CONSTANTLY for over a month - enough to have to use a light-flow tampon/pad, plus I had my normal cycle last week and started a new pack of pills this week and I'm still spotting.

In addition, I think my pH is off "down there"... Can the new BCP + low-carb cause this?

I haven't had sex in over a MONTH because of the spotting and I'm about to go out of my mind!!! Plus, I hate having my period for one week of the month, now it's 4 weeks a month!!! Good grief!!!

Also, can the diet cause a yeast infection in combination with the new BCP hormones?!?!?!

I have an appointment with my doc tomorrow, but I'm just going crazy here about thinking it could be the BCP...

I had this happen to me (constant spotting) and the Dr. switched BCPs and that helped.

Well, I went yesterday and she said it was definitely the BCP but that the constant bleeding had caused a bacterial infection too... I'm SO glad I went to discuss and have it checked out! She said it happens a lot to women switching pills or starting one for the first time.... So, I'm glad that worrying is done!

Glad to hear you got that taken care of. Did she change your pills or just tell you to keep taking them and it will eventually stop? My Dr changed them, my DH was driving me crazy (no koochie-koochie for a month) so I asked for my old ones back. Good luck, I know what a pain it is!

I didnt have problems with spotting but did with Atrophic Vaginitis, constant UTI's and finally Bacterial Vaginosis, which can be caused by a PH imbalance in the vagina --- (yeast infections too can be due to PH imbalance). Is this the bacterial infection that you are speaking of (BV)? It is not particularly harmful but causes a funky odor, especially when mixed with semen after intercourse

Mine cleared up completely along with all the other hellish side effects after I got off the pill (only was ever on one kind.)

Yep... the BV is what they diaognosised. All is well now though! She keep me on the same one, and wouldn't you know it the day I got home from the doc the spotting stopped and haven't spotted since... go figure?!?!?!

I'll be off the pill in two weeks FOR LIFE!!! So I'm really looking forward to the operation (tubal) on the 15th!!!
