Breast Implants???
Ok I have set a goal to have a tummy tuck next April BUT I also want Breast Implants
I see the recovery is like for a few weeks only...so I was wondering those who have had it...is it better to have this done now and TT next year, this way I have to worry about one pain at a time I really want this but very scared....more than the TT...I guess just the idea of having it in there for life? Side effects? How will I look when I'm older? I have never met anyone in person who had implants....and being East Indian not many girls with my background even get implants or any surgery like that Also how long will it take before Im really ok? I'm going back home (to a 3rd world country ) end of April.....Do you think I should wait until I'm back around August? Just to be safe for any complications, since I wouldnt get proper treatment back home???I'm not planning to go super big or anything, very natural....The most important reason I want them is because I have SOO much loose skin ![]()

Just beware you hafta replace the implants after 20-30 yrs. I couldn't do it because who knows what kind of physical or financial condition I will be in at that time.
Your tummy looks GREAT now, by the way. I had a tummy tuck and breast lift- no implants. |

I understand what you mean about the loose skin! And I'm not even close to my goal! My best friend got breast inplants last year. She really didn't have a bad time at all. She only took the pain meds the day of the surgery. She said she wasn't in that much pain. Don't get me wrong she said she hurt pretty bad but not enough to take the meds! She did like you are talking about not going BIG! She was barely an A cup and went to a C. I couldn't really tell she had the surgery until lately she has been showing them off!! If it were me and I was going to spend that much money you would KNOW I paid for 'em!!!! LOL!!!

Allie I didnt know you have to replace them in 30 years!!!
Is there a reason for it? So say once I'm 51 (30 yrs from now) I dont want them anymore, what happens? Do I HAVE to keep getting them in every 30 yrs? |

I had TT and breast aug at the same time. If you have had children, the breasts feel just like you are engorged with milk for a couple weeks after the surgery. I went from a saggy c cup to a perkier full C cup. As far as the TT, the wost part for me was getting the drains pulled out, but pain is only temporary and the results were worth it.
The most important thing is your choice of doctor, be sure to do your homework and pick a great one! The reason some women get autoimmune diseases from breast implants is because the doctor did not do it in a sterile manner, knowingly or not. Which means you will grow mold in and around your implants, this is very unhealthy and life-altering if it happens! So again, it is vital to pick a very reputable doctor and check their medical records on your state's health site.

I was told I would need to replace them approx. every 15 yrs. The implant manufacturer pays for the replacement implants, but you are responsible for the surgical fees.

If you don't want them in anymore, you'll likely be left even saggier than before. Then you may want a lift.

Nisha- I am not a doctor, bu it seems you are still very young (21 if my math is correct). Give your skin time to snap back before rushing for the implants. In additon to the points raised already, implants interfere with mamograms and can make breast feeding very difficult if not impossible. Maybe a lift would be a better option.

whippetlady= I already have a 4 year old daughter, and done with having kids (Dh and I both agreed to it) I became BIG busted after having dd and since then and lossing all the weight the skin is really saggy. I was trying not to think about it so early, but it's really getting to me....I just want to feel my age and saggy skin on my breast and on my tummy along with millions of strech marks aren't helping

Then you dont have to worry about the breastfeeding! Research it carefully, get lots of information and find a surgeon with whom you have good rapport. I have several friends and colleagues with implants and the ones who look best are the ones who kept within the realm of reality. One friend went a bit overboard- she is maybe a 2 on the bottom but DD on the top. She has a choice of looking busty or chunky, depending on the fit of her blouse. And as a chemist, looking chesty is not always professionally appropriate for her. My other girlfriend is the mother of two, lost a bunch of weight and just wanted her original shape back. She looks fantastic. And the lucky girl can now go braless if she wants.

Nisha,
I work for plastic surgeons. Please do your homework and check them out. Ask questions. It helps to have a list made out before you go for your consultation, that way you don't get in there and get nervous or overwhelmed and forget. Also, don't go by ads and internet, do your research. Word of mouth referrals are good. Ask to see photos, etc. If down the road, you decide you don't want the implants you may need a lift. Also ask about warranty, sometime you have to purchase an "extended" warranty.. |

Dh and I were very sure we were done having children when I had my surgery back in October 04. Well, we changed our minds last summer and are having our third boy in July. My PS said there is no reason I can't breastfeed this baby. I really hope he's right, because I'll be devastated if I can't nurse my baby just because of an elective surgery.

Here's a tip....
Don't get fat after your implants!!!
I have always been very thin (5'8 135 lbs), so I was pretty darn HOT, but for the first time I am no longer a skinny minny with big tata's . I am now a "big girl" w/ REALLY BIG tata's. Oh man. Are they big. I have gained 55 lbs in 3 years, and now I can't hardly see my feet! I can't stand it now! So, hopefully this program will take me back to my comfortable weight, and....ahum....size. ![]() |

I have implants. Best thing I ever did. Yes, I did have them replaced after 15 years. I had silicone and had them replaced with saline. I went from a mosquito bite to a full C. There was no sagging....there was just nuthin'

A great deal of the plastic surgeons in Manhattan, L.A., Dallas, & Miami recommend replacement of implants every 10 years. (However, people of course do wait longer.) Even if it were free and God Himself guaranteed me precisely the shape/placement/size I wanted, that alone would keep me from ever getting them.

Don't get implants!! You will regret it! They have a 100% chance that you will at some time need to go back and have more work done to them!!! That is why plastic surgeons LOVE to do them, very easy surgery for them...lots of repeat business!! The tummy tuck however is fab!!! Just don't gain the weight back again. Research surgeons, get references...talk to other patients that have had the surgery. Good Luck!!!

I have had my implants for almost 5years now. I got them after my 3rd (and what we thought was our last) child. I haven't had any problems. i just had a mammogram a few months ago, it hurt but nothing major. I was also told that I would need them re-done or removed after 10-15 years. I had a great surgeon here in vegas who was very upfront about everything.
I just had baby # 4 back in july. I was able to breastfeed. I am happy with the fact that when I put on my bra I no longer need to bend forward to make sure its all in there. ![]()
