joining the pregnant group FINALLY

Hi everyone! I am 6 weeks pregnant today and am so happy. We have been seriously doing fertility for 3 years and finally on Dec 12th IVF worked. We found out we were pregnant on Dec 30 and the baby is due Sept 4, 2006. We have a son who is 12 years old - I never thought it would take 12 more years, buckets and buckets of tears, and thousands of prayers - to be pregnant again. But we are so happy and it truly is a miracle from God. It still seems so unreal - if my chest hadn't tripled in size overnight - it would be hard to believe without seeing the baby in an ultrasound or hearing the heartbeat. Which I believe we can by the time we go to our regular OB on the 18th. I have been living the lowcarb lifestyle for a little over 2 years now and am still eating around 30 per day - all in veggies. I am going to ask the doctor about that but I will do whatever the doctor suggests, I just pray its not too many carbs or I'll gain 10 lbs in a week. I must admit I am a little scared to gain weight, since I have been so focused on losing and then maintaining. But I am in great shape and exercise every morning, and look forward keeping that up as long as possible. And I will do absolutely anything to get a healthy baby here. I am looking forward to reading your posts and to get to know all you other pregnant or soon-to-be's who have the same health goals. Thank you for your support and I hope I can be a support too. This year is going to be the GREATEST!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! How exciting!

There is some controversy over pregnant women being in ketosis. Of course, doctors don't want to advocate anything that could potentially make them liable, so pregnant women are told not to do/take just about everything!

I personally don't think it causes harm, but you could up your veggie intake and add fruits and/or whole grains if you want to be cautious. I eat basically the same, but do add fruits and some whole grains, just not everyday.

99% will spout what they have been taught and that lowcarb is bad... just as if you were just a dieter.... so be warned.

Look up the food pyramid and you can see they just tack on more grains and dairy for the pregnant ladies.... that is most likely what your doc will tell you.

Complete BS to me.

Congrats! Come on over to the preggo thread! I'm not concerned w/ LC while pregnant. I am gaining quickly. but if you can't eat good when you're pregnant, when can you? I'm going to enjoy this pregnancy! (food wise!)

How fun.......I am also 6 weeks TODAY! I'm due Sept 5. I'm 22 and this is my first. My breats also got HUGE overnight! I'm going to LC all the way, adding extra fruit and only soaked, and slowly cooked (to reduce phytic acid) oatmeal, legumes, and brown rice.

Just came across this ,Congrats ,that is awesome ,my husband and I have experience fertility issues and ended up adopting a special need little girl .I still have hope for conception and you reinforce it! health and happiness for you and your little miracle!!!!!!
