Keto sticks and breast milk
Ok, this may be the wrong place to post this, but I didn't think the playground was right either...
Have any of you tried testing breastmilk with keto strips? Would it even work? I am thinking about it, but didn't want to waste the strip if it had no chance of working... Nancy |

Actually I did do this on the Nummies thread about 2-3 years ago.
Only problem is the strips are designed for urine and are not valid with breastmilk. But I did it anyway and they never turned even when I was in ketosis. Which does not really matter since they aren't designed for it. But a few of us did it anyway just to see! |

I did test my milk, and when I was in my deepest ketosis, my milk did show a trace on the strip. I still wasn't worried about it. Consuming ketones is not the same as having them in the blood, not that that's even detrimental. Epileptic babies and children live very healthy lives following a ketogenic diet to control their seizures.
