I am doing some housekeeping on the list. I know some of these ladies are no longer here or even on this site anymore. I am updating the TTC, but I will leave the pg moms up until 44 weeks as many like to see how their old friends are progressing!
If you have an update or if I messed up on you somehow PLEASE let me know! If I deleted you by accident let me know also as I was not trying to hurt anyone! |

Good Morning and Happy New Year!
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Amanda. I have been a member on this board for about a year and have been LC'ing seriously for about the same amount of time. I'm an older TTC Hopeful. What I mean by that is that I'm 39 and this would be my first time trying to become pregnant. I would go in to further detail about why I've waited so long, but I hate to bore you all with the lurid details! (lol) At any rate, I have a couple of questions for y'all! a) anyone on this board over 35 and TTC? b) I'm about to do some research on eating plans for pregnancy. I wonder if some of you would mind sharing with me what you eat/don't eat while pregnant. I'm planning on avoiding all processed sugar, white flour and bread (as I have been for some time). I eat about 60 grams of carbs a day right now and have pretty much been maintaining. I know I will probably need more carbs while pregnant. But I want to make sure I choose the right ones and avoid the ones I don't need. Are starchy carbs really necessary while pregnant? Can I just add more low GI veggies like greens, etc? Like, do I really need rice or potatoes? (I also can't eat gluten). Anyway, sorry all the questions. I will look back on some of the past threads in the meanwhile. And thanks for having me! If you will! ![]()

Hello, I'm Stephanie. I'm not actively TTC right now, but just letting nature take it's course. I would love to lose 65 pounds before getting pregnant, but I would be overjoyed if I got pregnant tomorrow! I have 1 son who is 21 months old and I think I'm ready to have another...I just wish my body were more ready!

Welcome Amanda!
I am 37. In August I was TTC for the first time. By the end of August I was PG!! Might be luck...but I like to think this healthy WOE had a lot to do with it. Good luck! In the past there has been a great post from Luna....something from an Atkins nutritionist (I think) that followed a maintenance-type plan thru her pregnancy. Check out the last few weeks of posts. Personally, I had great intentions of not eating the white stuff....started off strong and then got nauseated and only wanted junk. Grrr. I put on quite a bit of weight the first trimester. My body just wasn't used to that crap, and I puffed up instantly. (I'm up 25 lbs and only at 21 weeks) Since then, I've been able to curb the Sugar Beast...altho it's not gone completely. In the end I feel as tho I still eat better than any of my other PG friends..thanks to being educated on these boards. LOTS of whole food...and an occassional treat. Let us know how you do! |

Oh My! Suprise!
First time posting, here. This is Jozoco (I am not ready to give my real name, yet, ladies) and I had a great 2005. I went back to work after having 2 DDs and after five years at home. It was a LONG road to find the right career path but I am on it. Within the next 3 months, I am scheduled for a promotion.
I started Atkins a month ago with great results. I started at 137, now weigh 132 (am 5'0") and had a goal of 118, though all my clothes now fit great. So I just went shopping and bought a bunch of new stuff for my changing figure! Today I find out I AM PREGNANT!!!! We are still in shock. Happy, but in shock. What am I to do? I want to stay on this WOE, I want my promotion, and I want to postpone my body changing as much as possible. HELP!!!!!!! |

Hello everyone!
This is my last week at work, and I am training my replacement. I cannot wait to be a stay-at-home-pregnant-lady! Only 3.5 weeks to go for me. I just wanted to let you know that I am still here! Work has been so busy with several changes to the department. I try to lurk when I can though! Jozoco--Congrats! I try to eat fairly LC. I eat meat, veggies, some fruit, milk, and sometimes a bowl of oats. I still use plenty of real butter and mayo, etc. I am able to do that most of the time, but sometimes I just have to have my junk food . Good luck to you. |

I am still TTC. I was bad and went off low-carb for 2 months (gained 6 lbs!!! But have already lost 3 of them.) And now back to low-carbing. We put off "trying" during the holidays. Too much going on. So now, we're back at it... well almost. I am having dental work done next week, and I want to make sure it's done right (last time I had a filling they had to re-do it!) before we start trying again, since dental work is a no-no during pregnancy. Plus I would like an extra week or two to get off this extra 3 pounds!
Shancop- Congrats! I don't know if you remember me from our little cinnamon experiment?! I wish you the best with your surprise pregnancy! Salamanda- If you can, stay away from the white stuff. Enjoy whole grain bread, carrots, and things that are healthy for you and your little one. Get your extra carbs through natural foods, not processed ones. Especially not donuts like me. Of course I was puking the first four months of my last pregnancy and survived on toast and cereal. But if you have no nausea, be healthy...not just to low-carb, but for your little one too!!! ![]()

Aediekins, yes, I remember you! That cinnamon thing worked, wonder why I gave up on it? (prolly to try the coconut oil thing! lol!). 6lbs in two months is great. I think I gained 6lbs in the first week off LC for me! Good luck TTC...Hope to see you posting about that + test very soon!

Thanks for the good wishes!
Thank you for all the nice replies. Today I have a better perspective. It is 5 weeks since my period, so I am trying to take everything one day at a time. I figure I have 7 more weeks before I feel like I am "safely" pregnant. I am 37 years old and very surprised to be going through this again.
I know it is right and will be wonderful if I am lucky enough to stay the course. I started adding a piece of whole wheat bread with my omelet at breakfast. Often at lunchtime, I get a burrito without the tortilla, so I basically get grilled veggies with melted cheese, guacomole, sour cream and a pile of chicken strips. Today I substituted the chicken strips for chili which was made with stewed tomatoes, oil, meat and chick peas. Dinner was meatloaf and jello with whipped cream. I still don't think I am eating enough carbs. Also, do you think it is OK if I run 20 minutes per day? I don't see the doctor until next week. |

Hi everyone,
Alina Christen arrived Wednesday, 12/21/05, 10:45am, 8 lbs, 20 3/8" I had a doctor's appt for that afternoon. The deal with my doctor was if I hadn't gone into labor on my own he would induce me on the 22nd. Well, I lucked out (did not want to be induced) and started having contractions Tuesday evening around 7pm. We were out an about running errands and had dinner. We got home around 9 pm and the contractions started getting more regular but weren't too bad. I tried to get some sleep, but kept waking up with every contraction. DH started timing and tracking around midnight. At 3am we decided to head to the hospital. When I finally got checked in and ready I was at 4 cm around 4 am. They told me I could have an epidural whenever I was ready. The pains were still tolerable so I decided to wait it out a bit. I asked when the "point of no return" was for the epidural and she said 6 cm. At 6 am I was at 6cm and the contractions were getting more intense. I asked for the epidural, I was told I'd only have to wait 20 minutes and I got stuck waiting almost an hour before the anethesiologist even got there. He then started talking about my weight, etc and how it might be hard to find "the spot". I started to get nervous and panicky. I cried throughout the whole process. I didn't like the experience with my first either... but the pain was much worse.. (for me) It was wonderful when it finally kicked in. I pretty much tried to sleep from that point on and of course didn't get much. At around 10 am I was finally at 10cm and they prepped me and called the doctor. I started pushing at around 10:30am and she was out by 10:45am. And I was totally numb. I was amazed I was pushing at all. With DS, they turned off the epidural and I ended up feeling everything.. AND pushed for 2 hours. I got no sleep at the hospital. Wasn't too happy with the nurses. Hardly saw them. And when I was asleep they came in and put that darn blood pressure cuff on me! grrrr! I came home Thursday night.. it was so nice to be home. The rest is just a blur..... Here are a couple pics.. ![]() View Full Size at Glowfoto ![]() View Full Size at Glowfoto Best wishes to all you ladies!

Hello everyone! I am so sorry I have been MIA. Too much going on.
Let me get me over with real quick and I will go on to personals. My due date was changed to 4/9 even though it could not possibly be that, but they go off the first u/s measurements... ohwell. They screwed up my appointment and now I have to wait another 3 weeks for my level 2 u/s and still don't know for 100% what I am having... driving me NUTS! *LOL* I am measuring ALOT bigger than I should be... no suprise there and I am now being seen every two weeks for the rest of my journey. Christy... CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ames... They do grow fast. I used to be so annoyed when "adults" would say that when I was a kid. But he is ADORABLE! And you may also get lucky and NOT have ms on your next pg! My second I was just queazy on and off but I never actually threw up. Maybe that is why this one was so bad.... it was making up for the last! Jozoco... We have had many discussions on what to eat and who is eating it in past threads. They are easy to look up with the search function. My BIGGEST advice is to stay away from the "white" foods as MUCH as you possibly can! No sugar, white bread or white rice. I had numerous uh "rants" about ppregnancy NOT being a time to just give in and eat whatever you want.... BECAUSE you are growing a new life and that baby DESERVES the best nutrition because it has NO say in the matter! At the VERY least AVOID sugar and use ONLY whole grains (preferably trans fat free and organic if you can swing it!). Aediekins... STEP AWAY FROM THE DONUTS MISSY!!!!!! We keep going over this... Shan... Good to see you around! How are you feeling? I watched the shows ALOT when I was pregnant last time... was a tad obsessed. Now I will watch them but they don't hold much info or suprise for me now! Louise... I bet you will be soooooooooooo freakin happy to get off work! lil miss... How are you doing? jenkat... How are you doing? kbeth.... Sometimes our good intention just go right out the door! But good for you for taking the reins in! The first half is over and you can't change it.... but you CAN keep from doubling it! Good luck hun! You CAN do it! Angel373... WELCOME! We can put you on the "thinking" list! Feel free to chat with us!!! ![]() |

Do a search on our past threads and you will read alot on what many of us eat or try not to eat! Best thing is to AVOID all the whites and get in as much REAL nutrition as possible! And many ladies do not believe in the "you need more carbs and avoid ketosis like the plague" line of thinking. We have had many disscussions on it. I just point out that when you have morning sickness your body will naturally be in ketosis. If it truly causes all the issues everyone says.... then the human race would not still be alive. Common sense. Don't try to diet while pg.... just eat healthy and whole and think of nutrition! And don't forget to eat fat as your baby needs that to develope! Don't be afraid to be in ketosis before you get pg or if it happens after... its a natural body process... just make sure you are eating well! And good luck hun!!!!!!! I am not an older mom but many in my family and quite a few friends are... and they were just fine. My almost 40 year old friend just had her son's 2 year birthday and one of my aunts had 2 kids over 40. Many ladies actually do NOT have any problems... but some do. But then again I had the MOST peoblems giving birth when I was 16... so I think its all relative to the person and NOT a set age! |
