I think I will leave pg moms up until 44 weeks and then take them off if there has been no word from anyone. I know a bunch of the ladies are not on here anymore. If I take you off but you come back... just let me know and I will add you right back up there! It's nice to know that people had their babies!

Hi, you can add me to the first trimester list, I'm due July 11, 2006. So, how are you ladies doing lc'ing during your pregnancy? I fasted today through B and L, to rid my body of the toxins I fed it yesterday. I'm only 6 weeks along, but have already been fighting the "I'm pregnant and I deserve to eat whatever I want" feelings.

Anyhow, I'm seriously over that and ready to eat healthy from here on out. Can I get some of your sample menus during pregnancy? For dinner I had a few ounces of organic liver fried in butter with onions, organic mixed veggies, and a salad w/ ranch. Oh, I also had a pure delite choc. bar. I avoid artificial sweeteners, and those are sweetened only w/ maltitol, which doesn't bother my tummy in modest amounts.

I'm really craving a milkshake, so I ordered some natural yogurt and organic strawberries from a coop today. I thought I might toss those in a blender with some vanilla stevia, and maybe some cottage cheese and see how close I get to a milkshake, lol.

Janette........... the last two threads did have more of what we had been eating.

Big problem is that most of us have been ill (some very) during the first trimester and it was back down to whatever would keep down.

I do however avoid sugar, that is my biggest no-no. And I posted a lovely post about it last week!

I do not eat the same thing every day. I do try to get organic or natural as I can find it and have the budget for it. Things like butter and milk (for kids) HAVE to be organic now.

I try to eat as many veggies as I can in a day. I am currently in love with green beans with hollandaise sauce. I make an easy blender version of it. And avocadoes I could live off of! And I have always LOVED salads!

I eat some fruit.... mostly frozen low carb or low glycemic fruits with heavy cream. I have had a few fresh oranges and a few banana's when my tummy was really bad.

I buy a whole grain, no sugar and trans fat free bread for my kids and eat some sandwiches with it, if my tummy will handle it. I have eaten "bad" bread occasionally while out, if it came with a sandwich and my tummy was sick. But if there is a choice I wont pick it on purpose. I can't seem to pick off meat and just eat it... makes me gag. So I will eat a bun if that means I am holding down the hamburger inside of it. Ofcourse I wish everywhere had whole grain buns... but you get the idea. BLT's have been VERY tasty lately, and I buy sugar free all natural jelly and peanut butter for an occasional sandwich. I have also been able to sometimes keep down an egg salad sandwich too.

I eat alot of cream cheese, sour cream, olive oil, etc... I will use Splenda but I don't drown in it. I have trained myself to like things with MUCH less sweetener. I do have liquid Splenda from that last co-op before it died.

My goals keep being to get in more protein because I am having an easier time eating veggies than anything else.

I have also found that pure cranberry juice (the bitter expensive one... not the mix) and mixing that with cranberry lime seltzer or some diet ginger ale in the morning has helped my tummy. And I have not had a UTI yet (of which I tend to have alot while pg). I drink a TON of water each day and rarely anything else.

I am one of the women who has been VERY ill. VERY, VERY ill. So I do as well as I can handle each day.

So I don't have a normal menu to post.... but eat closer and closer to "real" Atkins the better my tummy feels. I hope that my stomach will be strong again and I will not be eating ANY grains by the end of my pregnancy! I do NOT want to weigh a NEW highest afterwards! And I don't want to be addicted to sugar again and waster a year and a half basically of time while breastfeeding before I "wake up". That SUCKED last time!

So I am glad you joined us over here and I will add you to next weeks list!!!!!

I wouldn't feed my baby the every other day Halloween size (as if that makes it okay) Kit Kat or two. Hmmph.

Okay..this week's goal...take it down to 2 pieces. One thursday and one saturday and then be done with it.

I'm sorry a lot of you have been sick. I'm not sick yet, and I ate too much at lunch today, all healthy, but too much! This is our third child, as well. We have 2 boys, and I'm sure this one is a boy as well. Maybe we'll get a girl one day!

Congratulations and Welcome Orphalie and Janette!

Orphalie...I can understand your nervousness. This is our first and sometimes it hits me how radically our lives are going to change. Certainly (I hope) for the better...but I'm sure there will be some changes that are difficult. I know this is not your first...so you probably have a different set of concerns...but just know you are not alone in your mixed emotions.

Janette...what impressive stats you have! It appears you've already had great results following lc. That's wonderful! This group is very supportive...it's been helpful to read about some past pregnancies where they DID eat everything they wanted and really had to battle for good health and struggle with too much weight gain. I started off really clean, then approx. 8-12 weeks along I was too queasy to eat veggies. Really desired sweets. I'm now getting that under control. On a typical day:

B:Oatmeal with an egg mixed in (sounds gross, but gets both complex carbs and protein in) Apple
S: Nuts with piece of fruit
L: Sandwich on whole grain (waay too much mayo, but I'm an addict! ) Glass of V-8. Veggies and dip.
D: Protein and salad
Lots O Water
Sometimes breakfast or snacks are yogurt or cheese. I'm starting to really love cottage cheese, too.

A few times a week I've been having leftover Halloween candy..trying hard to let that go. I've put on a bit too much weight for this early in the game...but my sister says she gained alot in the beginning and slowed down. I'm hoping it's hereditary!

Good Luck!!!

kbeth

Then I REALLY hope you get lucky and do not get sick at all!

Many of us got sick between 5 and 8 weeks, but I hope you are one of the lucky ones!

Definately take it a day at a time and do as well as you can!

Morning sickness questions?

I remember from college that having a healthy placenta relates to morning sickness and often the older you are the weaker your placenta the less moring sickness you get.

So my question is does this hold true for anyone here?

With my daughter I couldnt even keep down water. With my son it was a little better but not much. With the last 2 pregnancies I had no morning sickness and both ended in miscarriges. This time around I have no morning sickness again and it worries me. I keep telling myself everything will be fine but it always comes back to this, comparing this pregnancy to the others. Man I'm nervous.

Ok I can honestly say that I have never heard of this theory before. Not one doctor has ever mentioned this to me and I have had several high risk pregnancies, including miscarriage.

Since I do not know for certain I can't say for certain... but I don't feel this would be true. I have known moms of all ages have babies with and without morning sickness.

In any event there is nothing you can do about your placenta so worrying about it will not help. Now stress on the other hand has been known to play a factor in miscarriage, so I would do whatever it takes to try to put your mind at ease as soon as possible!

HI!

Sorry to make you all wait so long. Both me and baby are doing really well. I was induced on Wednesday (16th) morning. And Maleina Regina was born at 6:44pm that evening. She was 6lbs 10oz, 19.75 inches long, and has a full head of golden brown hair. She is beautiful! (Well, don't we all think our babies are?! ).

We had to stay in the hospital until around 1pm on Friday. I bled a bit more than my Dr would have liked, but am doing well... was just pretty weak for the first 10-12 hrs after delivery. They did an echocardiogram on Maleina's heart just to be sure all was well and she is PERFECT! She is a joy. Doesn't cry much at all, sleeps in 3 hr stretches at night, nurses like a dream... we are VERY blessed!

Picture taken hours after birth at the hospital.

Napping with Daddy.

I'll take some more when she wakes up from her nap. The one from the hospital looks kind of weird.

ETA: Her name is pronounced Ma LAY nah, Re Geenah (hard G on the Regina)
