Celexa - off brand any different - TOM issues big time

Is there any difference in the off brand (generic) of Celexa and the real deal????

Anyone know?

I was just wondering because I switched this last month ($10 a month vs. $60!!!) and I am having some health issues now. Its the only thing that I have changed recently. I was wondering if that could be it.

Specifically, the issues I have had is a horrible TOM. For the past year each month has steadily gotten worse and worse. Cramps were so bad that I thought I was going to have to go to the ER last night and I gained 5 pounds overnight. Up until the last last year I have had NO PMS, cramps or bloating much at all since I was in high school.

I am 39 and never had children. I called the OBGyn, she told me to take some advil and come in in January. I did, and it did help, but then again I am on day 3 now so go figure!

I am not familiar with Celexa...but I will say I went on generic birth control a few years ago. TOTALLY screwed me up. After about 6 months I told my gyn about it...she said that generic, by law, can differ from the name brand by 20-30% (? I can't remember the actual percentage, but it was significant.) It never occured to me that a generic could vary by so much. So..my highly UNeducated guess is yes.

Oh, I just re-read your post. You changed to generic a month ago, but problems started about a year ago? Is that right? Darn, I thought this would be an easy answer. Well, I'm sorry you're in so much discomfort. Hopefully you can hang on until January.

Hope this helps a bit
