Hysterectomy on Dec 9, and keeping everything but my uterus!!
I'm so happy. Doctor wants to keep everything but the ugly fibriod and uterus it is embedded in. Everything else stay, cervix and ovaries, so NO HORMONES!!
I feel great about this and am looking forward to feeling better. Linda ![]() |

Great!!! I am praying for you!! Will your surgery be vaginally or abdominally?
You may still need hormones in the beginning. Your ovaries go into shock after the surgery and take a while to get back to normal, so it simulates menopause. |

Surgery is for Dec 9th. I can't wait to feel better. The only thing that has gotten to me today is my STUPID sister-in-law!!
My husband tells her I will not be doing the big Christmas eve dinner this year because the recoup time is between 4 and 8 weeks and she goes :OH, I didn't know it was that MAJOR OF AN OPERATION!!!! Idiot!! They are taking a part of my inners out and SHE DOESN'T THINK IT WAS A MAJOR THING!! I guess they will be eating MickyDs on Christmas eve, because even if I was feeling better, they all can go to HECK!!! She is such a witch and has never liked me, ever!! I have been nothing but nice to her all these years, but I don't go out of my way anymore, not for her. After getting kicked in the teeth for 23 years, I give up. There are some people too ignorant and with such a hugh lack of manners to even bother with. She is the QUEEN of them all!!Thanks for the vent!! Linda

I think that I would ask for the cervix to be taken, shy leave it for a chance for cervical cencer if you have to get the hysterectomy anyway?

The chances of cervial or ovarian cancer when there is no history at all of either one in the family is 1.5% of all woman having the surgery as I am having it. Even my Doctor and a second opinion agreed with me to keep everything but the uterus, and only because the fibriod is so large, or that would have stayed too. My Doctor's thought, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!
I thank God everyday for his attitude. As he said, with a percentage this low, why do what you don't have to do and face years of hormone? |

I had a vaginal partial hysterectomy in 1991. They did remove my cervic then. Everything went great. No more TOM's yesssssss !!! But my ovaries developed cysts in 2000 and was very painful, so I ended up having them removed also. I take estratest so no hot flashes or anything yet, but did have some weight gain. Good Luck !!!

Hi, Beeb. I had my hyst on 11/1 - 3 weeks ago today. Feel free to PM me if you want. I had the same kind you're having. Kept my ovaries and cervix. One of my tubes was a part of the thing the took out of me. There is a site called Hyster Sisters dot com., which was a nice outlet for me. I found out about my fibroid on 10/18 during a routine pelvic exam. I wanted it out ASAP. My eating is still not on plan, even though I planned to have it be. You can't concentrate on so much when that stuff is going on and you also are on a soft diet right afterwards -- liquids, then soft, then soft fiber, then regular. I have my doctors orders, who, by the way, happens to like the diet I'm on. But in recovery, you have to do what you have to do, and don't let anyone tell you any different. You have one chance to heal, don't blow it.
I was taking bioidentical HRT before my hyst for one year. Now, I am only taking estradiol (estrogen). My doc is of the philosophy that no uterus equals no progesterone. Some are against this. But I adore my doc and trust her, and she did an excellent job on my surgery and was not tidy with the percocets afterwards! Please mail me if you want to "talk." And take care...it will be fine.
