B/C Question...
Do you *have to have to have to* be on your period to start the patch, shot, or pill?
In my experience I've been told I've had to be on it, but once I missed my shot by 3 weeks and the nurse gave it to me anyway, she just told me to not be active for a week or so. Any advice is appreciated ![]() |

Not quite sure if I understand your question.
I start my new BCP the Sunday after my period starts. My period starts on a Tuesday every month so I start my new pill packs on the first Sunday after my period started. |

From what I understand, you're supposed to be on your period when you start the pill/shot/patch.
My periods are lame, and they just kind of sneak up on me when they feel like it. It can be as much as 3 months between them. I would really like to go back on the shot (or pill or patch...), but I'd like to go on it NOW and not wait for my next period, which could be quite far away as I just had one. A nurse gave me the shot once 3 weeks late.... and I was not on my period...I'd just missed my last appointment. I'm wondering if this means if they'll give me the shot/pill/patch when I'm not on my period.

I've been taking the pill for over 10 years. I always have had to start my new pack on the Sunday following my period stat day. I don't know anything about the shot as I've never received one. Maybe you could call your pharmacist, or a planned parenthood type place to ask when to take your pills or shot, or of course call your doctor. Maybe you are taking a different type of pill but I've been on 3 different BCP types and I've had to start them all the same way.
