For those ladies of a certain age...
Has anyone experienced an increase of menopausal symptoms after dropping some weight? I had a hyster 11 months ago and my doc left one ovary mainly because he couldn't reach it vaginally. I thought GREAT, I won't have to take HRT or suffer hot flashes. However, the past three weeks I've had up to 20 hot flashes a day. I had read that the remaining ovary had a good chance of failing within the 1st year following surgery and am guessing that's what's going on. But I also wonder if the 45 pounds of fat I've lost took the remaining estrogen in my body along with it. Not that I want it back! Also, since I've not taken HRT, can I expect slowed weight loss if I should start even a low dose? So far this is manageable and I'm not rushing to the doc. I can learn more here than from him. BTW, I'm 51 years old.

Check out the website www.hystersisters.com. This website has a lot of good information for pre and post hysterectomy issues.

I started bioidential hormone replacement therapy last November. I feel tons better than I did. I started sleeping again and losing weight.

What is bioidential hormone replacement? This sounds so interesting and I would like to know if it is a natural replacement.
Thanks so much of the info, Beeb |
