I think I will leave pg moms up until 44 weeks and then take them off if there has been no word from anyone. I know a bunch of the ladies are not on here anymore. If I take you off but you come back... just let me know and I will add you right back up there! It's nice to know that people had their babies!

Hi ladies,
sorry I haven't posted for a while.. just trying to get things prepared. I am so running out of steam. I doubt I'll get any rest before baby arrives. Hubby works ALOT (extra money helps) and my son wears me out. Plus trying to keep the house in order.... which I have started to give up on... lol

I had my 1 hour glucose test yesterday.... ugh.. that nasty orange drink made me sick for most of the day.

We did get the nursery mostly done.. here are pics... still have some things to do in there, but the painting/wallpapering is done..

I hope everyone is doing well. Welcome to all the newly pregnant ladies!

Hmm, we haven't heard from Kasia. I so hope everything is alright. I do know she is only on the computer during the work week.

Luna--I've heard you make reference to a disease/disorder that causes you discomfort. Sorry to be nosy, but what is it? Are you ok? Anyway...glad you're in less pain...just more blech.

AFwife,
yes, the crib does turn into a daybed and a full size frame... All I know is it's a Delta crib...lol we used it as a day bed with our son, but when he started rolling out of bed at night, we put him in a bigger bed. Since we are not having any more babies after this one, we might actually get to use it as a full size when she's big enough!

Hey guys.... just wanted to share my post over in the main board as I thought it would make a good topic to discuss. I also want to point out that I am NOT a carb nazi! I have just seen what the free for all's have done to me and I am determined to NOT repeat it this time!

How much did you gain during pregnancy?

Quote:
Baby #1 I gained 52 pounds, and went from 104lbs to 156lbs. Was a teen and did not even know about lc then. Also got very ill and was on bedrest and meds for months.

Baby #2 was an Atkins baby. I had just lost 20 punds and got pg. I went from 180lbs to 217lbs, so I gained 37lbs. I did do lc through most of the pregnancy until the last couple of months when I was sick again and on meds. And I let myself be "possessed" by liccorice. OOh how I regret that!!!!!!!

I am currently pg with baby #3. I am 12+ weeks along and have lost 14 pounds. I have eaten better than I have EVER before while pg and plan to keep it up. I avoid sugar like the PLAGUE! I am hoping for minimal gain this time. I will not be able to control whether or not I have to go back on meds (to stop premature labor again), but I will do my best to eat well this time!

High carb and sugar make you a MESS while pg and then the habits carry over while you nurse! It set's up a fail/fail situation and for many it takes months if not years to get back on track!

Plus all that crap is NOT helping your baby grow healthy in ANY way. And a large weight gain from an "F*ck It, I am pg and can eat whatever I want" attitude is NOT helping you either! None of us were healthy eating all that before..... soe we sure in the hell will NOT be healthy forming a baby eating all that now!

Ok my pg rant is over now... sorry everyone!

YUP, that's the same one. I love it!

Of course he's in a bunk bed now that has a hide away/play area under the bunk bed, so cool. We are saving the crib for baby #3 now.

Baby room looks great by the way.

Hey Luna whats your take on doing pre-maintainance while pregnant? I think it was you I remeber had said sometime before about you are in ketosis anyway from morning sickness. Also that way back when before the use of grains we ate primaraly meat diet which ment we would have been in ketosis from the begining of time. I am sure this will start a list of unwanted debate but I am planning on low carbing throughout my pregnancy by doing pre-maintainance (when I get preg.) My husband agrees saying he doesn't see any reason not to since they have not done studies on it. And most women lose weight the first three months from throwing up all the time.

Hi, i'd like to join this thread...

Hi, I didn't know this thread was here... so here I am!

I am 6 weeks along, due mid-late May of next year. Nervous as this is my second pregnancy this year. I originally became pregnant in April, miscarried @ 6 weeks, and so far this time i'm a lot sicker, lol, which is good!

I am eating lowcarb. Meat, veggies, salads and a couple of fruits.

I also belong to a great pregnant atkids list on yahoo, let me know if anyone wants the link.

Thanks for this, I look forward to talking to you!

Hi everyone

Not good news for me

I have been bleeding off and on all weekend...sigh....not really heavy, not enough to soak a pad or anything but red with some tissue and one clot..maybe about 1 cm. I bleed like one bit a day...and then the rest is brown which makes me think i have one 'bleed' and the rest is leftovers, I have had mild cramping as well...not exactly the best sign...i am living in hope that I am one of those woman who bleed but everything is still ok...yeah wishful thinking i know...oh well I go for an ultrasound on wednesday, I guess that will tell me the verdict for sure...my boobs still hurt and I am tired but I will have to see

Kasia, GOOD LUCK, I'm thinking about you. Try not to worry, the fact that your boobs still hurt is a good sign!!!!

As for me, I have my dr.'s appt. today so hopefully he'll be able to make some sense out of my messed up cycles and do something to help me out. I'm going a little with this whole TTC business.

Kasia - Hang in there Honey! Have you already spoken to your doctor about the bleeding? You know what might be happening to you? First of all, hormonal changes, but second of all, I know that you haven't seen your husband for a while..... sometimes sex can cause a little bleeding. You know what else? My grandmother bled (like a period) for nine months straight with my aunt who is now 58 years old. Check with your doctor if you haven't done so already, but you most likely will be just fine. I'll be praying for you.

Sounds like everyone is doing fairly well. As for me, major bout of nausea last night. This is getting sooooo old!!!! None so far this morning. I go in for my first doctor's visit tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait to have my first picture of this little squirt.

Luna, you mentioned that you have fibromyalgia. I was actually diagnosed as having this also. I am also hypothyroid and noticed that once I got a little extra thyroid hormone in me and my thyroid hormones were functioning a little better, that many of my aches went away. Have you had your thyroid tested?

Elizabeth!!!

Maja - I hear you about screwed up cycles! I am on my third pregnancy now, but still have no idea when I conceived any of my three kids. I did the ovulation kit thing for a while - just a waste of money for me. My husband and I tried and tried and tried using those ovulation kits. No luck. We went in for fertility testing - everyone was o.k., no problems. I was just sooo frustrated with TTC! We eventually just gave up, seriously talked about adoption and that is when it happened with our first. I have heard a lot of women say the same thing, that it is when they finally gave up trying to get pregnant that it finally happened. I know for sure that my cycles are not like "most" women. I do not ovulate around day 14. In fact it is more like day 18,19 or 20. The funny thing is that my period comes like clockwork around day 30, which made me scratch my head about my wacky ovulation. Anyhow, I can totally relate to wacky cycles.

Have a good one ladies!

kasia..... I will be keeping you in my thoughts! I can tell you when I miscarried that first time it was ALOT of blood and it HURT really bad... it all was worse than ANY period I had ever had in my life! I was not spotting. I too have known others that spotted all the way through their pg! And occasionally I would spot a tad bit if I had sex too.

cenicienta.... yes I have several times. I have been tested for everything under the sun for over 6 years. Some of the tests and symptoms I have point to something more than "just" FMS, but so far many doc's in two states can't pin point it.

maja..... good luck at the doc's!!!!

embwriting...... I will add you next week to the list! Do you want me to put your actual due date or just a general one?

PrincessAmeenah....... I say if it works for you and you are getting the nutrition you need then go for it. yes if you are horribly sick during your pg you will be going in and out of ketosis whether you like it or not! I had a rant over it a few threads back.

AFwife.... I have been thinking about getting a bunk bed too, and I would love to have one of the "fun" ones, with a tent and slide!

Uggg... Could someone please help me?

I am 8 weeks pregnant and getting HUGE!!!! I have already gained 13 lbs!!!!

I lost over 150 lbs through atkins. When I became preggo, I stopped regulating carbs because people kept telling me weight loss during pregnancy is dangerous and ketosis could be fatal to the baby. Now I am SOOOO depressed. I am terrified I am going to gain 100 lbs in this pregnancy. I was still 50 from goal when I got pregnant.

I want to get back on a modified atkins. Is this safe? Does anyone have guidelines for carbs/ cals per day? What if I lose weight?

Thank you so much!

~~Kate

Hi all

Kasia- for you, I am thinking about you and have fingers crossed. Keep the faith, okay? My sister had bleeding and a huge and I mean huge clot and had my nephew who is 16 now, so everything may be okay!

I have also heard ketosis was not good for a fetus, altho I thjink one can eat lowcarb with no issues, I am working on making the right choices, whole grains, fruit and veggies are where I want my carbs to come from. Working hard at eliminating sugar from my diet as it is PURE EVIL I am convinced!

Hi to all, must run...

hello...

.... how is everyone doing?

Kasia, i'm sorry for what you are going through. I had a miscarriage at about 6 weeks... I started having brown spotting and they did two ultrasounds, about two weeks apart, and it looked like it had stopped at about 3-4 weeks. but my hormone levels were only 1400, and yours sound a lot higher. Also, my boobs didn't hurt anymore, and yours still do so that is a good sign. You are in my heart and prayers!

My due date, I think, is 5/22/05... not sure as i'm not sure when I conceived.

My husband keeps calling it our "Little Bean" because I read it is as big as a lentil bean right now.

Good luck at your appt today Kasia .

My appt had to be rescheduled I'm so disappointed, the dr was called away for emergency surgery *sigh*. Now I have to wait till the 26th to see him .
This is soo frustrating, in August I had a perfect cycle, for the first time in my life, and DH broke a bone in his foot the day I was ovulating, needless to say he wasn't in the mood . Then this cycle everything is just allllllllll over the place. And now my appt was cancelled just when I decided that we might give Clomid a try, hmmm maybe it's a sign ??

Kasia--we are all pulling for you. I hope you have found comfort in the stories of people giving birth to a healthy baby after circumstances that were similar to yours.

Maja--How frustrating! Here's hoping it will all come together.

Luna--I greatly enjoyed your "rant." Being pregnant for the first time I need to hear those stories. Otherwise, I would be face down in a bowl of pasta with a side of fries! (dang. why did I write that? it sounds soo good. )

I write--I feel your pain. I'm 8 weeks along now, but at 6 weeks I had already gained 8-9 pounds! I kept thinking that I should add all these "normal" carbs back in while I'm pg....but really, they're never good for you. Why would they be now? Instead, I'm now having yogurt, steel cut oatmeal, lots of fruit. The weight has stabilized.

Cenicienta--yes, the nausea is getting old. I had it lucky up until 5-6 days ago and then it really started kicking in. After spotting for a week I prayed that if the spotting would just stop, I'd take all of the morning/afternoon/evening sickness He wanted to dish out! shew! Some prayers are answered!

I hope all goes well with your appt. With the bleeding it honestly could go either way, I m/c at 5 weeks and had the same symptoms as you but I have also know ladies who have had bleeding, passed clots and still had healthy babies so bleeding does not automatically signal the end of a pregnancy. Just know that no matter what the outcome there is nothing you can do or could do to stop something happening and all you can do is keep yourself healthy, both mentally and physically so you can either keep well during this pregnancy and carry to term or try again once your body has healed. Good thoughts coming you and your DH's way for today.

After spotting for a week I prayed that if the spotting would just stop, I'd take all of the morning/afternoon/evening sickness He wanted to dish out! shew! Some prayers are answered!

Kbeth - You are so right. Be careful what you pray for, He might just answer that very prayer I am trying to look at the nausea this way, at least I know that the baby must be healthy b/c I have this awful stuff and I also know that it isn't going to last forever. You know what I have found to help me with the nausea lately? Eating many small meals a day instead of three big ones and chewing gum. It really doesn't matter what I eat either (with the exception of junk food, the baby HATES junk food - I pay for it big time if I even take a bite). As I am writing this note to you, I am snacking on baby carrots. Keeping my stomach full seems to ease the nausea somewhat. A friend of mine swears by milk of magnesia. I haven't resorted to that one yet since I have found something that works for me. We are in the same boat, Sweetie. We just gotta hang in there for a few more weeks, it can't last forever, right?

I am finding that my shorts/jeans are starting to get a little tighter around the middle. Amazingly enough, my butt still seems to fit in them pretty well. I remember with my last two, that my butt was a much of a problem as my stomach. Better take inventory of my maternity jeans. I think that I may just go out and buy some new ones since my old ones shrunk in the dryer last time around.

Have a good one ladies!
