I got a bit of a shocker...
In September, I bought my first scale... EVER... even though I've been low carbing for 3 years... I've never had a scale.. I just weighed once a month or more at the Y... so, this is the first month I have any "weighing everyday" history.. well.. friday morning I weighed 167.. ('bout average for me.. ) as of Monday morning.. I was upto 176.. Yes... I cheated.. but, I do cheat occaisionally with no more than a pound or two gain, and then I lose it the next day... I did, however get my period this morning.. so, my question is.. is it possible to gain 9 pounds of period bloat?! I was wearing a tight size 10.. and my 14 jeans are REALLY tight today... this has never happened to me... How much do you usually gain a couple of days prior to your TOM? |

Usually anywhere from 5-6 lbs. Don't cha hate it?!! Sometimes nothing just the bloating feeling.

Yes. One time I gained 11lbs from cheating....
Dont do it... I learned the hard way... Now stuck in a stall after gaining some weight and I can not for the life of me peel it off |

hi my name is Doddie (sounds like doughdee), and I really need to hook up with one of the groups here. I am a gramma of four, 47 years of age with 4 grandchildren with a crap load of weight to lose (at 298, right now). I am trying to do my own thing with low carbs, just counting carbs trying to keep thme at 50 per day. I need help on a daily basis......

I read somewhere that the more Body fat a person has the more the person will gain from a high carb/ high fat/ high sodium meal(s) and it will take longer to remove the excess.

I don't understand why a cheat gain would be that much.... I've cheated before, and maybe only gained a pound of water weight, or so... but 5-15 pounds?! there is something wrong with that.. you'd have to eat between 20,000-50,000 calories OVER what your body needed to gain that amount!!

after i did m/e the first time i had one cheat meal which included some rice, a choclate long john, and some cerry vanilla dr. pepper. I gained back the 4 pounds that I lost on m/e. It took me 6 days of induction to get back down those 4 pounds. Boy did I learn my lesson. I just have to ask myself is it worth it.

Thank you so much for this post right before I got my TOM I gained 8 pounds. I couldn't understand it. Then my TOM was so painfull I couldn't eat muchand when I could eat I had to eat light I threw up the jello and the cheese so I opted for a few dates (I regreted that) my husband made me eat them though for glucose because my pulse was 49(he's a Doc). Does anyone else ever throw up during their TOM? and worse still I have passed out this past time... and that eight pounds still here even though I am on day two of TOM. I never used to gain weight with my periods just stall but then I would loose like three pounds after...?

i restrict salt intake before my periods and drink lots of water so that keeps me from getting much of a water weight gain. slice apples in cottage cheese help keep my
cravings at bay. |
