Definitely Women only - Infection? Maybe? TMI Warning...
Okay - I guess I know what I have to do (go get checked out), but could anyone reassure me if they've had anything like this before ('cause it's weirding me out). I've had yeast infections before (it's been like 15 years, though, but it's happened), so I assumed that that was what this was - but it's not really following all the symptoms I'm reading about...and the over-the-counter remedy I bought did *nothing* to help.
Started probably a month ago (yeah...I know, should have done something sooner...) - I felt odd when sitting down - kind of itching, but not really, just uncomfortable - like if you are using a tampon and it's not positioned right. Discovered some swelling right at the entrance of my vagina, kinda bumpy. Then I noticed that my discharge levels had gone way up - in fact, it got so bad I've started wearing sanitary pads - yuck. Doesn't smell bad...just odd (not something I can describe, and not something I've ever smelled before). Intercourse is definitely painful - not unbearably so, but it's there. Initially, honestly, I thought it was a bladder infection, but then the discharge started so that didn't fit. I've tried keeping everything really really clean, soaking in the tub, I've even shaved so I can keep everything even cleaner (not easy at my size...the shaving I mean). That wasn't really helping, so I got one of those 3 day treatments. Didn't do anything except change the discharge (slight odor change, and color change...from clearish white to almost a yellowish...but it's gone back to the original now). I can't get in to see anyone until probably next week (no cash for the co-payment right now)... Just curious, anyone ever hear of something like this? I've scoured the internet and nothing I've found fits what is going on. A very weirded out Eu Sorry to be gross ladies...

Sounds kind of like bacterial vaginosis. I think you need an antibiotic to clear it up. Try doing a google search for it.
Hope you feel better soon! ![]() |

I dunno, I've had bacterial vaginosis before and a hallmark of the infection is a bad smell. That's even one of the way's they diagnose it---with a 'whiff' test.
That is disconcerrning isnt it? You havent been doing anything differently that might cause irritation? It just popped up? Does sounds like an infection. I guess it could be BV--maybe you just dont smell as much Perhaps the swelling could be due to irritation from intercourse.Sorry I couldnt help you more. Hope it all works out! ![]() |

I don't know and for sure get it checked out, but in the interrim there are some things that you can do that would help any ole kind of infection and wouldn't hurt you at all..
For instance raw garlic is a natural antibiotic and it's CHEAP...I've seen it as cheap as 8 heads for a dollar. How you take it...take one or two cloves a couple of times a day, chop it up fine (I use a little food processor, but a blender would work or a good ole knife)...then put that on a spoon put it in your mouth and chase it with ice water. Acidophilous...it can get pricey but really helps with all kinds of infections including yeast...you also could eat plain yogurt or put plain yogurt in there...plain yogurt has the acidophilous, it's not in as large a concentration but it is cheaper if money is a problem. Also an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse can help, it's got antibacterial qualities and can really help with the itchiness and gunk of the various infections. I could go on and on, but these are the cheap and easy options on my list, just until you can find out. For the most part I deal with things with herbs or other natural products, so if you want more, let me know, but they are not all cheap, and they also aren't necessarily fast...but most of them work with your body and your immune system to make you stronger.
