Welcome to all the new moms and soon to be moms!
And good to see some familar faces! I tried to add everyone in correctly, but I need everyone to make sure I have their due dates and weeks. Keep in mind that you will sometimes appear to be a week ahead since everyone moves up on the same day! |

I'm still here, Luna.... My DH's dad passed away and we've moved to another state so I was unable to post for the last 4 weeks. I'm sorry. But I'm still here! And still trying to avoid the doughnuts. I gave in two nights ago... I had a fresh cinnamon roll. But that was all. Right back to low-carb, and the scale never showed a change.
Hope everyone is doing well! |

Hey there!
Right now y'all can put my due date down as May 14, 2006 - that's what the due date calculator told me from babycenter.com. I'll let you know if my doctor changes that at all (I see her October 4). Last time babycenter was right on with the due date that my doctor gave me. Starting to feel those food adversions already. As with my last two pregnancies, meat seems to be the big culprit. With my daughter I didn't want to eat Mexican food (I LOVE Mexican food!!!) and with my son, it was bratwurst that I couldn't even think about. I had a bout of nausea last night. One thing that I am experiencing this time around that I haven't in the past is dizziness. I cannot get up too fast or move my head too quickly without feeling dizzy. My mom told me that maybe the dizziness is just my allergies, which have been just horrible this summer. I think that it has more to do with pregnancy, however. Feeling tired, but not extremely. I am feeling very much like I did when I was pregnant with our daughter, which makes me think that this could be a girl that I am expecting. My radar is always off, so who really knows. I am already starting to look for names. Are any of you starting to look? I haven't found any yet that I am very crazy about though. I think that I expended my creative juices when I named my last two. I am really picky about names as well. I don't want a really popular name that everyone else is using since I don't want my kids to have to go through what my husband and I went through in school, where a person calls your name and about half a dozen people in the same classroom as you turn their heads (my name is Jennifer and his is Jeff). Being a teacher, I also don't want a name that I can associate with any particular student that I have had. On top of all of this, the name that I pick out has to be a more traditional name. So, I guess you can see why I am still looking. My next stop is checking out the NFL and college football rosters for boy's names and looking at Soap Opera Digest and the credits in movies and/or TV programs for girl's names. The perfect name is out there, I just have to find it. I do plan on finding out the baby's sex. This way, it will limit my search a little more. Anyhow, hope all of you have a great day!!!! Jen |

Anyone try Clomid?
They don't prescribe it here and found it online. I wonder if it's ok to purchase it without a docs prescription? Any thoughts on this? |

Hey all, clomid does need MD supervision, in fact they only want you to use it MAX 4 times [meaning you get to try it for 4 months] bc it can be dangerous...I dont know ALL the info but that much I was told by my own MD when I tried it last year...shrug, hope that helps...
Jen-dizziness-YES! Me too! And, it is actually how I knew I was pregnant the last time, I was pushing ds1 on a swing and stood up and was like 'whoa!' and thought 'hmmm' and then ds2 arrived 9 months later! No one answered me on last thread about EATING. I want all carbs all the time, please tell me I am not alone. AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH gotta run |

I had problems with wanting nothing but carbs when I was pregnant too... it's very common, so you're not alone... most women I know have experienced the same thing.

Hi everyone! Ok if I join the group? DH and I have been TTC since the beginning of the year with no luck. So in August I went to a new gyn who ran some labs post-ovulation. Looks like I've been living with PCOS with insulin resistance all this time. No wonder I can't lose weight and keep it off for any good amount of time! Doc put me on Metformin to help things along. DH's part of the picture is good (yay!) so hopefully using the meds, exercising, and dropping the weight will help.
It's good to see so many other women in this group! |

Thanks Guys, good to know I am not alone in the "pregnant and only want bready items' dept. It just sucks bc I have lced for 2 years and I am already gaining weight.
Another issue for me is that I am so exhausted, as I am sure you all have experienced, or will soon, it is hard to go broil some chicken when you are this tired and thed thought of it makes you nauseated... Cenicienta-I think I am due May5th! Cool to be due around the same time. I have an ultrasound on Tuesday to confrim everything is okay and check size of fetus since my cycles had been various lengths pre conception... Had my "missed menses" appt yesterday and all went well. I am nervous, having miscarried twice before, so to reassure me they drew blood again to check that m,y hormone levels are going up. When I hear that they are and get a positive report from the ultrasound on Tuesday I think I will relax.... Hope everyone has a great day! Kay |

Yesterday the exhaustion really started to hit me hard. My nausea was really bad last night too. None this morning, so far. When I am pregnant, low carbing goes quickly out the window for me. Bring on bread and rice! Anything that can settle my stomach a little. You know what I am craving right now? One of those so very evil Cinnabons! Think I might actually make some cinnamon rolls of my own today. My kids just love those things and between them and my husband, the rolls can get quickly eaten up before I can stuff my face with them. I need just enough to give in to my craving just a little bit.
A friend of mine is having a Mary Kay party tonight. I called her and told her that there is a chance that I may not be there if the nausea starts kicking in on me. It has been hitting me hard at night for some reason. No loss on the party though, the Mary Kay consultant that she uses is very pushy. The Mary Kay lady called me Monday already quizzing me as to whether or not I use Mary Kay and if I have a consultant already. Ugh! Have a great day ladies!!! Jen |

Good morning ladies,
Luna, I think you have the correct week for me.. I'm 26 weeks along, but "in" my 27th week... (??) Is that how they are listed?? Kay, when I learned I was pregnant, I was so gung-ho about staying low carb.... lol.. that went right down the toilet when my "all day" sickness set in. I could only eat carbs and gained alot of weight early on. That along with laying on the couch for about 3 months! I have my 3D/4D ultrasound today and am both nervous and excited. Jen, did you have to mention cinnamon rolls?? I hope everyone has a great day! ![]()

Morning ladies!
Yes wanting all carbs can and does happen with many ladies. But I do want to point something small out for everyone! You can STILL choose to pick better carbs! Still get brown rice and not white. Get whole grain bread with no trans fats. Pick high fiber crackers. Etc. AVOID sugar like the plague! You can still eat to help your tummy without just chucking it all away! You just have to prepare! I also found that if I or someone is going to make some food, to make extra so when I feel bad I don't have to worry about "making" it. Other things I have found that you may or may not be able to eat: sf yogurt cottage cheese sf applesauce yams sf Jello sf Tang Cream of Wheat (could be worse) whole grain toast banana's sf ice cream mashed potatoes (this is a great place to hide liquid vitamins, flax oil, fish oil, etc) etc... You get the idea! Yes you may crave or ONLY be able to handle carbs... does not mean you have to let it turn into a circus free for all. You have to remember that you are your babies ONLY form on nutrition! You have to get sneaky with yourself to get in the things you need as much as possible! And I say this with all the love in the world as a person who ate so much sugar during my first pg that I was peeing it out and they thought I had GD (luckily not!). One should NOT eat giant mixing bowls of Lucky Charms and tumblers of chocolate milk for breakfast! The nutritionist 13 years ago at my docs (whom I was sent to after the sugar peeing inncident) said that when I was craving sugar really bad, my body actually needed more protein.A thought to think on. |

Ugh, sorry to hear the ftigue and nausea are getting to you Cencienta! Hang in there! I have never been to a Mary Kay partay...
Luna-GREAT tips, thank you. Avoid sugar. Yes that is my mantra. For some reason, all I want is carbs and sugar! What is with this kid? The bad seed? haha But I have stocked the HOUSE with whole grain bread etc its just that pizza is frequently calling out to me..but I digress, excellent advice, I will do my best to follow it! Oh Christy! Ultrasound sounds so exciitng! My youngest is 3 1/2 and the didnt have the 3D ultrasound way back then, bet it is very cool! Dont be nervous! You have had an ultrasound before right? Must be how you know you are having a girl right? I have 2 boys, a girl would be lovely...but honestly, I am not the kind to break down if I dont have a girl...I love my boys and would love to use some of their cute baby clothes again... |

I also plan to pay for my own 3D/4D ultrasound. I think it will be soooo cool to send out holiday cards this year with a picture!
I don't think pizza in and of itself is evil as you can get ALOT of nutrition and protein packed on it! But sugar is never needed... so try to find sweet things that don't involve white sugar! |

Wow! Cenicienta, we have the exact due date. I haven't had my first appt yet either, but according to an on-line calculator I am due My 14th as well.
Congratulations to all that are expecting, and all that hope to be soon. Yep, I too went into this determined to stick to LC. Luckily, I have been able to eat the protein and veggies most every day, but I WANT cookies all day every day!!! The thing is, I've found when I force myself to get down the meat and veggies I actually feel better than the times I just give into the simple carbs. Maybe there is something to the craving sugar that means your body really needs protein..? Of course, I'm just barely pregnant....the serious queasiness might still be sneaking up on me. Oh, and Luna...baked sweet potatoes have seriously done the trick a couple of times already. This is so much fun!! |

Great advice on avoiding sugar like the plague. Believe me, I'm trying my best. I won't lie and say that I haven't eaten any already or that I will totally deny myself any. I did go ahead and make those cinnamon rolls. Very popular with the kids and hubby. The pan is halfway gone and I am happy to report that I just had my first one this morning.
I am feeling REALLY drained this morning. I have found that I can barely keep my eyes open the last few days. I have gotten plenty of sleep too. I wasn't like this with my first, but remember being very tired with my second. Maybe it is because with my first, I didn't have any other kids to chase around all day long and with my second and now my third, I do have kids to chase around. My sense of smell seems to be really acute as well. Everything just seems to smell a lot more intense. That is so cool with the 3D/4D baby pictures. That is something that wasn't an option for me with my first two, but I know that my doctor has one of those ultrasounds in her office now. I can hardly wait until the time comes where I can see what the baby actually looks like. Question about breastfeeding, especially for those of you who have gone through it before. Are all of you going to do it? I did it with my last two for about six months, then I stopped. To be honest, for me, breast feeding was a lot of work. I probably will still do it this time around, but I am at the point now where I feel like "been there, done that" and don't feel so inclined as to do it any longer than a month or so. Hope you all have a great day! Jen |

I am trying to avoid sugar but when I cave I am trying hard not to beat myself up and just treat msyelf in moderation.
I hope I get offered a 3D/4D ultrasound, as this will be my last pregnancy I would efintiely spring for it, sounds very cool... My heightened sense of smell has just kciked in the last few days. Last night I got super nauseas and what made it worse was that my 3 yr old had washed his hands with some flowery soap and the "stench" was on my shirt, there I am all nauseated and I cant figure out where this god awful smell is coming from... My 2nd bloodwork came back and everything looks A-OK so that is GREAT. Feel very relieved. Breast feeding- I DO plan on bfing again, but I had trouble both times before once my babies started on solid foods as well, my supply seemed to dry up pretty quickly. I kept persevering until about 10 months with both but this time I may just let it go when it goes, it goes, of course I say this now bt when it happens I always get so sad....and this time will be worse bc we wont have a fourth....so I will be all like 'but htis is the last time I will breastfeed...' etc |
